Mommyof3sweetboys. I am so glad that you wrote. You are feeling exactly the way that apparently most of us feel. I know what you mean about doing the preop diet and not complaining. My kids, all grown, have seen me try so many things that I can almost hear their eyes rolling over the phone when I talk about doing this. We will all just have to support each other. Keep us posted on your surgery. You've got this. I have had some of the same thoughts, but by the same token, it is amazing that we live in a time that we have this option/opportunity. DaddyMarie, Bless your heart! I feel your pain. My kids are grown now, but now I have six grandchildren with the youngest being 6 months. It freaks me out too, but I know in my heart if I don't get a grip on this, I will definitely not be around to see all of them grow up. We will just have to be brave. Thanks for sharing. It helps me to hear from others.

SugarFreeMe. I have been reminded by my family from time to time that I have the "gift for gab." I hope you can have your surgery while your senior is off. That would be great. One of my daughters is flying in to stay with me and/or my sister-in-law.

SugarFreeMe, I am seeing the nutritionist on Monday and will be starting the preop diet. Looks like we will be having our surgeries close together. I think my problem for one thing is that it is always quiet around here. Everyone is grown and gone. This week, in particular, seems really quiet. I think it seems quiet because I am driving myself crazy with doubts! I am sure this is going to be the smartest thing we ever did for ourselves. So, here's to us! Good Luck!

Thank you zelmo! It really helps to hear that this is normal. I have felt like was losing my mind going back and forth. I just have to remember that if I could "just lose the weight" I would have done it by now.

I am preparing for WLS in the near future. Does anyone know if the gastric sleeve diet is hard on gout?
