Hi all! I had my band filled last week from 0 to 2.5 cc's. I haven't been able to eat much throughout the day mainly sipping liquids and Protein drinks. It seems I'm to tight during the day to eat until after 6pm. I was doing well up until yesterday when I had a bowl of Soup around noon it was creamy no chunks, when all of a sudden I felt like I was stuck, I felt like PB'ing and didn't get any relief I even had to throw up a little. After that I relaxed and had liquids for the rest of the day but I noticed that every time I swallowed I would get a pain on the right side of my chest and it would go away after the liquid passed the band. I have never had any problems with my band in the past 4 years so you can imagine that I'm concerned I may have done something to it. My band was empty for about 2 ½ years and got a really big fill just last week. Has anyone had this experience? I'm not vomiting, don't have reflux, no slimming or anything. Just a pain on the upper right side of my chest when I swallow. Thanks Zen

Thanks Lady VS... I called my doc since I go to Mexico for my fills it's a little difficult to get an appointment so I'm waiting for a call back. In the meantime I'm doing liquids in the day and a sensible meal at night. The nurse I was able to talk to said yes I am too tight and should definitely get some Fluid removed. I threw a birthday/graduation party for myself last night and made Pho. So I was able to eat with my guest. Hey it's just broth with meat and veggies. I didn't get around to eating until after 8 pm so I definitely was able to eat that...Lol

Needing Motivation and support from fellow banders!

I felt the same way you did I went back to my doc after 2 ½ years of not getting fills. But he didn't say anything in fact made me feel welcome. Remember you did this for you, not him/her. Good luck! -

Wait... What??? We Are NOT supposed to take NSAID's????? I've been banded for 4 years! I was NEVER told this!!! I'm sorry you had to suffer this, but thankful you shared your story. Could taking NSAID's been the cause of my suffering all these years? -
Since I have not had my band filled for almost 2 ½ years I was able to eat pretty much anything and however much I wanted. Now that I have had a fill I was wondering how long should it take to eat a meal? What should be a good portion size? I'm sure I could do a search and find all this but I'd like to hear from other people who know. Thganks!

Yes they have gotten bigger over the years. I believe the 4cc was the first size and since it didn't help everyone they started adding. Plus I think there were more complications due to the small size with erosion and slippage. Praise God I have not had any of those!!!

Is there a Cure for Stubborness and Bad Habits?

I remember when I first had my surgery I purchased cute baby spoons and forks to make myself eat smaller and slower. -
Hello sorry you are having problems. You said you had your band placed 10 years ago in Mexico? I'm not sure but I don't think they had 10cc bands back then. I went to Mexico 4 years ago and they still had the 4cc bands. I understand every doctor is different so like I said I'm not sure. How long ago were you filled to 3.9? If it was a long time ago and your band has been empty for an extended period of time 3.6 may not be enough for you and you may need to get some more added. I know the frustration of having to pay so much for a fill and to go to Mexico if you don't' live there or nearby like I do. I can't say how long it will take you to get to your sweet spot it varies from person to person, band to band. I do believe that the size of the band determines how much fill you need. I have a 4cc band and a 2.5 fill (which I have now) is probably more then enough. The smaller the band the less fill I think you need. I can only speak on behalf of me and my band. Hopefully others who have other sized bands can give you better insight. Good luck.

Thank you 2muchfun. I have learned over the years to listen to my body and not just go off of feelings. And your right we were not really given a lot of education Thats why i think a lot of the people who got banded around the time I did are having so many issues and have opted to have the band removed and get the sleeve, for me thats not an option so I have to make my band work. Thanks Again.

Looks like no one visits this forum anymore. I could not access my old account so unfortunately I had to create a new one. I wonder how all my other friends are doing. Me it's been up and down. I finally went back to my doc and got a 2.5cc fill last wednesday. and I am tight but I'm hoping it will subside. Hopefully someone from back in the day will look here and see my post and will let me know how your doing…. By the way I'm zeniada same as the other poster on this thread Ha Ha -
At 3.5 with 4 cc band and not tight enough
Zeniada B replied to arose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a 4cc band and it was put in 4 years ago. I had stopped getting fills about 2 years ago and have since gained weight. I didn't want to go and get a fill mostly because I was embarrassed that I had gained so much of my weight back. I broke down and got a fill last Wednesday and the doctor told me my band was empty and filled me to 2.5 cc. I am very tight right now and wonder if I may be too tight or since I've been empty for the past 2 years if this is just an adjustment period. If your not feeling any restriction you may want to consider going back and getting more fluid put in. God luck.
