  1. It seems to me that it differs from state to state as to what is required after the initial consult. I live in MA. and we are required to go to two WLS support groups, have a psych. eval., see a nutritionist, have a stress test, and a few other things. I would suggest you ask what the next step will be at the consult. I'm sure they can provide you with all of the information you need. Good Luck!! Jenn

    Excited to be ill?

Hi, i had my psych evaluation yesterday. It took about 2 1/2 hours. The first 40 minutes of the evaluation was spent going over my paper work and talking about the differant weightloss attempts that I have had and why I think the lapband will work when I failed with other weightloss attempts. The rest of the eval was spent filling out questionaires. It's really a tool that they use to make sure you are ready for the band and that you have been honest about your information i.e you don't do drugs and don't drink excessively. Your evaluation may not be as invasive but I was told that in MA. this is a standard thing they now have to do with everyone who wants to have WLS. I hope I was helpful. Just be honest when you go in and you will do great! Jenn

Im new and I need help

Daniel, I read your post and feel your pain. I have had a lot of stress in my life esp. the past few years. I have always turned to food for comfort and I know it will be an adjustment when I get my band. You may not feel very motivated right now but all of that might change once you start losing weight. Once you start feeling a difference I'm sure it will help motivate you. As you will learn on this site, the lapband is not the easy way out. It is an amazing tool that when used correctly will change your life forever. I'm glad that you have received professional help for your depression. Noone should have to go through that alone. Hang in there and believe in yourself. You DESERVE to be happy and healthy. Please take the steps to move forward in this journey. You're young and you don't want all of the health problems associated with being obese. It does get more difficult the older you get. I wish you only the best!!!!!!! Jenn
  4. I'm new to this site and haven't been banded yet. I have read many of the threads old and new and have come accross many terms that are confusing to me:confused:. It would be great if someone could post a list of the common terms with their meanings. For example: PB, sliming, band slipage, band erosion. Also, maybe some examples of what the liquid diet and mushies consist of. At this point, I'm using this site to learn everything I can about the lap band. I'm soooo glad I came accross it and amazed at the amount of support that you all provide to each other. I feel so informed and know that I have found the right place! Thanks, jenn:)

    Thinking about banding

Hi, I'm thinking about banding as well. I have been thinking about having the procedure done for quite some time. I will be 36 in a few weeks and don't want to live the rest of my adult life at this weight. I have at least 100 pounds to lose. My husband is very supportive of my decision to pursue this option. I am going to make an appointment to see my Doctor this week. I am also planning on attending a support/info. meeting in two weeks. I have read many of the threads and must say that you are all an inspiriation to me. I have laughed at some of your experiences and felt your pain. It's nice to be in a place where other people understand your battle with food. I look forward to becoming involved with this site. the support you all provide to each other is amazing. Jenn
