Anyone in this region? Got a cheap fill dock that isn't forever-away?

Wellll... my boyfriend is a tech genius so I'll see what we can doooo... Maybe I'll get 'em typed up this weekend. There are quite a few, compiled from research on the internet, and from my family as well. I'll keep you guys updated. Most of them are really easy and fast, but add a whole lot of flavor to the "meat, then veg, and a small carb" thing they tell us to eat.

Nah, Not yet but I was thinking about it! You think I should? I'm not sure which part of the forum would be the right place to...

Here here! I could not agree with your bolded statement more, green. My mother taught me to be a good cook, and I brought the cookbook I made for post-surgery to my dietitian and she was amazed. She said the recipes looked amazing and really tasty and not a one was out of line for losing weight. I definitely have my mother to thank for that.

I know I know, this is a really awkward question but... Can you feel the port under your skin? I mean... Like, a little hard spot? If you get skinny does it stick out???? Sorry to ask, but I felt sheepish asking the rep 'cause she's kinda...zealous and I didn't wanna offend her......

It's weird to think a sandwich will be off-limits from now on.... but I heard bread doesn't go well.

What's the difference between a low-profile port that people keep mentioning and the regular kind?

Ick surgery. I'm not a fan... I did it... but I didn't like it!

Her mother should be teaching her that there's no quick fix and teaching her good eating habits and above all getting her therapy for her disorder. She gained 35lbs in 6 months because she's a compulsive over-eater but what is anyone doing to help her with her very real psychological problem? The bottom line is, over-eating, can make you unhealthy, but it is downright dangerous if you have a band. You can do some serious damage. It's her mom's responsibility to keep her child out of danger and she's just putting her right into danger with no emotional safety-net to ensure that she doesn't over-eat end up on the operating table again.

Any August folks out there? I'm Scheduled for August 10.

I can sip that through a straw. I just pureed something that's already soup and watered it down a little more with some broth. It's definitely straw-sippable though. No ill effects after two days of that soup, if you're wondering. -

I spent the night at the hospital... Trust me. It's just something you wanna do. I had a lot of air trapped in my abdomen and I started barfing up the Simethicone cocktail they gave me for it... which was terrifying as the contractions in your stomach from vomiting can rip your stitched and end you back up in the OR. But since I was in the hospital overnight there was a doctor who could come in and help me immediately and administer a stomach medicine through IV. Also, they gave me sleepytime medicine through the IV which was a godsend. -

I'm also doing the protein shake thing. Chocolate flavored Advantage Edge, K20 protein water, chewy vitamins, Filtered water, Skim Milk, uhh... watered down ruby red light juice. That's about it. -

Oh! The BEST THING EVER!!! Campbels Healthy Request Mexican Style Chicken Tortilla Soup (98% Fat Free) In a blender, Mircowave for 1min 33 secs, and put a spoonful of Low Fat Sour Cream in the middle. It is the tastiest thing I've had in weeks. -
Oh yea, and also, her BMI was 31. She 5'5" and weighed 193lbs. She was one Body Mass Index point from not being obese at all. She wasn't anywhere NEAR being morbidly obese. Which classifies as BMI35+. Less than 15lbs or if she grew two inches, and judging by her frame, less, and she would be in the normal range. That's food for thought.

The girl may want it. Heck, I would have jumped at that when I was 12... but when I was 12, I also chose to eat a ricecake and a diet soda for a year. Little did I know that was anorexia and I most definitely didn't understand the longterm affects of my decision... which happened to entail stunting my growth to the tune of 4 inches. Who's to say that she has any grasp at all on what's going to happen to her? Sure she might want it, and I'm sure insecurity drove her to go under the knife before, but is it ethical or wise? Obviously not, since they went all the way to Mexico in order to avoid psychological screening.

Well... that must be what I have since the port on what they showed me was not even a cm tall... maybe a cm, but definitely not more. About nickel sized at the bottom and less than dime sized at the top.

What I would do for the gas is bend over the side of my bed with my stomach resting flat on it and apply just a little pressure and slightly rock back and forth. It also helped to have someone rubbing my back while this happened. I got my surgery in Mexico and contracted Montezuma's revenge... talk about complications with not being able to wipe! I was in and out of the bathroom every half hour. Ick! Finally that's over! -
BTW, if Calico Cupboard is still around, eat there BEFORE your pre-op liquid diet... 'cause that place was good and I don't think pancakes go down to well after the band.

Good luck! I'm down here in Oly, but I used to go to ICRS up by the hospital in Mt Vernon.

My fiancé gained about 50lbs after we moved in together and were going out. Now we're gonna diet and exercise together.

I was Aug 9th, and this is the first day I havne't felt like a balloon! Yaaaay! -
I don't think that she is mature enough or emotionally ready for such a huge change. The lap-band requires constant discipline to not "compulsively overeat" and make your band slip. My guess is, within 2 years, she's back in the OR because she made it slip by doing teenage stuff such as drinking alcohol or overeating. (I just came out of that stage, I remember).

Does anyone know the difference in size? Like how big the regular one is, and how big the low-profile one is? I'm just curious and I forgot to ask my doctor and he's a ways away now.
