Slow weight loss and bump under port incision
jacks9036 replied to shay5413's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the revision in August 2013 and lost 30lbs pretty quickly but the weight loss has stopped all together and it's frustrating. I lost 135lbs from the band and got pregnant gained some weight and I'm still 60lbs from where I want to be but the weight isn't moving! I thought this was just me the sleeve is a much slower way for me to lose weight but I know much safer way since I had a lot of vomitting with the band. I'm not eating bad foods, I exercise reguarly and the weight isnt' going anywhere.... -
Band to sleeve in one surgery. Who's had it done that way? How long had you had your band? What was your recovery like? Any complications? Regrets?

Banded in 2004 sleeved in 2013....one surgery no complications what so ever. -
Had the band removed and was sleeved back in August..after losing 135lbs with the band and keeping it off I was disappointed when I started having issues with it. Three months after giving birth I had my band removed and sleeve done. As of today I have only lost thirty pounds. I have lost a lot of inches but the weight is a slow go. I was the same way with the band. I will confess exercise has taken a back seat due to work and the baby. I guess I just figured being this far out I would have lost more weight. I am back on the Zumba train this week so hoping that will jump start it again. I am eating protein for most of my meals, I don't drink liquid calories, don't drink with my meals. I guess I just need some confirmation I can make this work!

I did Zumba until I got pregnant, I lost 35lbs and a ton of inches but I was able to go five days a week now that is NOT the case. Usually my day of meals consist of a Protein shake or spinach smoothie for Breakfast. lunch is usually tuna pack or a salad that I eat the chicken out first then some veggies If I can handle it. dinner is usually some chicken with a veggie, or some chili of some sort. I really think my problem is my calorie intake is too less! There are some days once clocking in everything I'm not getting 500-600 calories a day! I will admit last month I slacked off on counting protein but getting back on track of that this month. Exercise for me helped me just feel better and get in shape! Suggestions I am open for them!

LapBand Before Having Kids/Pregnancy
jacks9036 replied to txgirl10326's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I had my baby two months ago and I have had the band for 9 years this year...I did have to have an unfill due to not being able to eat anything at all. My doctor was very supportive with me and knew I had the band..I did however gain a lot of weight with pregnancy and am now trying to start the motativation of getting that off again being that we want a second child. My band doctor keeps telling me that I should only gain 15lbs while pregnant and that was hard to due with the appetite I had. The band doesn't effect your pregnancy if it wasn't for the weightloss with the band I wouldn't have my miracle baby now! -
I am 9 years out on my band and yes weight loss was very slow and hard but it was my own fault really for not working with my band like I should. I am having to start over after gaining weight with pregnancy but I am committing myself. My doctor is talking to me about the band to sleeve conversion due to the slow weight loss and some issues I have had but I do find that the sleeve is being pushed more than the band. He told me himself that he hasn't placed a band in over two years now and when I got mine that was the majority of his surgeries. You have to work with whatever you have done the surgeries aren't the fix they are just to help you lose and maintain.

I was banded in 2004 the weightloss was extremely hard to get started and get use to the band...I really had no support system and in my mind thought the band was going to do all the work..WRONG..so once I got going and kept the weight off I had lost 110lbs by 2012 then boom started going to Zumba 1-2 hrs a day and working my tail off and lost another 35lbs...then guess what after 13 years of trying to get pregnant I got pregnant...due to my inability to eat around 6 weeks pregnant my dr agreed it was good to take our some of the fill...I really didn't want him to but I knew I had to eat for my baby....so she is now 2 months old and I am trying to get back in the swing of things..I gained 60lbs..YES 60lbs..that wasn't really due to all food intake it was due to the inability to exercise at all during my pregnancy! I am going back for a fill tomorrow and starting my journey over again but honestly I feel more prepared this time than the first..I know how to use my tool (the band) to achieve what I want..I know what to eat and not to eat, I know what to look out for! I am prepared to get this weight off again..I will be healthy for myself and for my daughter to see her mother healthy! I can't stand the way I am right now! I will achieve my goal again....if anyone would like to be email buddies for support please contact me..I would love to be able to talk to someone going through this journey again!

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
jacks9036 replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am 4.1 CC in my 4CC band! -
Ok so I went to the doctor. He said I had 3.8 CC's in my band. By his records. I asked him to pull it all out and see what's in there and let's go from there. He could only get 2.5CC's out. So he put in .5cc's. Right now he is saying I am at 4.1 in my 4 cc band. I actually had a 3 lb gain instead of lose. I told him about not having any restriction at all. I am just afraid that I do not have a leak. He wasn't to interested in listening to what I have to say. He was to busy trying to rush me out of the office. Thanks for the reply!

 I have 3.6 CC's in my 4 cc band! I have restriction some of the time and other's not. I do very good in getting in all my liquids. I can eat around 6oz's at a meal. My problem is I think I need an adjustment but then not sure. I am self pay on $100.00 of the fill. The insurance covers the rest. I don't want to have to go today then turn around and go back two days later. Really do not have the cash right now! If I can eat 6ozs at a meal is that to much? I haven't been able to move due to spraining BOTH of my ankles over three weeks ago and still getting use to walking on them again. I hear so many differnet things on what size meal you should be able to eat. My dr says 6oz's isn't bad.... Suggestions!

Bandsters who aren't losing or losing slowly
jacks9036 replied to Liz1531's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded over three years ago. Lost 88lbs by my one year mark. Had band slippage and was unfilled for a month. Gained 17lbs back. Got re-filled and went from there. Was doing really good took back off the 17lbs. Now in 2006 I had another slippage due to food poisioning. Vomitting very heavily and just slipped. Neither slippage required surgery so I was lucky. He was able to unfill and just let it set for a month and refill gradually. I was refilled and instead of losing weight started gaining weight. The only rule I have ever had problems with his drinking with my meals but I have limited that way down. Today I have gained back 30lbs of weight lost and I have 3.6cc's in my 4 cc band. My doctor isn't really supportive in someways. He pretty much in so many words has told me I have failed. I feel like a failure. I can't eat a lot of foods and still get stuck. The weight isn't coming off. -
Make sure you know your policy on UHC. I was approved and banded over 3 years ago. Company made some changes and BOOM! I am now cash pay due to policy changes and no Biatric coverages as of June of this year. So instead of my twenty dollar copay. I now pay 55.00 for the fill, 40 copay...so 99 bucks everytime I go to the dr. Make sure you find out what UHC covers and make sure they are fully aware that it's long term care. They pay for the dr visit but I have to cover everything else.

I can't tolerate bread haven't been able to ever since surgery. I haven't had bread in over three years. I think it has to do with the swelling of it once in your stomach. Think about it. 3 oz pouch with a few bites of bread you have a false fullness. I miss it but I don't really think about it much anymore.

I have this issue ALOT. It became worse after about the first year of banding. I use a cleansing my aunt told me about. I drink salty water and boy does it do a colon cleanse but I feel soooooooo much better afterwards! My dr had nothing he could tell me as to why I was havin this issue.

Those of you that drink alcohol
jacks9036 replied to PrincessChey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I drink around 4-5 times a week! I can't handle beer because of the fizziness of it. Kills my stomach. I love Jose Quevo and can't drink it anymore because it burns to bad! I usually drink some red wine or my favorite is a Cape Cod with Vodka/cranberry juice but have to be careful of the calories in alcohol. I never realized how much was in them until you really start looking at it! -
I have to crush anything that can be. Now gelcap tylenol I have noticed I do not have an issue but I request liquid form in anything available.

I love mexican food! I stay away from the chips and salsa. I usually go for the fajitas or a chicken dish minus most of the cheese they put on top. Corn tortillas go down a lot easier than flour tortillas so I lean towards them. I love the grilled onions and peppers. I am also from Texas and we do LOVE our mexican food.
