1. I haven't been on here in a while, but I had rny on April 3, 2014. I lost 105lbs, making it down to 187lbs. My motivation was my two children & my wonderful husband. He is not my kid's natural father, but he has been their dad when their's weren't. But, I really wanted to give him a child of his own even when he said it didn't matter; that my kids are his kids. In 2011, I got pregnant, but soon after miscarried due to out of control blood pressure. Got pregnant again in 2013, but it was in my right tube. So, lost the baby & the tube. Doc showed pictures after surgery & I was ashamed. My tubes/uterus/ reproductive organs were surrounded by fat. I believe that my fat got in the way of baby making it to my womb. I decided once & for all to have the surgery after changing my mind twice over the years. Fast forward to August 2015 -we found out we are expecting without even trying! Our baby girl is doing great & is due to arrive on my 2 year Surgiversary April 2016!! How amazing is that?! Hope this inspires someone. Pic is from 6 weeks ago.

April 30th!

Had gastric bypass surgery on April 3, 2014. SW: 292 CW: 187 Thanks to my RNY, I am now 9 weeks pregnant! My husband and I were almost about to give up. But, then it happened. Never give up. Wish I had better pics, but broke my phone.
3. Please don't be discouraged. You are so early out that your body still has fluid & air built up from surgery. I'd recommend waiting about 2 weeks out before weighing yourself again. This will allow your body time to release the retention build up. That scale can also make you crazy so please be sure to take measurements as well for those days when the scale doesn't move at all. Good luck & welcome to the Loser's Bench!

Before and After Pics

Well, I'm only 3 months post op so I only have before and during pics. I am so much happier these days!!!
5. Hi, my surgery was 2 months ago on April 3rd. I had gastric bypass rny and since surgery, I've lost 25lbs. It seems kinda measly to me. Especially, for it to be rny. I'm seeing ppl with the sleeve or lapband losing more. I thought the weight comes off quicker with the bypass? Oh well, just so long as it comes off. I definitely feel so much better! How about you guys?

Lost on what to do.

Are you getting plenty of water?

I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!

Maybe you can try yogurt with an unflavored protein powder. Unjury has the best in my opinion. You can also try Isopure which is a water based protein beverage. I don't think it uses aspartame. Good luck

Slow weight loss

I'm experiencing the exact same issue at 7 weeks out. You're only 2 weeks out which means you're probably still retaining IV fluids & air from surgery. The 1st month I lost 13.5 lbs. So far the last month I've only lost 3 lbs. I know that it will happen for me eventually & it will for you. Try only weighing once a month to keep from driving yourself crazy. Just like someone said earlier, slow and steady wins the race.

11 weeks post op

I'm so sorry you're having such a difficult time. I'm only 7 weeks out and have had a few difficulties. It has gotten better, however. I hope things get much better for you really soon. Hang in there!

Unjury Unflavored

I mainly use it to make fruit smoothies now or in oatmeal. Unsweetened Almond milk, nonfat greek yogurt, frozen fruits, spinach or kale, flax oil, & a scoop of the protein powder and Voilà!
12. There are a plenty of men on here. You can look them up. There's a special "room" for guys only, I don't know if that's the name of it or not. Maybe someone else knows it exactly. Also Instagram has many diverse groups of post-ops. Use the hash tags (#) #wls #rny #bariatricsurgery #vsginstacrew #gatricbypass #gastricsleeve etc in the search. Facebook has several Gastric Bypass Support Groups as well. Hope I helped...
13. Not losing as much weight as I expected. Extremely disappointed in myself. I'm 6 weeks out and down 18lbs. with RNY. I really expected to lose at least 25lbs by now! Especially since I started at almost 300lbs. I could understand it if I was under 250. My sister in law lost 30lbs her 1st 3 weeks and we were about the same weight. She doesn't exercise but I'm on the treadmill regularly. I know I shouldn't compare myself to others but what is it that I'm doing wrong? Waah waah waaah *whiny, I know...lol

Confused on how weight loss works

Calories in calories out. On liquid or pureed we're presumably still healing therefore, moving less/burning fewer calories. But it equals out because we're "eating" fewer calories. Then, we move on to soft /solids. Presumably, more calories in but we're probably getting around better at this stage, back to work, & our regular activities therefore, burning the extra calories. See how it balances out?
15. Baconville, this sounds exactly like when I dumped from eating fried or greasy foods. Everyone is different, however.
