August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
TriVon1969 replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello Everyone, I go for my first fill next Thursday. I am really glad it's finally here. I don't have alot of restriction, I can eat anything...just not as much as before. I was banded on the 28th of August and I have lost 14 pounds. I have been a little saddened by this, but I am excited to just see a few ounces disappear. I have stayed the same weight for so long that anything is better than nothing. I look forward to my future with my little buddy...(my band)! I know together we can do this! I'm a little nervous about my first fill, I HATE needles!!! I'm just a big baby I know. lol Have a great day and good luck to all! -

Hello everyone... I was banded on Aug. 28th. I've only lost 13 pounds so far, but I put 1 pound back on the past few days. I don't have much restriction, which I find odd. I have the new band that already has a fill. I have been eating what I think is too much and I sometimes still feel hungry. I know that should go away after my first fill. I think I am ready for one now, but my port site is still very tender. Any suggestions? I've been walking some...not everyday, but I will walk tonight when it cools off some. I can hardly wait to start working out. I hope that will make a difference in the weight coming off. Good luck everyone. -
Hi Betsy, Glad to hear the reflux thing is finally over for you! I've had no problems with that so far. Thank goodness. I have however been able to eat what I think is too much. You know I am a worry wart. I have the new band, so I already have a fill. I thought that was cool, that I wouldn't be able to eat much. Maybe it's my poor choices. I started today good and don't plan to weigh everyday this week. I will weigh again on Friday! I sure wish I could meet with your group. I will find a time that is good...teenagers, schedules...you know! I hope to meet with you before our Holiday Party. Maybe we can get together for a visit one day. Are you going on the walk? Anyone else going on the walk with Dr. Spivak's group? Have a good week everyone!

Well, I am a daily scale girl myself! It has definately bit me in the butt! I was watching the pounds melt away and then one day nothing. OUCH! I was banded on 8/28 and I've lost 10 pounds so far. Nothing in days...in fact I was feeling miserable about it and had comfort food to make me feel better. Stupid move I know. I am eating alot of chicken and I am getting pretty sick of it. I think I will check with my Doc tomorrow and see what else they suggest. Sometimes I feel so full after not eating hardly anything. I am afraid when I feel that full that I may be hurting something inside me. Tomorrow is Monday and the beginning of a new week. I will get to add more stretching this week and I plan to walk alot. I want to see the scale move again. Good luck to everyone and goodnight......<3 -
Hi Kacee, Yes I was just banded 08/28. I am so ready to start melting the pounds away though. You are right...this is forever so I do have plenty of time! I kow it isn't a quick fix, that I have to work on it. That's just what I want to do. I can't wait to get to the gym. Can anyone tell me how long Dr Spivak wants us to wait after surgery to start working out(LIGHT workout)? I haven't found a protein shake that my nose can tolerate for me to drink. Anyone have a good idea? Thanks everyone...TTYL

Thank you Sandra! I AM getting to know my band and myself for that matter. It is just a little irritating at those moments when you KNOW you've been so good. I have been extra good today, but didn't have time to walk.UGH! I hope to see a change in the morning. I know I shouldn't weigh every day, but it is so exciting and it makes me very happy to know that this time the weight WILL come off! I missed the meeting tonight. Did anything happen I'll be sorry I missed? Gotta get some ZZZZZZ's! Goodnight everyone!

I am so anxious to start working out. I have been walking some, but not nearly enough. I had surgery on August 28th, I am still sore when I bend over so I'm sure stretching is out of the question. Ideas would be very helpful. I am worried that the longer I wait the better chance I have of getting saggy!

:help:Here is a question for everyone. Why...ok this is what happened to me, I'm just a little frustrated today. Day before yesterday I actually did a no no. I had ice cream instead of dinner...I was craving.(Must be time for cravings, you ladies should understand!) I still lost .8 p when I got on the scale yesterday morning. Last night I walked 3 miles and ate very good for me all day. I gained .9! What exactly is up with that!?! I have so much to do today. I want to go to the support group tonight, but I'm not sure I will be able to. Just feeling a little down today.

Hi Juli, P-Town sounds wonderful. We are smack dab in the middle of the B-Belt, Southeast Texas. We've been together for a while so most people here don't do the double takes anymore. But, how NICE it would be to walk down the street holding hands and not think we were going to be shot! I know about the great body and complaining though. We took more before pics yesterday and she was pointing out all what she calls her problem areas. Then I start doing the same and she is like "Oh baby, I love you just the way you are!". She told me the other day she wasn't going to know what to do when there wasn't so much of me to hug. Too cute! Von says Hi! And WOW on the bike ride!We can barely make it 2 miles without turning around and coming home. I think that is mainly my fault though. LOL Not for long. -

Stevee....Calm down, heheho, it will all be ok! I was so nervous before my surgery a couple weeks ago, I totally understand. (I'm sure everyone does..) Ask a bunch of questions. Call your doctor's office and ask if there is another shake you can drink. As for myself I haven't found one yet. I can't drink anything that smells bad, same thing with food. I have to at least like the smell. GEEZ! You will get through this. Everyone here has been so helpful in calming me down. And the results are awesome...it WILL be worth it! My biggest advice, and I know I'm a newbie...is ask people that go to your doctor about what he or she expects. Ask for a simplified explanation of the list that is so complicated. You are new to this, you will not sound stupid. It has been a little hard for me searching the site because there are so many different doctors and they all have their own way of doing things. Good luck! Oh, vitamins. If anyone knows of a better tasting one than Flinstones...please let me know. -

Hi Betsy, I will try to come to the next meeting. Could I get some directions from you? I will be coming from Beaumont. Got on the scale this morning....198.7! I haven't been under 200 in so long. WOOHOO! I will be getting pics of my surgery this week from the hospital. A lady at Dr. Spivak's support group last Tuesday had hers(I was so jealous)lol. Everyone said she had the new band. It already has a fill in it. I'm not sure what I have, but I can't wait to see. She was banded one day after me so I hope I already have a fill with the new one. We'll see. I will try to post it when I get it. Have a great week! Vegas this week...right? Good Luck! Maybe one day we will make a bandster day trip(or overnighter) to Lake Charles. -

I am so happy for you Juli...Did you have a fantastic time in P-Town? I can't wait for Von and me to go!!! Hey gang, I got on the scale this morning and I am now under 200. I am 198.7, I lost 1.4 pounds yesterday and I went to a birthday party and did not pass up the cake. That is so strange to me. I could look at cake before and gain 4 pounds. lol I am so thankful and happy that I finally did this for myself. Yvonne says she wants us to live long enough to get to see and do all the things we want to. The only way we will be able to do that is to be healthy. We are on our way! Her weight loss is slower than mine, but she is still losing. She has been a little disappointed in it going slow, but I keep telling her she doesn't have the band. She weighed 157 this morning.....what I wouldn't give to be 157. I think I may strangle her...LOL!
