    Should I have to

I've been lurking on these boards for weeks while I decide what to do. I have followed various individuals and their achievements. The most inspirational and educational part of my lurking comes from seeing success stories like yours. Please do not remove anything from your sig line....It's so important to the the folks who are trying to educate themselves and make a life decision. My decision has been made, I'm done with all my pre-op work and just waiting for the call to tell me my surgery date. Thanks for sharing.....and keeping us all motivated.

    Any Long Islanders?

I had my first meeting with Dr. Geiss and his staff today. What a great group of people. Everyone was so nice, much different environment then when I met with a different surgeon 2 weeks ago. I plan to move forward with the surgery and Dr. Geiss. I have been reading and following all of you for months. You've all be a great inspiration. After I got home from my appt today I made all my follow up appts. Most of them will be done next week. By 10/11 I will be completely done with all the pre-op testing. Fortunately, I have a great insurance plan that doesn't require me to jump through hoops so hopefully I'll be banded before the new year. YAY!!!!!!!!!!! The only one set back was I told my husband tonight and his response was don't you want to wait until after the holidays, so it doesn't interfere with anything....??? My first thought was what the F is that all about? I really thought that a little odd/selfish since he claims to be so supportive. I'm excited and hope he understands this is for me and not for anyone else. Then he proceeded to change the topic and whine how he is 30lbs over weight and needs to do something immediately....It's tough trying to go through with life altering decisions with an individual who sees everything as competitive. Did any of you experience this type of issue? In any event - I can't wait to join my fellow bandsters. I feel like I know a little bit of each of you by reading/following your stories.
  3. This is such a great thread. I had my first consult with a surgeon last week and couldn't wait. I made the appt over 6 weeks ago and kept reminding myself everyday of the big consult. Well, my date with the surgeon came and it was so disappointing. I waited 1 1/2 hrs to meet with him and then when I finally met him he answered his phone 3 times and walked out of the office twice to speak with his office staff about the lunch he ordered and wanted to make sure he paid for. He should have been selling used cars, not consulting on one of the biggest decisions an overweight person can make in their life. I finally left the office and the staff was shocked when I told them I didn't want to make any follow up appts. He was standing there waiting (counting his dollars) to see if he sold another one. Well, I went home and felt so deflated over the whole event. After a week I'm finally starting to get a little bit excited again because I have an appt. with another surgeon. Everyone on the board loves this second surgeon, so I'm hoping my experience the time around will be better then the first. If not, I'm just going to forget about the whole thing. The used car salesman "surgeon" turned me off that much....
