NEED ADVICE!!! Going on a cruise! (1 week post-op)
Carolk1 replied to BansterNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banster - I've been waiting to hear how your cruise went....Since Sunday I've been checking...It sounds like it was fabulous!!! I'm thrilled it was so easy for you. I know feel relieved when I take my Royal Carribean Cruise 6 weeks post surgery. That's my first week of starting solid food. I'm nervous I may go overboar (funny) with my eating and of course the wine and drinks....but knowing they will puree maybe I'll try and stick out my mushies one more week and start solids when I get back from the cruise (less temptation). We'll see how the next few weeks go....Welcome back and thank you for sharing all the details....I'm so exicited. -
I told my husband, my mom and one friend (she's overweight and considering lapband). I told my boss I needed to take some time off for surgery. I left it that it was female stuff, he didn't want any further info....:heh: I don't need to put any extra pressure on myself by having people ask questions and constantly looking for updates. 6 weeks after surgery I'm headed on a 7 night cruise. I'm looking forward to the cruise, but I'm nervous already that I won't be able to control myself.... Tomorrow starts pre-op, or (how I'm tyring to look at this) - as the start of my new healthier lifestyle...

How are you feeling as date approaches?
Carolk1 replied to Jonesy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Heavy - I'm Dec 3rd and start my pre-op tomorrow. I just finished my official last supper and I have to say I'm ready for liquids. I have eaten so many last meals this week and believe me I enjoyed everyone of them, but I caught myself in a mirror at Macy's today and holy crap!!! I didn't recoginize myself. I was so disgusted and was thanking God that I am getting banded in a week. I started thinking on my ride home from the store how I shouldn't feel like I'm giving up anything. There are people in this world who are sick and aren't able to eat certain items or drink wine ever again in their lives. I'm only going to be separated from solid foods for the next 7 weeks and then I will be reunited again, but in smaller portions. So - I'm going into this liquid stage with a new attitude. And like you heavy my husband and I are a bit competive so he is planning on starting Weight Watchers this week. He claims it has nothing to do with me, but I know better. -

Glad to hear things started well for you Mejr62. I'm only doing pre-op for 7 days...So tomorrow is my truly last day of gluttony for ever....I must say I have eaten so well these past few weeks that I am really looking forward to the feeling of hunger. I haven't had that feeling in months. Also, Mejr62 - stop reading all the horror stories. Why bother? you are going to get banded and that's that...No need to freak yourself out ahead of time. Everyone is different and experiences things differently. You'll have to wait and see how your body adjust to the band...Good luck on pre-op! -

I have gained many pounds since deciding I wanted to have surgery. It sucks! But Monday is a new beginning - pre op begins! -
I'm preparing for my last weekend of the old eating habits. Monday starts pre-op!!!
-
I tried starting pre-op early and it just didn't work...I constantly fell off the wagon...I'm the kind of person that does best when there are consequeneces....There was no price to pay if I cheated starting early. If I fall of the wagon during the "official" pre-op I won't get surgery. That's what will keep me motivated and on plan! Again, another really good reason for the band for me...If I eat too much the consequence will be embarrasing pain...
-
unjury Update - ok so I tasted vanilla today...it was ok, tolerable....not fabulous like chocolate....I also realized today that I better buy some sort of liquid Protein drink since I start all liquids on monday. With the holiday tomorrow, I may not get my unjury shipped to arrive in time...So, what do I do??? I order 6 cans of Unjury just now...2 chocolate, 2 vanilla and 1 chicken broth and 1 unflavored....Hope I like it and continue to use it after the post op..... not cheap!!!! Anyway, going our for another last supper tonight...plan on eating bread and Pasta and lots and lots of wine!!! I'm being so terrible!!!

i am staying on plan today because ...

Tomecia - I love your reason to stay on plan today....It really hits home...I'm almost not scared, but when I can finally say I'm not scared anymore - that's when I'm going to start posting to this thread, so faor now I will keep reading and get encouragement and motivation...YAY for you!!! :cheer2: -
I bet on cyber monday, 11/26, 25hourfitness has huge discount for the holidays........Get ready!!!!!!
-
well I was going to try my chicken broth unjury today, but instead had a bagel and ice cream....silly me...I'm being a dope..I should really get on the stick already. Also, found out today that next week I have to spend hours at the hospital for pre-op testing and then the next day I have to make an appt with my general doc to recieve medical clearance...I was quite annoyed about this today because no one from the surgeon's office had made me aware of this until today....(and that was when I called to ask for a question)...I really don't think anyone gives a crap that surgery patients also have real jobs and lives that they are responsible for....ugh...just needed to get that off my chest!
-
Tomecia and all - I tried the Strawberry Unjury today and I tossed it right down the drain.....tasted really phony - so far I'm sticking with Choloate. I still have to try vanilla and chicken broth.....
-
I tried chocolate unjury today...Tasted pretty good....tomorrow I'm going to try the strawberry...My pre-op starts monday 11/25...I feel like every meal is the "last supper"
-

NEED ADVICE!!! Going on a cruise! (1 week post-op)
Carolk1 replied to BansterNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a great thread - I'm taking a Royal Caribbean cruise 6 weeks post op....I was worried about it and even considering moving it, but I'm going and it's going to be great! Bandster NYC - please update us after you return...I"m anxious to know how your recovery is on the boat...I just keep wondering how much less I'll be 6 weeks post op...probably not enough to wear the bikini....LOL...last time I wore a bikini I was in kindergarten... -
Spanx.....anyone wear them? I have a question.....
Carolk1 replied to JudiM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like them, but the high waisted ones I find to be uncomfortable because they roll down on me....perhaps I'm too big to wear them, but I find that I'm pulling up the high waisted ones all the time and if I don't pull up the waist part continually to my bra I get a large roll of spanx fabric around my waist..... -
welcome Gingi!!!!!

New - I can so relate to what you said... Everyday I recommit to myself that today is the day I'm going to watch and exercise. It lasts for a short period of time and then I get distracted or come up with some GREAT excuse to not start.....Again, I just need to recommit again tomorrow..... -
I'm having my surgery on 12/3, but TIA I will be on a pre-op diet for one week beginning on 11/27, so I will join you for your first week.

Here are ten rules for eating, drinking and exercise that will help you get the best results you can with the LAP-BAND System. How willing you are to follow a new way of eating is key to making the operation a success. Eat only three small meals a day Eat slowly and chew thoroughly (15-20 times a bite) Stop eating as soon as you feel full Do not drink while you are eating Do not eat between meals Eat only good quality food Avoid fibrous food Drink enough fluids during the day Drink only low-calorie fluids Exercise at least 30 minutes a day

Finally settling in on the Forum and getting started
Carolk1 replied to Gwenn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Gwen - I'm getting banded on 12/3 and feel and think all the things you've mentioned. I booked all my pre-op doc appts. immediately following the surgical consult. I had them completed within 2 weeks and then the waiting period began. All the docs needed to forward their results to the surgeon and then the surgeon's office had to put it all together and call me with a surgery date. That actually took the longest...I had to see a nutritionist, psychologist, cardiologist (EKG, stress test) , pulmonologist (xray and breathing test) and do an upper GI (barium swallow). It's seems like it's forever while you're waiting, but now that the date is set - it's really scary. I didn't belive everyone that the time would fly, but it does and it has...Now I've been eating some of my favorite indulgent meals (cheeseburger deluxe with fries). It's weird because I haven't eaten something like that in 5 years, but now I'm justifying it because I'm getting banded. This is not smart nor healthy, but I really do feel some level of deserving... good luck making your decision. These boards are great and you will learn tons.....It's really great following people and their accomplishments.... -
mejr63 - PB'ing is productive burbing....do a search on the threads and many people have described it in "great" detail.....ick!
-
ANTS - 11/26 I'm starting pre-op. Doctor said I only need to do 6 days liquids and 7th day clear liquids....I'm on the East Coast so I don't think we are going to be in the same hospital...LOL
-
YAY ANT your with me and Parrott!!!!! :clap2:

YES!!! Let's definitely start another exercise challenge thread for the MERRY LOSERS....
