    Home from 12/3 surgery

I was actually pleased that the surgeon was smart enough and confident enough to stop and say - nope I'm not going to do this. I respect him very much for that decision....

    Home from 12/3 surgery

Thanks 100 - I just feel a little foggy about everything and really want to make sure I continue my diet journey. Quite honestly, while I was in the hospital I started thinking about wow how I would love to eat some food that I haven't been able to eat in awhile and had planned not to eat for a long time...That scared me and still does...Obviously I am a food addict, no way getting around it..no hiding it....Now I think I really need to focus on building exercise into my life and breaking the addiction, just not sure where and/or how to break that addiction. I suppose it's a slow process. OA is not for me, went to a meeting and it was a little to cumbaya if you know what I mean...all holding hands and praying at the end...

Anybody started the pre-op diet yet??

Tomecia - looks like you will definitely be meeting your first goal..your 2lbs away. That's great. How long have you been on pre-op?

Anybody started the pre-op diet yet??

I have to be at the hospital at 5:45 am monday, boy is that early...I'm the first surgery at 7am...I guess that's good, except my doc requires every patient to stay over....starting to get a little nervous...just a twinge...

    UNJURY OK for Pre-Op diet?

Unjury chocolate and vanilla are great! Order the sampler pack and taste them all before buying them. Good luck to you...
  10. I love wine and enjoy going out for drinks, but I'm scared to even consider drinking after getting banded for fear of not losing weight. How are folks turning to drinking and still managing to lose or keep from gaining?

    December Surgery Dates

Ok so get this I have to be at the hospital Monday morning at 5:45am....That's insane. My surgery is at 7am and my doc makes you stay the night. So, I will be spending the entire day at the hospital and into the next day...I should bring my computer with me...by 4pm I'll be bored outta my mind....LOL My hubby was going to take the day off, but doesn't have to now. I will have had surgery he can say hello when I wake up and then go to work for the day while I rest at the hospital.....

Welcome to the 3rd Heavy.... Should we all report how our surgeries went when we get out of the hospital and are back home?

Cerrin - maybe you should have a decorating party after surgery...Invite your friends over and have them help you decorate....Could be fun if done in the right spirit.....
  15. Tomecia - I'm with you!!! Maybe I'm a little naieve but I only read a few of the complication threads - I don't focus on those..Also I read the polls. When people ask for others to vote I see the numbers are truly in our favor on all the polls - so let's all cruise through this waiting period... We're doing it together and we'll have fun with it over the next few months...I love that the other months do challenges and updates...it's great

i am staying on plan today because ...

I'm staying on plan today - because I walked a mile this morning and I don't want that to have been for nothing.
  17. As the date approaches - I feel eerily calm. It's almost weird it's as if I'm going to be heading to the hospital monday, come home tuesday, be a little uncomfortable, but plan to take it easy, but continue with my life, i.e. work from home via my laptop and drink my water and liquids. I told my boss I needed a few days off, he told me take a week I said, why I will do emails wed - Fri no need to take off....I hope I'm not kidding myself, but I am really approaching this as it's a blip in my life and once I get banded I will just be starting another phase of improving my life to be more balanced and healthy....Almost uneventful! We'll see how I feel Monday morning on the way to the hospital...I could be singing a whole different tune ..LOL

Anybody started the pre-op diet yet??

Heavy - have you been weighing yourself during pre-op? I'm a nut about daily weighing (always have been), but it's nice to feel a little lighter everyday. It surprises me that I'm down 5.3 pounds in 3 days, although I feel like I've lost 20. It's great to have that feeling again. Instead of waking up every morning feeling sorry for myself since I ate so much food the night before. I love the euphoric feelings that come with dieting. I guess this is why I have been a serial dieter my whole life....

Cerrin - I wouldn't get too comfortable with the thought that you should be sitting and resting and having visitors after surgery. I had my educational seminar with the nurse this week and she made it very clear that - yes we may get tired and should lay down, but the worst thing we could do is sit or lay in bed all day to recouperate. We should be up and walking around as much as possible.... So, perhaps there is no need to stress out so much with getting decorations done - you can do them while you're taking laps around the house.

Anybody started the pre-op diet yet??

Ok so I'm on my 3rd day pre-op and I must be nuts....I actually am enjoying this....I have 3 shakes a day, yogurt, jello, ice pops and soup for dinner...it's great...the worst part is drinking a full gallon of water a day. I'm in the bathroom constantly all day long. I just love not having so much to choose from. My hubby of course is complaining that I'm using too much toilet paper...it's always something...hee/hee
  23. Thanks for reminding me about the one food at a time....My surgery is Monday 12/3....It's almost here!!! Doing my pre-op now and actually enjoying it...I feel good about sticking to the liquids, it's much easier when you don't have a lot to choose from

    December Surgery Dates

I feel the need to share with my fellow Merry Losers! So I'm on day 2 of pre-op and still alive....It's actually not so bad. I do well with limited options. I know everytime I look or even think about food, I tell myself you eat that no surgery....It works for me.... So today was another one of those miserably busy doctor days that I remember from back when I was getting all the pre-work done...This morning I had to go to the hospital for about 1 1/2 hrs for pre surgery tests (bloodwork, lots of questions, mini physical, meet with Anesthesiologist). This afternoon I had to go back to the hospital (surgeons office) and sit through a 2 hour educational seminar for all bandsters getting banded within the next 2-3 weeks. It was very informative, but I'm finding it difficult to hold down a very demanding job through all of these appts....tomorrow I have to go to my own doctor for surgical clearance...yet again another appt. during work hours. The best part of all of this. I didn't come home and eat any bad foods or drink lots of wine and feel terrible about the scale in the morning!!! As I was driving home I kept thinking - tonight would have been the classic go home, have 2 glasses of wine, and go out to a gluttonuos(sp?) meal with hubby....YAY for me I came home had a big glass of water and a protein shake!!! A lighter happier me is going to be here soon!!!!! :whoo:
