So I am 12 days post-op and I started purees a few days ago. I noticed yesterday when I was eating that my right boob felt really sore all of a sudden. This morning I was eating breakfast and I it again- only this time in my left boob! I guess that's my clue to stop eating- lol!

Protein shake samples

Unjury single serve packets are about 1/3 cup- I don't know if it varies from brand ti brand. -
I didn't know I had gallstones until they were discovered on my my pre-op abdominal ultrasound. Doc told me I have probably been having attacks for years when I ate fried foods but didn't know what they were. I said I didn't eat much fried food so I didn't know- then remembered how incredibly sick I got the last few times I had falafel! They removed my gallbladder when they did my sleeve and I am hoping some day I will be a ble to eat falafel again because I do love it!

Yum! I am not allowed raw apple yet but I bet you could use baby applesauce or pumpkin puree. You could also try a splash of lemon juice.

Try adding pb2 to sugar free dark chocolate pudding- yum! I add milk too because my sleeve does best with very thin purees.

I am so sorry. Do you have strong pain killers left? Sounds like a good day to use them! -
I am trying to make all my purée meals high in protein so I can cut down on the shakes, which I am really sick of! Lots of cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. I still need to have at least one shake a day too or I don't get enough protein.

I think I over did it.

Baby food fruits that start with a P are natural laxatives- peaches, prunes, pears. -
Gotta say purees are way better than liquids only! I had baby applesauce sprinkled with cinnamon for breakfast, cottage cheese for lunch and mashed potatoes for dinner. The only thing I am trying to figure out is how to get the liquids in between meals since the meals take a while and I am not supposed to drink before or after each meal. I may need to set a schedule! I will be on purees for 3 weeks.

Has everyone had their one week post-op appointment? Mine was today and I was relieved to hear that everything I am experiencing is normal and no cause for alarm. Excited to start purees tomorrow!

I was sleeved 8 days ago and I am waking up each morning to find that I am drenched in sweat. I don't feel hot or have a fever and I keep the temperature pretty cool in my bedroom. Has anyone else experienced this?

Worried because I haven't found a protein shake yet.

I found the ready to drink shakes easier to tolerate than the powders. I tried a few vanilla varieties and decided to stick to chocolate ones. If you haven't tried Ensure High Protein Milk Chocolate flavor, I would check it out- is has a much thinner, smoother texture than some of the others. The taste of premiere protein chocolate is ok but the texture is way too thick for me so I thin it with water. Muscle Milk Light is pretty good too and is lactose free. On a whim I tried their mango peach variety and I actually really liked it but it is hard to find. You might want to order a sample pack from unjury- the protein "chicken" broth is really good and a wonderful break from the shakes! -
I'm 8 days post-op and still on liquids- I don't know if I've felt hungry exactly but I do sometimes feel weak and "empty" in a slightly uncomfortable way. I am also pretty darn sick of shakes, especially since only one brand seem to sit well with my baby tummy. broth and popsicles between shakes are keeping me afloat but boy am I looking forward to purees- I actually browsed the baby food aisle at the supermarket today and was amazed at all the different varieties available these days!

First day of full liquids- diarrhea normal?
tiredmama posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 days post-op. Today is my first day of full liquids. Had a protein shake for breakfast sipping slowly over the course of an hour and it went fine. Tried again at lunchtime and had major diarrhea. Does that mean I drank too fast or had too much? No nausea. I am confused about how much liquid to take in- worried about dehydration but also don't want to overdo it. -
The nutritionist at my pre-op class said there was no need to count calories at this stage and just to concrete on staying hydrated and getting in as much protein as possible. I tried driving today and found it pretty uncomfortable on my incisions.

Hi June 30 buddies! We got through the first week. For me, I am starting to feel stronger and am doing a little more- yesterday I did some organizing in son's playroom (no lifting) and took a short walk down the block. Both felt good but tired me out! I plan to start driving today so no more narcotics for me. When is everyone allowed to start purees? I have a few more days on full liquids.

I am in a similar boat- 6 days post-op. Yesterday I was finally back to my day of surgery weight and today another 4 pounds down, which feels awesome. My main struggle is reducing my need for the pain meds- I tried Tylenol only yesterday and I was not a happy camper. I did take a dose of the prescription stuff this morning and I will see if I can manage without another dose today- my motivation is that I really want to start driving again tomorrow (short distances) so I can run some easy errands.

@@manofsize, so far I have only tried protein shakes, soup, sugar free Popsicles and sugar free jello. Plain water isn't sitting well so I am drinking vitamin water zeros and decaf iced tea. My manual from the nutritionist says that all of the following are allowed on full liquid stage- fully pureed soups, cream of wheat made very runny, sugar free yogurts thinned with milk, no sugar added smooth ice cream. Too much dairy can upset my stomach so I am going to pick up some almond milk and soy milk so I have other options for thinning things out or mixing with protein powders.

I am getting itchy too! Incisions are sore and bruised. I am trying to cut down on my pain meds so I can start driving on Monday- nothing major, just need to start picking my son up from camp a mile away from home on weekday afternoons. Grateful I get another week off before I have to go back to work because I get tired out quite easily. I figured out that my sleeve hates one particular brand of protein shake (I drank it all the time pre-op) so I will avoid that one for now. I am trying to alternate between shakes and pureed soups (thinned with skim milk) just for a little variety. I don't really get hungry but my energy is better if I have something other than clear liquids a couple of times per day. Not yet meeting my protein goal (60-80 grams) but getting closer.

If i only know getting sleeve was so painfull
tiredmama replied to tarbaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This thread is helpful- I am 4 days post-op and really need my pain meds every 4-5 hours. I had my gallbladder removed in addition to the sleeve so maybe that's contributing to more pain? I am tolerating liquids well- I am just so sore! I don't think it is gas pain. I have six incisions. -
I am trying some Soup now- Progresso Artisan Masala Curry Butternut Squash. It is nice and smooth right out of the carton but a little thick so I added some skim milk to thin it out. It's quite good!
-
Doing pretty well- yesterday I think I drank a protein shake too fast and then I felt yucky so I went back to clear liquids for the rest of the day. Some incision pain so still pretty reliant on pain med every 4-6 hours. Weighed myself and still 4 pounds up from day of surgery weight, which I guess is swelling? No hunger, no nausea.

Hi all! I am considering joining Costco and was wondering if anyone knows their prices for ready to drink high protein low sugar shakes like premier protein. I have a "rule" that I won't pay for than $2/shake max ever and I try to spend $1.50 or less most of the time. Target's own brand is only $4.79 on a 4 pack and taste great but they only have chocolate and vanilla.
