A couple questions: WLS Friendly Restaurants and Ice
Birthsjourney replied to kespy74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bob Evans beefy veg soup ( leave out the corn) Wendy's chili, jr Arby's ( I only eat half the bun) grilled nuggets from Chickfil-o. I live on shrimp cocktails ... My go to at many dinners out! But I am 4 months out now. It would be hard every meal on vacation. If u have access to an oven... Break up a GNC quest bar and broil it for a minute! Taste awesome! Drink an Isopure daily ( 40 grams of protein.). The apple melon is good.. My favorite "out" fast food is Boston Market.. Not shown on the menu but ask to purchase only the 1/4 white meat for $4.59 .. Gives us 49 grams of protein.. Good luck and enjoy the vacation! -
November 2013 Post Op
Birthsjourney replied to Janifer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Love post from our November crew! My RNY was on the 18th. I am down 70 #'s and feel better than I have in years! At almost 65 years Old I am working towards walking a 5K with my daughters in a few months! I stall for weeks at a time and the scales have certainly slowed way down but my surgeons team says that is going to happen since I am 26 pounds from goal. Sticking to my plan and realizing how much the fat hide my wrinkles! Lol alimarie... I send you hugs on your paypal account! That was funny! -
Found if u take your protein bar and pinch off small pieces and roll them ...place onto an oven proof plate.. Turn on broiler for about 2.30 to 3 minutes .. Then remove! It leaves you with a mild crunch on the outside with a warm gooey center! Apple pie, almond crunch quest bars are my favorites ???? Let's pretend this is our spring girls count cookies that we gave up for this. Amazing new life! # 70 pounds in 4 months and feeling great! ENJOY

I eat a Quest bar for lunch , if I am on the run... But it is really yummy if you stick it in the microwave for 8 seconds! My blood sugars don't raise after having one but will if I eat more than that amount of carbs!

Protein without milk
Birthsjourney replied to belinda.w's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
GNC carries a clear protein drink called Isopure. I drink one each day! 40 grams in a 20 oz bottle... My favorite is the apple melon flavor! Try one ... -
Sometimes I think I have been in a stall longer then the few days here and there that I lose! It does get discouraging but I feel better, look better and at 64 now know fat fills out wrinkles! Lol I am down 60#s but have only lost a few pounds in the last month .. I must trust the process and believe it will move down at some point as I track everything on Myfitnesspal and my FitBit band! Head hunger is tough but I am learning! I stay under 700 calories, get 70 grams protein and 64ozs of fluids.... 3 months post RNY

November 2013 Post Op
Birthsjourney replied to Janifer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Elizabeth... I can eat more but then my pouch just sends it back up much like an infant! Lol Most comfortable keeping it at 1/2 cup! My surgeon says that I will never drink half hour prior, 1/2 hour to eat and still no liquids for 1/2 hour post meal.... Warns that If you do , your proteins will not be absorbed for nourishment but will be flushed right through your pouch... Causing hunger and malnourishment issues! No thanks! I cannot tolerate chicken either.. But fish, shrimp, turkey, refried beans and ham all work ok... Eggs not so much now.. I don't eat red meat as I don't like it.. Don't like fat free cheeses either ( I eat small piece of reduced fat cheese ). Love Targets Simply Balanced rice crackers with a laughing cow cheese wedge! My big treat.. Haha Glad to hear your moving past the liquids... I bet you are ready for some cottage cheese and cinnamon..! Best wishes to you. Dyan from frozen over Ohio! -
Yes your shake counts into your total daily liquids ..... Walk as much as you can.. Speeds up everything! Try mio drops into your water... Many cannot get all the fluids and proteins in the first few weeks.. It will get better! Best of luck and welcome to the LOSERS bench!!

Good to see November newbies are now becoming expert members! Look how far we've come! I am loving this journey and have no regrets! Down 60 pounds but have had to deal with only losing 5 pounds in the last month! Stalls are a tough mental issue but I try to remember that my success is not just a number on my scale! Thankful for no issues like dumping or real bowel issues... Almost am beginning to enjoy the YMCA for more than the warm therapy pool..LOL MY POUCH LETS ME KNOW WHEN IT IS DONE BUT KICKING OFF A RUNNY NOSE! Guess it is less crazy then many , who get those loud hi-cups I read about here Keep doing our surgeons plan.. Share your stories.. It supports us all.. Dyan from Ohio -

Best option - food planning help please
Birthsjourney replied to KittyKat848's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I often just order a shrimp cocktail... your two fish choices sound like smart ones... Just only eat 1/4 cup total. Fish is always a great go to.. I always ask them to prepare it with miniumal fats and if you need to fake it... just say it is not to your likeing... take it home and have dinner all week from the leftovers.. Your now a cheap date! LOL Smart patient to plan ahead... Enjoy your family first! -
anyone have gastric bypass in november?
Birthsjourney replied to rosey7415's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
SherriB.. I had my surgery RNY on Nov 18th also.. I think the Holidays would of been harder if I had been further out! I am glad they are past us now! Hope everyone is moving through this journey well and learning to find excitement in each new discovery.. Not just the # on the scale! I am down 60# but my stalls can last for weeks... My NUT says since I only have 37 to goal , they want it to slow now. Just have to stick to the plan daily! I would of liked to of had warmer weather to be out in for increased activities instead of indoors at the health club but this terrible winter in Ohio surely can't go on forever! -
