    Surgeons in North Carolina

I am 3 weeks post op with Vilanuejva. I see him in Ballantyne with Carolinas Weight Management. I absolutely love him and the staff. He has been great to work with and no, he doesn't send you home with a drain.
  3. So I am in the dreaded 3rd week stall and holding at a total loss of 30lbs. I am keeping my head up though because I wore a "sexy" pair of jeans per my friends last night. They had been in my closet for 11 years!

    Anyone in north carolina

I don't know Dr Bauman, but Dr. Vilanuejva is in Concord and Balantyne. He was phenomenal! Great bedside manner, easy to talk with, clear on his directions and the kind of person who ask about my family. I have had a great recovery with minimal pain. I don't work for him but as a healthcare professional he is the kind of doctor I love! This was a scary step to take and having the right doctor was key for me!

    Calories

Sounds like you are doing great. My dr and NUT have said They expect 1000-1200 calories per day and 70-100 grams of protein.
  6. Although your dr has to be the definitive answer, My dr said as long as a pill was dime size or smaller it was fine to take. I have psoriatic arthritis with hip, knee and back pain. Before surgery I was on remicaid every 6 weeks but had to skip a dose. I still took Advil multiple times every day and occasional narcotics in the evening. I am only 2 weeks post op and pain has not been an issue. I switched to liquid Tylenol post op instead of Advil and the lortab I was given is liquid. I also would swear I already am experiencing less pain and I think it has to do with the increased water. It's worth the transition!

    Protein drinks

You can also order Premier online through Sams website. My entire family loves them!
  8. Weekly check in: HW 241 SW 222 CW 213 Sleeved 12/31 I have felt great and done well with protein and fluid since the surgery. I got up this morning feeling good but about an hour ago started have a stabbing (not unbearable) right beside my belly button. I have my gallbladder, I did have a hernia repair with the sleeve. I feel dizzy and just "pukey" but not really able to drink much. Any advice?

    What to expect?

Nate-as a mom and a person 9 days post sleeve I am so proud of you! This is a huge decision that you have obviously put a lot of thought into! I struggled with my weight in High School but never put forth a real effort to address it. You are pretty awesome! As a newbie to my sleeve, I only have a few pieces of advice. Stay off the scale post surgery.... You will hear this over and over but it can play with your head. The weight will come off. In the beginning it is to early to analyze every bite you take because your body is going through so many adjustments. Walk, walk walk.... I had read that over and over and took it to heart. There were times in the hospital I did not feel like walking but I forced myself to get up and move. I was off pain meds quick and feeling great when I left the hospital. I walked the halls every 2 hours which was easy in the hospital since they are always waking you. 9 days post op I feel great and even with the cold I have hot the mall or somewhere that I could walk. The last thing, which may be personal but I have a teenager so I feel like an expert, communicate with those taking care of you. If you are having pain or feeling sick let people know. Most of all, communicate about bowel habits. It's more than most want to know but many people battle constipation and it can get serious. Pain meds, low Fluid intake and high Protein set the stage. It's not a big deal as long as you are proactive. Talk to your dr about their expectations and recommendations, just in case! Hope that wasn't TMI but I want you to succeed! Again, I am so proud!! Cyn
  11. I am in the same boat and just posted about it last night. Sounds like we are the lucky ones! I agree about the PPI totally!
  12. Thanks for the info on the protein absorption.... Already heeding the advice this morning! I start some puréed foods today so I expect another slow down.
  13. I was struggling with my Protein but found that I could add 1 scoop (20 grams) of GNC Amplified chocolate powder to my pre made Premier Protein Chocolate shake (30 grams). Since I can only get down about 2 per day this gives me 50 grams in the AM and 30 grams in a plain one in the evening. Each Premier shake is only 11ounces so the quantity is not impossible. With the extra powder in the morning one it takes about 2 hours to get it down. Just a suggestion....
  14. Thanks for your reassurance!
