2 Days Post Op and Boy, Are My Arms Tired!
SnohoGal98296 replied to SnohoGal98296's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I talked to the Doc, he said it was the anathesia, that it is a combination of drugs that put you to sleep, immobilize you and relax you. He said it sounded like I tensed up before the relaxation part kicked in and that is why I felt like I had been digging ditches. I feel so much better today, I think it helped to know what it was. ... -
IF YOU COULD tell yourself this 1 thing BEFORE U HAD SURGERY what would THAT BE?
SnohoGal98296 replied to cindyvirden.com's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That first few days will be very tough, but that struggle will be worth it. That this really is major surgery, and it will hurt. That all of this will be worth it soon... -
I am so happy to see this post, I am 1 day post-op and very bubbly, I can't really call them burps, it is just air that creeps up my throat instead of burping its way out. I am half way through the day and have had 4 oz water and 2 oz chicken broth, and maybe 1 oz of clear jello. I feel like I have eaten a mega dinner and just taking my sips is difficult. I am staying with it and will soldier on! Come on 9 days postop! I return to work on day 10 so I want to feel somewhat normal by then :-D

June 11th - Today is VSG Day!
SnohoGal98296 replied to SnohoGal98296's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone.. Thanks for the well wishes! Everything went well, we had a little delay, but I was sleeved early afternoon. It was a long night, but the center has these amazing recliners so I never touched the bed. The nurses say that most folks stay in the recliners. That being said I am looking forward to going home to my comfortable bed and recliner :-D I was wondering, after going without food from midnight how I would feel when I woke up, would I be starving? Well I have been working on the same bottle of water all night, 16 oz bottle and 3 ounces to go. .. they gave me chicken broth, I think I have had about 2 tblspoons, and SF jello cup, I have eaten about a Tblspn, keep in mind these measurements span the whole afternoon and last night, all tiny sips and dribbles... I will have work hard when I am off IV fluids to ensure I get my 6 oz at home! -

Insurance Approval for Excess Skin Removal
SnohoGal98296 replied to livvsmum's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Start documenting any skin rashes or infections by going to your PCP - that is the big one I hear, document, document, document. Check your coverage - does it include skin removals? mine specifically excludes skin removal due to weight loss. Good Luck! -
Vsg 4 weeks out and struggling
SnohoGal98296 replied to vsg_meredith's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am still pre-op, but from reading other posts similar to yours, the general consensus is this: Keep up the good fight - this is a long road and it is worth it! Your Mushies - are the high carb? Mashed Potatoes, Refried Beans? They can give you head hunger if they are high carb. Drink, Drink, Drink Lots of Water (well really, Sip, Sip, Sip) You may be considered a "light weight", you can't judge your weight loss with a man who is 400 lbs and loses 47 lbs the first two weeks, losing 14lbs in one month is still pretty darn awesome! You really have lost 29lbs since Pre-Op, that is amazing! Give yourself a pat on the back! Chin Up Girl - it gets better! Hope this helps :-D -

Day 4, SO hungry :(
SnohoGal98296 replied to kerweav's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on Day 8, it does get better, days at work are easier because I can lose myself in work and I find myself reminding me to eat (drink a shake). This weekend was pretty tough, being so close to a huge selection of food. But my son graduated from high school on Saturday, so I was distracted for most of the day. I panicked when I realized I had no acceptable items with me when we sitting down for a two hour graduation ceremony, but I was able to buy a bottled Water and add crystal light, that helped as people were eating candy and popcorn all around me. Today I spent buying all of my Clear liquids for the first three days, and full liquids for up through week 2. The grocery store was tough with all of those beautiful foods, some healthy some sugar bombs! I have 2 more days before going to the surgical center. I am getting sleeved on Weds! I can't believe it is so close! -

Pre-Op Diet - Guilty Heartburn?
SnohoGal98296 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I have been on the pre-op diet for 6 days and this morning I was 9 lbs down from Sunday when I started. Today was a tough day of temptation at work, it was June Birthdays day and they served some incredibly beautiful gourmet cupcakes - I was successful in staying with my protein shake! But today was also a celebration for half of my department who just finished a 6 month long training program. So everybody walked across the street to the local BBQ joint and the company was paying for beers and food. The table was loaded with pitchers of beer and bbq! Luckily one of the platters was smoked chicken breast, dry rubbed no sauce and the ribs were dry rubbed as well. So I had an ounce of chicken and 3 oz of pork. According to MyFitnessPal that fit in to my 350 meal for the day. I drank only water. When I got home I had veggies only and was within 100 calories of my target calories for the day. But now I have terrible heartburn! I have been chewing tums and drinking lots of water but oh man this burns! I am thinking that my very bland diet for the past 6 days is now paying me back by reacting to the first flavorful thing I have eaten all week. Or I am feeling guilty for enjoying that smoky protein and I am having sympathy pains! Acckkk - running for more tums! -
day 1 of pre-op liquid diet
SnohoGal98296 replied to DollFaceKi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep up the good fight - I am day 6 and toady was easier than yesterday, which was easier than Wednesday, etc. The first two days were really tough and I am still getting bouts of head hunger but it was easier today. Today was the "June Birthday" day at work and I "got" to attend the department Birthday party which featured 2 dozen of fancy gourmet cupcakes in all kinds of flavors and I was able to drink my zero calorie Sobe Lifewater and not feel too bad. I just posted on another pre-op diet discussion where a gal said that week 2 is even easier - so I feeling better about being at home all weekend, rather than work where I am not staring at my husband and 17 year old who both can anything they want as much as they want and never gain weight... -
How long do these headaches last?
SnohoGal98296 replied to sweetangel7998jj's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the headache for two days, and was dizzy slash slightly nauseated for 4 days - I am on day 6 and finally I felt pretty normal. My pre-op diet consists of 3 or 4 shakes of 160 calories or less each plus one light meal or around 250-350 calories, not to exceed 870 calories daily. About the 3rd day I was pretty tired of chocolate shakes, so I finally branched out and tried an orange flavored Protein shake (Syntrax nectar Sweets Fuzzy Navel) with Water and it was pretty good! I also tried a Click Mocha drink and it was passable. My point? The water based shakes are much lower in calories, so I wasn't hitting the 870 calories, I was averaging high 600's - mid 700's, so I was adding a greek yogurt or cottage cheese after dinner. I have lost 9 lbs in 6 days. This weekend is my last weekend as my surgery is on Wednesday - so I am doing a last chance house cleaning marathon and shopping for all my Clear liquids for the 1st week post op. I really hope this busy schedule will help me avoid the stress of constant food availability here at home, I really relied on being at work this week because I could lose myself in work and avoid temptation. So I am hoping that @@Jennifer0609 is right and the 2nd week is a lot easier! -
Pre-op tests that I am having anyway
SnohoGal98296 replied to Travelmego's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am going to go out on a limb and say that the cost @@Travelmego insurance would want pre-approval for is the WLS, not the pre-op tests. In fact I bet they are betting that something in the pre-op tests will exclude the surgery - because they are Dr. Evil like that :-D Good Luck and Best Wishes Travelmego! -

Pre-op tests that I am having anyway
SnohoGal98296 replied to Travelmego's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am self-pay too, my insurance excludes bariatric surgery, to get your tests paid for the Doctors code the comorbidities, like heart burn, high blood pressure, blood work results, etc. sleep tests are based upon visuals like your neck size and being tired, they find a way and none of it is unethical because these test are not WLS specific. -
Wearing cpap after surgery?
SnohoGal98296 replied to tiredtwinmommy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon has said I have to bring my CPAP or they won't do the surgery, if they elect to keep you overnight they want to be sure you are oxygenated during sleep, that is my understanding. .. -

Try mixing done of the isopure with a sugar free Gatorade, you get your hydration and protein, it helps to mask the taste. -
