About Me

  • Biography
I have been overweight most of my life with a twin sister who is half the size of me. That obviously makes it much harder for me but she has never looked at me any differently. I have recently had my surgery and I feel really good so far.

I used Dr. Borao out of Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. I can't say enough about their program and the team they have working there.

Any know of a GOOD light mayo?

Hellman's Light Mayo is good, that's what I use for everything. Good luck.

Good luck. My advice is eat slowly and chew everything to the consistency of applesauce.

    I pulled my port!

I had my surgery on July 2nd and I still randomly get that sharp pain by my port when I move the wrong way. It does concern me but everytime I say something to my doctors office they say it is normal and the more active you are the longer it may take to heal. I'm happy to know there are other people out there that have this pain as well.

    making a bad mistake

Hi Maddog, Maybe you should work with your dietician. I did that to keep myself in check and it's help tremendously. It holds you accountable. I also make sure I write everything down and figure out my calorie, fat and Protein intake each meal. You are right when you say you didnt' go through all of this just to fail. It's hard and no one said it would be easy but you made the decision to have the band now make the decision to eat healthy. This is a life changing surgery if you allow it to be. Start fresh, today is a new day. Forget about what you ate yesterday and start eating healthy again. Eat what they recommend and you will see the pounds fall off. Good luck.
  10. Hi there, I had the lapband surgery with Dr. Borao 5 weeks ago and he and the team are great. I know from going to many support groups that there are a few people who work for St. Barnabas and have had the surgery covered by insurance. For me my wait was only 3 months but it depends on your insurance company and what they need you to do before having the surgery such as working with a nutritionist for up to 6 months. I did not want the bypass surgery and felt that the band was the way to go and so far so good. There is a local support group at MMC the last Thursday of the month and I really suggest that you go because it's ran by the nurse, nutritionist and psychologist that work with Dr. Borao so if you have questions or concerns they can be answered. I hope this helps and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me.
