    9months out help

My weight loss had slowed to crawl as well. HW was 290, currently at 171 with about 26 lbs to go. The last 2 months I think I've only dropped a couple of pounds a month. My diet and liquids have been spot on. I thought I could just wait it out, but it's looking like I may needs to figure out a course of action. My calories are pretty consistent at around 1,100-1,200, under 20 carbs a day. I'm thinking I may need to cut back to 800 to get the rest of this weight off. Ugh!

    Too many carbs?

I think that when we follow the rule of protein first, then veggies, fruit and finally complex carbs, we naturally are eating lower carb simply because we just won't have the room for them. I think where many get into trouble is when they change up that order and carbs are eaten before protein. Most of us need to make a point of being vigilant to these rules. It's so easy to get a little off track and get derailed.
  3. Thanks for posting this. It reminds all of us that we have to be vigilant and that really is a life long journey. I think you need to forgive yourself for getting off track and get back to business. I would go back to basics, act like you've just had surgery and tomorrow is your first day home. Concentrate on getting in all your Water and drink Protein shakes for a day or 2, then progress on, eating protein first. Make sure your following all the "rules" like in the beginning. Take yourself back there and give yourself a "do over" reminding yourself you had surgery and have a great tool that needs to be used appropriately

    Fighting To Keep My Perspective

Well I'm 5'6", weight 174 and still wear a L/XL tops and 14/16 pants. I have 29 lbs to go, but I suspect that until I can manage a tummy tuck, I'll always wear at least a 12 in pants. We're all shaped differently, either we commit to working out butts off to fix what we can and get plastics on the rest or embrace our success and carry on. The way I see it, when I weighed 290lbs, I didn't look good in clothes or naked. Now at 174, I still don't look good naked, but I do look a lot better in clothes you'll get to the reg sizes, you're almost there

    Protein vs. Calories

When the premiere protein shakes are tasting too sweet to me, I just an oz or so of milk and it makes it much better.

    BS Access+ HMO Bakersfield, Ca

I am taylormomof6 with a new user name. I had gastric sleeve 10/24/2013 at KMC, paid for by Kern Family Heath Care, Medi-cal. I did have to pay $1000 program fee and $65 for the nutritionist, the rest was covered, including all tests and the psyc. Kelly runs the program and is great dealing with insurance. I was approved within a week of submital. I'm thrilled with my decision and have lost a total of 111lbs and counting. I still have 34lbs to get to my goal.
  8. I'm 5 months out, he 290 and lost 61lbs in the 6 months prior to surgery and have lost 50 lbs since surgery. My rate of loss is 10lbs a month, prior to as well as after surgery. I can't really say if I would have lost at a higher rate after surgery if I'd not lost so much prior, but I'd guess yes, simply because when you weigh more, it usually comes off a bit faster, but either way, it was weight I had lost and I felt like I was ahead of the game
  9. I'm a slow loser too, 34lbs since 10/24. Sure, I'd love it to be faster, but I'm doing my part. That's all I can do. I drove myself crazy trying to figure out what I could do to change it, but I just had to change my concentration back to following my plan and away from how quickly the scales moves. Honestly, I really wouldn't care so much if I knew that someday I'm going to get to goal, but it's terrifying to think that my "honeymoon period" is ticking away and my body hasn't let me take advantage of it. I fear I won't be successful and that scares the daylights out of me.

    Myfitnesspal - buddies?

    I'm taylormomto6, I had surgery 10/24
  13. My surgery was 10/24. I lost 10 lbs the first 12 days, after that I've worked for every pound. I've lost 28lbs since surgery. I eat clean, low carb and track everything. I move my body everyday. I'm not exactly thrilled with my rate of loss and yes, I lost faster many times on diets before surgery. The only thing I can think of is that I lost 60 lbs in the 6 months prior to surgery on Atkins, so I guess my body was used to it, but whatever the reason, it's slow, but I've lost almost 90 lbs since April. Have 56 lbs to go and I will get there, fast or slow I do sometimes get jealous reading about others that just eat smaller portions of what they ate before surgery and lose faster than I do, but all I can do is follow the rules and the rest is up to my body

    Hungry or acid?

Protonix worked for me when Prilosec and Pepcid didn't. I also think it got better when I started waiting at least 45 mins after eating to drink rather than the 30 minutes I was told to wait.
  15. I'm just over 2 months out. Surgery weight was 229 and now I'm 202, so 27 lbs, which seems pretty slow to me. My Dr gave me permission about 10 days ago to eat very low carb (under 30g) and I've lost 3 lbs since then. I'm hoping low carb helps me lose a bit faster. Either way, I feel better and don't have hunger or cravings so I'm sticking to it
