April 2013 Post-Op Group
iamsoworthit replied to Wendilou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my!! And I was just complaininf to my hubby about how cold it is here. I live in florida and it was in the low 40s today. I swear 40s at the beach feels colder than when I lived in upstate ny! My husband says im a cold wimp. Lol -
Mine is the same way. I never thought I'd even think about a tummy tuck but I have to admit I'm really thinking I may go that route. I have about 35 more lbs to lose and am noticing myself tucking my tummy into my jeans. Not cute.

Just had conversion from LapBand to RNY December 19, 2013
iamsoworthit replied to tenoradm's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your story sounds very similar to mine. I had the lapband surgery in June, 2008. I was 230 lbs at the time of surgery and was able to get down to about 180. After about 2.5 years I started having problems with really bad reflux and heartburn. I had never had those issues prior to the surgery. After numerous fills / unfills and about 1.5 years of having terrible reflux and ignoring it I finally went in to see my dr about potentially converting to RNY. That happened in January of 2013. I wasn't sure if I was serious at that time about the conversion but I was ready for the band to come out. I was sent for an EGD and it was when I was diagnosed with intestinal metaplasia in my stomach that I realized what harm I was doing to myself and decided to go all the way. I had my conversion to RNY in June of 2013 and knew when I woke up it was much better. I no longer had that heavy feeling on my chest. After I healed, I didn't feel that pain in my stomach from the port anymore (I had gotten to the point I couldn't sleep on my stomach as a result). I too had a JP drain for 1 month post op and that part was actually the worst part of the whole conversion. I was pretty much house bound because I didn't want to go anywhere with that drain. Once it came out I healed quickly and was back to work in 6 weeks. I am now 164 lbs and doing really well. I feel great and for once actually feel somewhat confident I'm going to get to my goal and stay there. Today I went shopping with my husband and I bought size medium petite sweaters. I looked at them and thought, "they are way too small, they will never fit". Yet, I put them on and they fit perfectly. Not too tight - perfect. Life after my RNY conversion couldn't be better. I wish you luck with your conversion and hope you have the same experience, if not better than me. Good luck!! -
Friday Weigh-In!
iamsoworthit replied to KevinsBabyGirl85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
164 this week! That is 2 lbs down from last week and yep, you read that correctly all that and Christmas week to boot! I am ready to buckle down and get out of the "obesity" range and into "overweight". I have 4 more lbs to go and am hoping to be there in the next two weeks. My weight loss has slowed a lot but I'm still hoping to be able to get to 125 by my one year surgerversary in June. No one can say I won't give it my all and try, try, try. -
Is it bad that I am so glad Christmas is over? I am ready to get back to a normal schedule. I am off work next week and plan to get back into the gym and focus on me. Not because it is a New Years resolution but because I want to and it makes me feel good. I really have come to the conclusion that I don't like the bad food anymore that I used to love. It doesn't make me feel good. It is kind of a good thing if you ask me.

How about some NSVs!?!?
iamsoworthit replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last night I bought a new pair of high heeled, to the knee leather boots to wear with skirts. In the past I always had to buy the 'extended calf' ones. I bought the normal ones and one pair I tried on were even too big in the calf. On top of that I got them 30% off. Yay!! -
Yay!! Isn't it funny how thrilling overweight can be? Congratulations on getting to the next level.
-
I have six pounds to get out of the obese bmi category and into overweight (I am 166 currently). I really want to start the new year with obesity officially behind me. I am pushing hard but not sure I can do it because I am such a slow loser. I am trying tho.

Not losing lbs
iamsoworthit replied to Monykaperez1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's my plan. I need pants badly. My size 14s can be pulled off without unbuttoning. Lol. I told my hubby my plan is to buy 3 pairs after the holidays when sales are good. -

lap bad to Bypass on 12/10
iamsoworthit replied to M.A. Cruz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Feel better! I was converted from band to bypass in june and had a rough go but not as bad as you. I ended up with a drain fro a full month afterward which was pure torture for me. I was so thankful when my surgeon took it out. Remember to rest, drink your fluids try for your protein and most importantly go easy on yourself. -
Aww thanks everyone! My journey has been longer than some but I don't regret a single minute of it. You all have been so supportive and I am so thankful I found this site when I had my conversion surgery. I learn something new every day from you all. So thank you!!

How about some NSVs!?!?
iamsoworthit replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hit 100 lbs lost today. not since surgery but from my highest weight of 267 back in 2008 when I started this weight loss journey. I am so happy that I achieved this milestone. 40 more to go to get to my personal goal of 'solidly' being in the 120s. -
I hit a milestone today! I am 167 that is officially 100 lbs down from my all time highest weight of 267. I am so proud of myself. It has taken five years, a lap band, removal of the lapband and conversion to rny but I got it! I want to lose another 40 by my rny surgaversary on 6/12/14.

Glad it helps. It was profound for me too because it makes those minor bounces just that a minor bounce. Plus it is easy to visualize a stop light as a cue. My scale is in my bathroom linen closet and I thought about putting a flag in there on the wall green, yellow or red as a reminder of where I am. I only weigh once a week (issues with scales) so being honest and cognizant of it is important to me.

Great! Enjoy yourself and live your life. Maintaining for a couple of weeks might give you a jump start when you start up again too. That's my hope. We've got this! Happy holidays!!
