Tools of the trade: Gadgets/Journals
iamsoworthit replied to niassy151's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I used a notebook my first month post op from my conversion from band to rny in june 2013 because I kep track of the time when I ate or drank anything. It was a good reminder and helped me develop my patterns. I have used myfitnesspal.com for over five years since being banded in 2008. I love myfitnesspal because I can follow my patterns and quite honestly I am a creature of habit so it isn't a chore. It helps me make sound decisions when I'm not sure about food too. I agree with coggin that it is probably the most powerful tool in our arsenal. Journaling any type. -
I got permission to start weights again. And here's the best part- he took me off of all my bp medication. Said he thinks I don't need it anymore because the swings between standing and sitting measures were too big. Lying down I was 92/60. Standing I was 84/55. I am so happy and hope I can stay off of them. I'm heading to the gym now . Yay!!!

Crap I just found this thread. Can we do it agan in february?? To finish this month out I will do cardio 3 times a week and do weights 2 times a week.

Dill pickles are the best!! -
I just bought 36 DD. I was 42 DD with a bra extender. Without a bra... definitely 36 extra long. Lol

I'm not sure which surgery you had but if it is rny I'd be careful with honey. Especially if you are not sure if you dump or not.

I think it is the ketones we produce. I'm a sugar free mint addict!

I have found the same thing. As long as I eat more protein to carb I'm ok. I've dumped three times. Twice were horrible and one mild. The first was from 2 ounces of watermelon. Probably guarantee you that is less than 20 grams sugar. That one was bad... then I did it again about 4 months post op on greek yogurt that has the granola you put on top but it was minor and didnt last long (I only eat low sugar greek yogurt now). Finally I dumped last time after eating a small banana. What was the common denominator all three times? Not enough protein or even no protein for several hours prior to having whatever triggered me. I keep an eye on sugar grams but really focus on protein more because for me that keeps me in check. P.s. dumping is real and not fun. I only had diarrhea once with it but the heart palpitations, clammy skin, weakness is brutal!

What ya eating tonight?
iamsoworthit replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yum!!! We go after blue crabs here in florida. Takes a lot but they are yummy. -
I'm not a sleever but a band to rny conversion but I have definitely slowed. I saw my bariatrician 2 weeks ago and he said it is normal. They tgink I only have another 20 to 25 to lose and said they would like that to be my goal for the year. I want to lose another 35 so hopefully I will sail past their goal. I am 162 and want to see 120 something on my scale. Even if it is 129. In the beginning I 8nly lost Co lbs a month so if I can squeek 4 out now, per month, that would put me in a perfect position to get 35 lbs off this year.

Oh that is great and thanks for the ideas! I see my PCP on tuesday and hope I get rw cleared for exercise. My bp has been doing a bit better the last couple of days. Typically running 92/60. I've only had some diastolic readings in the 50s twice. I still get dizzy when I stand up but hope it's starting to stabilize. I kicked up my water today so maybe that will help.

What kind of crab? -
I have been at a stall for over two weeks and need a jump start, any ideas? My diet has been clean and im logging everything. Only thing I need to improve is water and exercise. My blood pressure has tanked and is running very low so the dr advised me to take a break in the gym while we stabilized my bp. This is my first stall longer than 2 weeks.

How about some NSVs!?!?

I bought new bras from kohls tonight. I am now a 36 dd. No wonder the girls looked terrible I was still trying to wear my pre surgery bras of 42 dd. Pre surgery I had to buy an extender because I I couldnt handle going higher than that. Im hoping at the end of this journey to be a 32 d. -
Wow you are doing great and look fantastic!!! Im so happy for you.

Hw 267 Sw 220 Cw 162 I've been at a stall for two weeks. Stupid stalls. -
I have pcos too. My surgery was in june 2013 and I am starting to get normal periods for the first time. I am 42 years old so you can imagine it is new for me. My hair growth is very improved too. I wish I had dine this in my 30s because maybe I would have been able to get pregnant. Not having children is a huge source of pain for me.
-
That would be perfect. Just make sure it is moist and measure or weigh your portions.

So discouraged.

Oh I would definitely say then maybe you are being too strict. Have a few higher calorie days while still drinking your water and getting your protein in and I bet you start to lose again. Im in a stall right now too so you aren't alone. Hang in there I'm here for ya!!! -
Go for softer proteins like braised or slow cooked meat. Think moist. Fish is a great option too. I still eat fish a couole times a week because it is high protein low fat and goes down great. Chicken is still tough for me but strangely steak is ok. Albeit only 2 ounces for me at a time.
-
I wonder if you have a stricture? I am a band to bypass conversion and got stuck all the time with the band but it has happened twice since rny. Both times after eating chicken and eating too fast. If it continues I think you should get scoped.
