Why did you pick Gastric Bypass vs Gastric Sleeve?
iamsoworthit replied to Amyllf2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree! If someone would have told me a year ago I wouldnt care about sweets I would not believe them. It is freeing!! I am choosing to not tempt fate and bring them back in. Why go down that path when we know where it leads? P.s. officially closer to 100 now than 200. Yay!!! -
What kind of shakes are you using? I used Optifast preop. My trick was to shake them right before, use ice cold Water with ice and blend. I did 30 days and ir was tough. I ended up losing 9 lbs in the 30 days on 800 calories from optifast. It was hard but keep your eye on the prize.

950 mg in sodium!!! Holy shnikies! I would blow up from that due to Water retention. The p3 seems like a better choice but I try and stay away from lunchmeat because of sodium.

I just tried it today! It was pretty good. Not sweet which I liked.

What ya eating tonight?
iamsoworthit replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 ounces grilled tuna steak, arugula salad with 1/5 avocado and white balsamic vinegar. Yummo!!! -
Yep I agree! Luckily I don't have sleep apnea but my mother does. The last three years she didn't use her cpap because she lost weight and the mask didn't fit. She was compliant for years before that. She now has memory loss, her heart is in bad shape and kidneys failing. The dr believes it is getting worse all because of her not getting enough oxygen at night. It is a life saving tool. For those who need it, please find a mask that works and wear it. I am devistated that my moms lack of compliance has turned to this...

Ok I have been looking at these for a while. The bad reviews throw me off. It makes me feel better seeing real ppl use them. I may have to jump in. I've been working out 90 minutes almost every day and it is making a huge difference. My stomach skin is horrible but the rest of me starting to look pretty darn good for a woman over 40. I went to the gym this afternoon and did my full weights then came home and walked three miles on the beach. It is great living in florida this time of year. I'm pushing really hard because I am going to Italy in may and I want new ckothes and not to be the fat american.

Why would you not use a life saving device? I don't understand...

Banded for 3 years and struggling with reflux
iamsoworthit replied to CAROLYNFC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would definitely get in and get a slight unfill. I was banded in 2008 and my story was very similar to yours. The first two years were great but the last 3 were fill and unfill along with reflux and heartburn. I never had either before the band but those three years were awful. I kept telling myself it would be ok because I didn't want to have a problem ( I know it's nuts). At the end of year five in early 2013 I finally had an egd and found out I had intestinal metaplasia, a precursor for stomach cancer. I didn't have a slip, the position of the band was fine, my body just didn't like it. I was a rule follower and didn't break the band rules. It scared me big time. I ended up deciding to have the band removed and converted to rny to limit my risk with the intestinal metaplasia. I had that done in june 2013 and haven't had reflux or heartburn since. I am convinced if I would have done a complete unfill and let my body relax I may not have had that happen. I was only filled to 2.9 when I was at my worst. While the revision isn't for everyone it was my healthiest option. I wanted my band to work but we have to listen to our bodies and recurring heartburn or reflux is not healthy so be safe and get the unfill until your inflammation is down. I hope you get it straightened out and get well soon. -
Gallbladder?? It could be that. I was told greyish stools are a sign of gallbladder disease

Wow I never knew about this!!

Great post! I for one feel as good as I did when I was a teenager (im well over 40) and attribute it to no processed food, whole food, clean Protein choices and a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. I still eat fat but use olive oil almost exclusively. When I want butter I have it in small amounts. I drink 2% milk and real half and half for tea (I drink mine like the british except no sugar). I never crave sweets and haven't really tried processed crap frankenfood since surgery. Food is fuel so pick the best!!

Been Away For A While, Here's Why...
iamsoworthit replied to Dee_1111's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Pick me, sign me up and count ne in!! I love my shoulders lately and realized it is all the focus on weights. I am not to goal yet but close so seeing my body change is exciting. The gym has become my me time. I'm so proud of you Dee and you inspired me to change it up a bit too. -

Lent. What are you giving up?
iamsoworthit replied to Baconville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am Catholic too. I am giving up reality tv. I am not a huge tv person but when I do watch it is senseless garbage. I love to read so when I want to relax I'll do that instead. -
Why did you pick Gastric Bypass vs Gastric Sleeve?
iamsoworthit replied to Amyllf2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can attest to what your dr said. I was a self professed sugar addict. Even with my band, I would go to sugar for comfort. I was revised to rny last june and now never think about sweets. I have had a few things but it doesn't taste good to me anymore. Honestly I crave vegetables and fruit now. It is amazing to me because I was always the girl who looked at the dessert menu first at a restaurant. Oh and no heartburn or reflux since the revision is my added bonus. I am 117 down from my all time highest weight of 267 and life is wonderful. -
Yay!!! I may have to check them out. I was planning on buying a new one next month because I am going on a Mediterranean cruise in may. I bought a suit from landsend at the end of the season, size 14 but fear it may not work. That, my friends, is a good thing.

Been Away For A While, Here's Why...
iamsoworthit replied to Dee_1111's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Dee that is fantastic! I strengtg train 3 days a week but consider myself a cardio junkie. I love cardio but dread strength training. Lately ive been pushing my comfort zone by going to the gym, getting in between the big lunjy guys and doing my lunges, squats, burpees, arm curls, chest and back. I felt uncomfortable at first but quickly realized I am doing the same as them, albeit much lower weights. My shape has changed dramatically in just the 6 weeks.
