  1. I'm not a dr, so I'm going to struggle to explain myself, but I personally believe the sleeve causes some physiological changes beyond just restriction. For example, lots of people are much colder after the sleeve, even before they've lost weight. For me, almost immediately my palate changed and I like different flavors now. I wasn't really an emotional eater but I did like food. I still like food, and appreciate a delicious meal but it's...different. So the sleeve won't change if you're eating for emotional reasons, but you might be surprised at the chemical changes that change your approach to food. Hope that kinda made sense...

    Cosmetic Surgery afterwards?

Have heard good things about Dr Aragon, but haven't done anything yet.

Best Gastric Sleeve Doctors in Mexico

Dr illan is professional and knowledgable. He and his patient coordinator Omar are really quick about getting back to you with any post-op questions. He's a respected trauma surgeon, so I can't really picture him deliberately messing up a surgery like the doctor in Susan's post. I guess time will tell, but i am happy so far.
  4. I want a full tummy tuck. I'm assuming with muscle repair because I've had two kids. Leaving boobs alone for now. What did you pay for tt anyone?

    Reforming The Fat Girl

I started a new job after my sleeve. Also cut my hair and started going by my nickname at work. I just wanted to feel like a fresh start. It's been nice.

    Its all about staying positive

My second month was faster loss than my first. Just think how cute you'll look in skirts and tights and tall boots this fall.

An Alien Has Taken Over My Reflection

Folly, I totally feel ya. I somehow feel like having a sleeve is my fulltime job. Not because it's difficult, just because it's always on my mind. Sometimes it makes me feel a little adrift.

    choosing a dr

I chose dr Illan in Tijuana because he had done so very many sleeves. I didn't want a counselor or nutritionist really, but I did love that he had a Facebook group of real patients I could talk to. Choose a dr with good reviews, and one who has done many procedures. I think there are lots of good choices.

    Back to work-Nosey co-workers

I haven't told anyone, but it kind of makes me surprised how UN-nosy coworkers have been. I have literally not had a single person at work notice or say a word. I guess it's good to be inconspicuous but still...

    Post-Op Goals & sucesses

I want to see Paris. I want to wear tall boots in winter and shorts in summer. I want to stop avoiding having my picture taken with my beautiful children because I feel too fat.

    Looking For A Surgeon

I have nothing but good things to say about my surgeon, dr illan. His company is called BajaBariatrics.com and I recommend it. He is a trauma surgeon in addition to numerous sleeves. Very personable. His coordinator Omar is amazing and helps you through all the details. Cost varies on BMI, and he works from florence hospital in Tijuana.

    Hardest thing for you?

When my mouth is just starting to really enjoy a flavor--then HOLD UP, tummy is full. Someone above mentioned they couldn't lose weight on 1200 calories before sleeve. I was the same way and I could tell one dr I had was very skeptical and probably thought I was sneaking midnight burritos or something. I do not lose weight if I eat more than about 800 calories, which is pretty easy with the sleeve but was so hard before. No one is ever willing to believe this--the simple fact that it is definitely possible to become overweight even if you're not a "big eater". Whew, rant over.
  13. I have no advice but I have the same goal of 125. We can do it!
  14. No one ever really notices. In some ways it's a relief but in other ways I guess it would be nice to have someone think "wow"

Pannus is not the same thing as Panniculus

Pannus Panniculus sounds like a Harry Potter spell---maybe the spell to make fat vanish.

    I had my Tummy Tuck!

Th minute I hit 125 BAM--tummy tuck for me!
  17. I basically try to follow my diet instructions but I'm less perfect with it now than I was the first 8 weeks. Everyone's got their own style. Sweets make sick, so it's not to hard to avoid them. I am a lot better at being disciplined now with food. Partly due to reduced hunger and partly because I actually see results now. I think the sleeve has changes beyond restriction and ghrelin that they'll discover someday...

    Mood issues post weight loss

The best advice I got about sad spells was just to lie down and let yourself feel it without distraction, and then you'd get bored in a few minutes and want to move on. It works a lot of times. I'm not a vet, but I joke about how I will feel a bit adrift at goal weight--it's like dieting was my life's work, and what will I do once it's been accomplished? (I'm sure I'll figure it out, lol, it's just weird to think that such a big, consuming thing will be checked off my list!)

What is it like when you wake up from surgery?

Pressure and pain in your shoulders. Groggy and nauseated.

    pms carb load

My sleeve capacity increases and my hunger goes up like clockwork the day before TOM. And every time I think, "oh no, am I losing restriction?" Then the next day it's like, oh yeah, stupid TOM...and it's all back to ok.

When do you know that youre full?

I feel a mild sense of tightness in my chest that means I'm full. 4 months post-op. I find it easiest to measure like 1/3 cup out and eat that.

Things I want for my life

Haha...I read this post title as "Thighs that I want" and thought yes, I do want skinny thighs in my life.

    Hurting right now.

I am feeling so sad right now, and I know I should let it go but it's hard. I've lost almost 40 lb, and my husband has been nothing but supportive. He's been traveling a lot the past four months so he actually hasn't seen the changes a lot. Well today I came out of the closet with just my jeans and bra because I needed a shirt from the dryer. I caught him staring at my stomach with like confusion and disgust and he asked, "So, is that just...skin on your stomach...or what is making it all...wrinkled...will that go away?" Then he kind of caught himself and said, "wow you are losing weight, you must feel good," in that kind of fake good cheer way. I know he didn't mean to make me feel bad. We are close and he never made me feel bad about the pregnancy weight. It's just so unfair--we both gained weight with two hard babies and two management careers, but I am the only one left with a ruined, gross body. My scars are horrible, my hair is falling out, I have ugly stretch marks and wrinkly belly button from the babies. In some ways, I looked better fatter. I weigh 149 right now, and my goal is 125. I will need a tummy tuck and boob lift, but I am scared of more pain and more big ugly scars. I know this was for health and not just appearance, but I just feel hideous right now.
