I'm back. Ready to restart
rosettag replied to Cindi2014's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'd li ke to start with you and share the path to the new goal . My experience is similar to yours and I need friends who can understand without judging -
I've been banded since May 10th 2011. I was 59 and, despiite my weight (125kg), quite healthy. My life was on the whole good : a hushand, a son,a job,, a house. But I reali ed that, besides being dissatisfied with my physical appearance, I didn't want to live and die fat. So I made my decision , which was not easy because my husband (who is a doctor in medicine) was contrary and sure I would either fail or spoil my health..or both . He was sure that no surgery was required. Only good will. My band is nos my best friend, a bit noughty and overpowering, but caring and faithful

I've decided to get back on track too . I started yesterday. It was Monday ( (the best day to begin something new) and the Christmas holidays are over at last! Here in Italy they're too long and too full of food. I was banded on May 10th 2011. Over the first year I lost 55 kilos, but from then onwards I started to slowly gain back weight. ..20 kilos. You will succeed. So will I

What can I take for cough' cold, congestion?
rosettag replied to revisedtosleeve's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nebuliser? It might help you, without having anything to drink. -
I was so uneasy whenever I got on a plane .and I was always afraid I might need another piece of belt..the one you need when you cannot fasten your belt. Now I fasten it and thank my band
-
That is exactly what happens to me.I' ve been banded for 3 years and a half. I lost 50 kilos the first 10 months after surgery. My surgeon filled my band with 1.5 cc during surgery and that was enough for me. A year later, when I had already lost 50 kg, he added another 1.5 cc. He says that our stomach gets slimmer too, and the bend gets loose just like a belt around our waist. I haven' t needed more fills. If my mind lets my band work, I don' t need further restriction. If I wanted to eat the "wrong foods" , I think that the tightest of the bands could not prevent me from doing it

I've read your post as if it were the first chapter of a novel The novel of your life, many more chapters to write. I wish you luck, happiness, recovery -
I think you are the only person who will wish me a happy mothers' s day. I have a 37-year-old son, but I am sure he will forget it So THANKS!!!!!

Three years ago this time I was in the operating room and my friendship with Leonida, my band, was starting. During the first year I lost 52 kilos, which is something between 100 and 110 lbs, if I am not wrong.. During the second year I started losing part of my strong motivation and,by the end of the second year and the beginning of the third, I had gained back 10 kilos. Bariatric Pal is helping me come back on track, your approach to weight loss connected to wls is a bit different and many of the suggestions I have read here are becoming part of my life and behaviour. Thanks to all of you!!!

Nothing terrible has happened. It is only a white lie.You were / are not ready to tell him. You are not hiding a husband waiting at home with four children! The ring around your stomach does not make you and your relatioship different.. Or, if it does, it can only make it better. Be serene and enjoy the second gift life is giving you. (I mean, your band and your sweetie). Best of luck!!!!

One more month and i have to loose weight
rosettag replied to planningband07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately you will..But you won' t want, most of the times, at least. Our rebellious mind is our enemy, but the band is a friend ready to help. I don't mean I no longer crave for "forbidden" foods, but much less than before. Maybe because you are easily satiated, but it is easier. That is my personal experience. Best luck!!! -
You are not alone!!! You can get support from the wonderful people you meet here! I was banded on May 10th 2011, my band is not too tight ( 3 cc)because I have realized that if the "right " food doesn't go down, I turn to the "wrong" one! Cakes and chocolate are not stopped by my band. I am easily satiated with small amounts of food..the fight is not against my stomach, but my mind Best luck!

You have lost an amzing amount of weight in a short time. Cograts!!!!!

I think you shouldn't exercise when you haven't eaten for hours. Our muscles need fuel, which is mainly given by carbs. A small quantity of them might help you avoid low blood sugar symptoms. Best luck!

Secretband!!!!I was thinking of you some days ago and I wondered if you were well..I'm so happy for you and the good news in your life. Being sincere with our partners is not always necessary or advisable. You know, men come from Mars, women from Venus. There are things that belong to ourselves and ourselves only.. I wish you the best luck!!

what is the real reason I became obese?
rosettag replied to leeann71's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The first time I put on more than 100 lbs I was 30 years old. I didn't get on well with my husband, but I did not have the courage to divorce him.It was more than 30 years ago and here in Italy living as a divorced woman was not so easy. Then I plucked courage and divorced and lost the 100 lbs I had put on. The second time I became an obese was about 15 years ago. I had just met the man who would become my second husband.I was not love, but he was (and is) an honest and reliable person. The man I needed (???) because I wanted a quiet and serene life. The problem was that the man I had been passionately in love (love and passion that were reciprocated) kept trying to have me back.He was an unreliable lier,..passion is not enough to make a sound relationship work..And I did not want to cheat on my new partner because he was faithful and honest . I found the solution to the problem.I put on a lot of weight.I wouldn't have dared to meet him ..I was ashamed of my physical appearance.. He's dead now. I had my lap band surgery 3 years ago and I have no reason why I should become an obese again -
Thanks for what you have written. I needed someone to remind me of what I am and shoul do!

Cheryl is right , as usual :-) It is true that other kinds of surgery make you lose more weight in a shorter time, but do you think it is a chance that surgeons are starting to put a band over sleeves and bypasses? Best luck to your new journey

Starting to hate weekends
rosettag replied to SlowJourney's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've read a lot of good advice here The weekend is hard.. full of temptations and temptations.. I try to think that I can't throw away all the efforts of te week. Sometimes I stop to think about what is better Sometimes I stop thinking because cravings are stronger than me. -
You say that your band has forced you to lessen the quantity of food .That is its task. Your band hasn't failed If you suffer from hypotyroidism, aren't you likely not to lose weight because of this issue ? It is under control, but maybe it is not enough. I hope you can make friends with your band again I wish you the best luck

Just decided to have bariatric lap band surgery
rosettag replied to Sandra Lail's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Sandra, you say that you don't eat too much, but you don't lose weight. The band helps people who are used to eating huge amounts of food, but if you have metabolic problems, how can a band change the situation? Here in Italy surgeons suggest other kinds of surgery (bypass) to people who can't lose weight because of their metabolism. Hugs!! -
Just made the decision
rosettag replied to Carol Annie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on your choice! I had surgery when I was 59, three years ago. One of the best decisions I' ve ever made. -
How do you stop the "brain" hunger
rosettag replied to aubtracken's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the solution As one of you has written, head hunger is often a consequence of passive behaviour. I'm more likely to be head hungry when I'm lying on the sofa . -
Did you name your band? :D
rosettag replied to BandedBrunette481's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My band' s name is Leonida. Here in Italy we study Ancient Greek history at school. Leonida was the king of Sparta, a small, but brave town which was being attacked by the huge Persian army. He faced this enormous army in a narrow place among the mountains and ( just because the place was narrow and he was a great warrior) succeeded in stopping the enemy and giving his town the time to organize their defence. So, my Leonida's task is facing and stopping the huge amount of food I used to stuff into my stomach.
