Hello, I didn't have any trouble with the band. I had also my gallbladder removed because there was a big stone in it. When I woke up from the anesthesia I felt a slight pain in my belly, which went away afer an hour. From that moment on, I have never had problems at all and no pain, no hearhburn, no reflux. The incisions didn't hurt or burn, but I felt as if I had been exercising for hours after a long period of inactivity. My muscles (those of my belly) ached when I had to get up or sit up and lie down. I don't know if I am in the "green zone".sometimes I think I am, other times I am a bit doubtful about that. I 'm satisfied with my weight loss, I'm no longer obese, but only in the medium range of overweight. I 'll be 62 next March 2nd and I think it wise to accept my current weight. That doesn't mean I ' ve given up achieving normal range. These days I've gone on a low-carb, low fat, high protein diet. I' not in hurry..one day at a time.We are powerless over past and future. But TODAY we can do as much as we can to get where we want. Best luck to you!!!

Hi Aasma, I'm Italian and live in Milan. This forum is great and supportive. It was lucky of me to have found it! I was banded 2 years and 8 months ago. I lost 50/52 kg the first year, but gained 4/5 the second year, but I think only few people can maintain their lowest weight. I 've been the same weight for nearly a year now. When I was banded I was 59 years old and, as you write, il was my last chance. That's why I was absolutely determined to make my band work.

Grocery Shopping Carts and Being Nosey
rosettag replied to 2muchfun's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Last week I was at the supermarket at the wrong time ( before dinner) and I was obviously hungry. I had put some biscuists and two bars of chocolate into my shopping cart. Then I noticed an obese woman who was putting the same things into hers..I felt uneasy and the days when I weighed 120 kilos came painfully to my mind. Thanks to that unknown woman I decided it wasn't the case and put biscuits and chocholate back onto their shelf. Sometimes looking at other people's carts is helpful.. -
Signs that you're full. How does your body tell you it's enough?
rosettag replied to desertpixie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It isn't easy to decide when I've eaten enough because my stomach and my brain sometimes send me different messages. The forner says: "I don't need more food", while the latter says "More! More!" I've been banded for 2 years and 8 months, but I still find it difficult to know when I shoul stop eating. Nevertheless I've lost 50 kilos.. -
When I was fat I didn't like myself. I knew I had a lot of good qualities, but, if I had been a man, I wouldn't have been sexually attracted to a woman like me. Love and sex don't always go together. It is nobody's fault.Just something that happens. I'm glad you've started talking with your husband about the recent changes. You might come to understand each other's reasons. Congrats on your weight loss!

Hi Joanne, I keep repeating that my band is my best friend, Cybil is your friend , a long-standing friendship.Sometimes friends go away for some reason, but they come back, and when we meet again , it is as though time has not passed and we can start again. You (I mean , you and Cybil) will make decisions about what and how to do. Hugs !!!

New to forum, advice please!
rosettag replied to SecretBander's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 61-year-old , but I still remember what my father used to say to me "One person must always know the truth about what you do and where you are".It was about 50 years ago. He was very strict..and knew I sometimes told him lies.. Tell one person, it is safer and I think you'll be more serene. I made the same decision when I was banded.I told my husband and my son only. -
I've made the same decision as yours.I'll try to go on a sort of pre-op diet for...I don't know how long. I think it won't last longer than a week because I' afraid it would be unhealthy . One day at a time. So,I'll try only for today. Tomorrow? I know I'm powerless over the future. And tomorrow is the future.

Starting over after loss of Son
rosettag replied to StarsZie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I' m writing with my eyes full of tears. I cannot even imagine what you have experienced, because the suffering of the loss of a son is something unbearable . You are so brave..you are going to take your life back into your hands. You can start with any method you like anf feel is good for you. I think Bandista is right "Western medicine is all about drugs and surgery" But our soul ( or heart) need more and different solutions. You are brave, too brave. That must cost and have cost you a lot . I would hug you if we didn't live so far. I'm Italian and live in Northern Italy. -
Going on 9 years, Lap band still keeping my weight down (Pic)
rosettag replied to NaNa's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks!!! You look great and, above all,I appreciate the serenity and balance you've achieved. I've been banded for 2 years and 8 months and I'm convinced that my band is my best friend. And I'm so pleased with and encouraged by your long-standing friendship with your band -
I was banded on Tuesday and left the hospital on Sunday. They gave me painkillers and I didn't have any pain. The only problem was getting up or out of bed decause the incisions ached. I had also my gallbladder taken away during the same operation. No pain, but the incisions on both sides of belly prevented me from moving freely. I hope you are better now. Time is the best doctor and medicine

How much up? How much down? I've got friends who have never had weight problems, but have ups and downs, 4 or 5 kilos..They often put on weight in winter, when the cold weather induces to eat more ( and clothes help conceal the overweight), but in spring go on a diet and lose what they have gained. My problem, since I'm a compulsive overeater, is that I find it awfully difficult to get back to the right path. It was much harder when I didn't have my band. Forgive my mistakes, please, I 'm Italian

A friend of mine had a second band placed after the first had slipped. The second band is a great success, since she has lost all the weight she had gained back ( about 100lbs, 52 kilos) during the two years without a band.

Fell Off the Wagon...How do I get re-started?
rosettag replied to Kathy =^..^='s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded on May 10th 2013. From the day of the operatin till Christmas I followed a very strict food plan ( no carbs, proteins , also vegetal ones, a lot of salads, two spoonfuls of olive oil a day, skim milk or yogurt. I lost 100lbs. At Christmas I tasted sweets and other dishes which belong to our tradition (I' m Italian).. and from that day on, it was all more difficult. l can understand what you feel, but I think we can always decide to resume our journey to helth and target weight. Why don' t you join Overeaters Anonymous? They are very helpful. The advice I read here are wise, but it is better for us not to travel alone. When I go to OA meetings , I feel stronger because they support me. Love!!!! -

So many snags in the road
rosettag replied to chloesmom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Maybe you have lost weight because of your health problems, but now you are recovering. A lot of people lose weight when they are ill, but gain it back when they recover. I think your band will help you avoid it. You can resume your journey to health and target weight. You are not alone, you have a friend, your band, to help you. -
You have a new friend now, your band. You'll recover soon and enjoy it ( or him? Her?) I'm Italian and make a lot of mistakes..

My surgeon suggested I shouldn't drink alcohol because it both gives empty calories and might cause gastric reflux. I've been banded for two years and a half and I avoid drinking alcohol. They told me I mustn't drink at all during my meals , so I've given up drinking wine.
-
Best of luck with your surgery! What did I do before band? I took part in a three-week programm of rehabilitation from compulsve eating, tried to choose healthy food, started chewing longer and avoided drinking during meals. I lost 20 lbs in a month and a half. I know that a lot of people often eat as much as they can before surgery, but I knew that I had to get used to eating less and better before surgery, because I wouldn't be able to cope with a sudden and forced change in my eating habits. I also started having a one-hour walk every day. Here in Italy surgeons don't ask to follow any sort of pre-op diet, but my surgeon said that weight loss would made both surgery and recovery easier

Goal Met: No Longer Obese
rosettag replied to PrettyThick1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations!!! And you have been banded for six months only -
I've just joined this forum. I'm Italian, 61 years old. I've been banded since may 10th 2011. I've lost 50 kg (about 100 lbs) . I've gained 5 kg back, but I think it is something that happens to most people. My band is my best friend. When I had my lap band surgery I knew it was the last chance life was giving me e that, if I failed, I would live (and die) as an obese. This is the reason why I'm determined to make my band work. Here in Italy, when there are no more chances left, we say "it's my last shore". I hope you can help me not to give up..

Saturated and trans fats? I think you know how dangerous they are.Sure, you won't eat huge amounts , but I've decided to ban unhealthy food from my diet
