Gratz on surviving the Holiday. -
Maybe try following the rules rather than just doing what you want? You did this to yourself. All I can do is nod my head and agree this was a stupid move (like Forrest Gump - stupid is as stupid does). Sit on your duff and rest! You need to allow your body to heal. I at the moment would love to do more and run around the town....I feel good. My body needs more time to heal. If you want smooth sailing follow the rules. If you want complication keep on doing your program instead of your Doctors. just don't blame the Doctors or the surgery/diet for your choices.

Can't "eat" enough

Maybe try unjury chicken soup protein powder. Or, go to Panera Bread and buy soup - broth only - this would avoid the sweet problem. -
Can't "eat" enough
bearman99 replied to sandisleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am day 3 post op and have no problems getting liquids in. I have some kind of bottle in my hand 100% of the time. I sip about every minute. Gatorade G2 is my friend. Yesterday had 76oz liquid Today have had 46oz from 5am to 9:00am. Terrible Protein though. I will be adding a couple of small bottles of the isopure for 30g protein in a day. Considering for the first week my Dr & NUT just wanted focus on liquids I am in good shape. Are you on a PPI? This seems to help keep things calm enough to be sipping all the time without getting nauseous. -
Im a cheater...am i screwed?
bearman99 replied to jewintheridge's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
To your answer your direct question....yes. But it has nothing to do with getting the surgery or not. No matter how much this community consoles you, YOU are responsible. If you want to succeed follow the rules. If you want to subject yourself to doubts and have a higher probability of failing.....don't follow the rules. Either way, make your choice, live with it, own your results. -
This will be my last topic started in pre-op. Couldn't sleep once I got up at 3:30am. Have to check in by 6:30, surgery time set for 9:30. I look forward to being on the forum on the other side with 85% less stomach. Here we go!

Surgery in 5 hours - YAY!
bearman99 replied to bearman99's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wooot! Catheter is out. It still hurts to pee. On the roxicet. Great stuff. Have had 40oz water so far today and 2T Jello, 2T broth.........such culinary treats! Estimated departure time is 11am tomorrow. Walking helped tremendously with gas pain. Clocked 2 miles so far today. I hope this keeps improving and doesn't take a turn for the painful. -

Fantastic. How does the diet go? How about exercise? Any rules of the road you have learned or would share with those getting surgery this month? (like me)

An atheist's pov vs a christain point of view
bearman99 replied to gamergirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Most atheists are actually agnostic as are most Christians when you dig deeper by chatting about their beliefs. When you hear "god is so powerful no one can know".....<bam> bring out the agnostic label. I used to be atheist, meditated (fairly intensely) for a decade and am now more an agnostic. Buddhism/non-duality here. -

I would have to say I do not subscribe to either of those statements. One of the few lines I loved and often repeat is... The more things you own the more you are owned by them. I have found this to be true. but, I do like my comfy bed and my comfy LayZBoy both of which cost some good money. For those things that money can buy how would you get along without it? I am self-pay on this gastric Sleeve....hmm, my point is more money can buy a better chance at good health. Hmm, I think I just talked myself into things being ok. The non-dualist in me says there really is No-Thing and we cannot die since we were never born.....but, probably too esoteric for a forum like this. -
Why did u choose sleeve not the band ?
bearman99 replied to Suko75's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Everything Macman said AND 85% tummy is removed. Less hunger possibly due to hormone production changing. Much less complication rate apparently than RNY. Complication and weight regain for lap-band was surprisingly high. -
I'm self pay and researching costs of sleeve in the U.S
bearman99 replied to leslie1958's topic in Insurance & Financing
$18,750 Neenah, WI Midwest Bariatrics Prior to my wife putting her foot down that I had to do it locally I had selected Dr. Ariel Ortiz at OCC or Dr. Alberto Aceves in Mexicali. Both were excellent in track records. So I was forced to spend about $13-14K extra.....MEH -
So on my 5'9" frame the Dr. Office used that funky scale/body fat measuring device where you stand on it and it tells you lean body mass versus fat content. I was a bit surprised as was the nurse I have a lean body mass of 222lbs. Granted I powerlifted for years but that was 25 years ago. How accurate are these devices? This means at a 220 goal ending weight, which was recommended by the Dr., I will have a BMI of 32.5. How much LBM can I expect to lose on this sleeve journey? Do I want to lose LBM? All my experience and research says no, but, well I am in doubt now. Holy heavyweight Batman!

Not sure if i made the best decision
bearman99 replied to jayakay425's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Look forward, not back. Looking back with regret does nothing useful. You cannot get your stomach back. This too shall pass. Almost all feel (per the forum members posts) much better in a month. You will too. The first week apparently can really suck. You can get through this. -

Starving on this 2 week liquid
bearman99 replied to catobird1225's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you scrunch up the wallpaper and place it in a blender this might be a mushie or a puree and then you'd have the Fiber too. Yes, it can suck. I feel that way too. Surgery Dec 24 - on liquids now. -

Just to stick with the forum.... god is overrated. I liked Battlestar Galactica it had them saying gods dammit on network tv....I enjoyed that! Laura-Ven Flying Spaghetti Monster anyone? http://www.venganza.org/2009/08/fsm-prayer/ Now go away before I taunt you another time you silly English kniiiigggit! -

Well, I feel pretty embarassed and stupid right now. Might have to reconsider the whole deal. Sorry if I offended anyone. Pretty sure it was meant with humor. At least that was my interpretation. -

Oh man, I so agree. My wife comes from a family of Baptists. Father was a Baptist preacher. Why fear death if you are saved and living a "righteous" life? I have shared my thoughts to this effect AND I WAS THE ONE THEY LOOOKED AT ME LIKE I WAS MISGUIDED" HA! Then again I am the infidel of the family and from the North so her TN family just hates on the damn yankee..... :-)
