What month are we talking about going? Has it been decided?
-
It means "know what I mean" Hi everyone. So I went to lunch with a friend today and I took 3 bites and got stuck. I can usually unstick myself but today was bad. I asked for some pineapple juice. I drank two small sips and ended up running to the bathroom. It came up not down. Is that what it was supposed to do? JoJo- I tried the pinapple juice as well. I had the same experience. It came up very quickly. I was violently ill from it. It did work though. I'm glad you asked this question because I was wondering the same thing when it happened to me.

I got a fill a week ago yesterday 1.4 CC's on 4 CC band. I nursed it all week and finally gave up. I went in for a partial unfill today. The Dr removed .4 I have 1CC left. I hope I can lose some weight now. I wasn't even able to drink my protein drink. I didn't gain or lose all week. I was always sceptical about the notion that you need to eat to lose weight, but now I know from experience, it's true. Suzzzie- I hope you are able to keep every drop of your fill.

I don't regret it. I am one of the not-so-lucky ones. I have alot of PBing and slimming; but the better I understand the band the fewer problems I have the more I like it. I would do it again tomorrow. Good luck!

The Gold Coast is on the other side of the strip and is very reasonable in price. The rooms have recently been renovated and are very clean. The hotel has a bowling alley, bingo hall and they still have $5.00 tables. They also have a shuttle to the Flamingo, which is on the strip. I believe April is prime season in Vegas, so we are going to pay premium rates anywhere we stay.

I know they tell you not to weigh everyday, but I can't stand it.I weigh every morning when I get up. I believe this helps me understand how my body reacts to foods that I ate the day before.

Dawn, I have only been banded since 6-4-07 and I have not been able to handle a fill either. Can you tell me what type of complications you experienced that prevented you from gettting fills? Did it cause a full feeling in your throat?

You must have gone to TJ? what city do you live in. who banded you?

Count me in. I go to Vegas 4 times a year on average. For all you gamblers, the gambling really sucks early week. If you play for fun (pennies, nickels) it doesn't really matter. If you play tables or higher end slots, your odds are better on the weekend. I am in regardless.

I am scheduled for another attempt at a fill on Sept.7th. I am really nervous because of all the problems I had last time. Is it normal to have a hard time swallowing (feels like your being choked and burns) when you get a fill? I was Okay at first, but by the next morning, I felt terrible. Please help me understand what is normal so that I don't over-react and have it removed again.

Well said Kat. I agree. This is not a race but a marathon. None of us gained our weight in 1 year and we are not "required" to lose it in a year. I would rather lose it slowly and eat balanced meals. I had poor eating habits, not an overeater. It is important for me to learn to eat healthier not necessarily to starve. My weight is coming off slowly, but I fell healthy and am making much better choices.

Alexandra- I have seen your postings on different threads. I always wonder how you are doing since your rebanding? I know you were supposed to have it about a week ago. I hope all went well and you are feeling better.

mjsafari- I agree with you about the problems your husband has been having. I too had a severe case of acid reflux before surgery. I have been on Nexium for about 2 years. I had major problems right after surgery. My Dr had me stop taking my Nexium. Like your husband I would PB if I ate anything heavier than soup (including eggs), I hadn't even had a fill yet. My GP put me back on the Nexium (3 weeks ago) and I am finally feeling better and ready to go for my first fill since my unfill. I am only PBing if I forget to chew well. My fill is scheduled for 9-7. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can take about 1CC.

I have the same problem. I notice that if I eat something fast even if it is small in size and/or portion and then try to eat a meal within 2 hrs, I experience fist bite syndrome. I also have no fill. I have had all of it removed. I believe that my esophogus was inflammed from the surgery and took longer than usual to heal. I am also unable to eat scrambled eggs. My Dr. told me that it's common. There are a lot of people that can't eat them.

Still having restriction after fill removal
beardpa replied to higgij's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Janet, I am sorry to hear about the problems you have been having. at the same time, I am relieved to see someone experiencing the same problems as I have. I was banded on 6-4-07 and have had problems with PBing since I went on soft foods (nothing major but experienced it a couple times before fill). My problems increased in early July after my first fill. I have a 4cc band that Dr filled 1.7 cc's. I couldn't swallow barium. He removed approx. .5 cc's and I still had pain in my throat when I swallowed the barium. He removed another .2cc's. I went home. the next day, I woke up and had a hard time swallowing Water. I was really swollen. The following day I went back and he removed another.6 cc's. I currently do not have any fill and I continue to feel restriction and have to be very careful to avoid PBing. The restriction appears to be confined to my esopagus, not my stomach. I am hungry most of the time. I am still able to eat, I just have to take it very slow. -
have you had a fill yet?

That's wonderful! I wish you all the best. I guess I'm just unlucky to live in an area that they can't offer it. you bet the 7500. was worth it. I was banded on 6-4-07 and have lost 31 Lbs. I went for my first fill 1.6 cc's but had to have all of it removed. I have a severe problem with PBing. I started back on liquids only today in order to heal my esophagas. Hopefully I will get another fill by the end of the month. Even with the problems I have had, I don't regret the surgery at all. I have 44 Lbs to go.

I don't want to discourage you but I think you should be prepared. I too am a Kaiser member. I received a referral from my practitioner to go to the weight loss center around the corner from my home. The referral was for Lapband. When I got to the orientation, they informed about 50 of us that Kaiser was not performing this surgery at this time, they were only performing bypass. They do not have a surgeon to perform Lapband at this time. I was 75 Lbs overweight and they require that you be over 100 Lbs for bypass. I live in Riverside,CA. I decided to go to Tijuana,MX for my surgery. My surgeon was Dr Kuri and I paid 7,500. I hope that they have more resouces in Northern CA than they do here and that you can have your surgery. Good luck!

I live in Riverside, CA but I drive to T.J to see my Dr. (free fills for life) you only have to pay 95.00 to the hospital for the floroscopy.
