This is a little off topic but bears mentioning. The unjury "Protein'd" cheese Sauce Mix is to die for! I was eating it right out of the bag by the spoonful! When that wonderful day comes when you have solids again, you can put some cheese sauce on your veggies, etc. It's a great way to get in some extra Protein.

Starting Pre Opt Diet
Noor1969 replied to Lenac0001's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on Day #8 of my preop diet and the first three days were really hard. If you keep up with your Protein the hunger should go away. If the hunger is still really out of control, maybe you could ask your surgeon if you could have an extra Protein shake or veggies. also I found that drinking lots of broth and calorie free beverages helped as well. You can do this! -
It looks like my surgery date will have to be pushed back too. It was supposed to be on the 22nd and the insurance authorization still hasn't come through yet, so I may have to change the date. If it works out that way I am going to take the time to stay on my preop liquid diet and try to lose as much weight as possible.

6 weeks out - Crunchy foods?
Noor1969 replied to Mommysonadiet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love kale chips! In my grocery store you can find them in the produce aisle. They come in different flavors but I like the parmesan ones the best. There are a ton of kale chip recipes on line if you want to make them yourself. -
1 week away from surgery, thoughts on pre-op diet
Noor1969 replied to soflatechie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, do I feel silly. I started the preop diet one week ago and I was convinced that it was going to be the worst thing I will ever have to go through in my life. Now it's one week later and I barely feel hungry. The first three days were hard with detox headaches and head hunger but they went away. I'm feeling kinda disappointed as I've only lost 5 pounds. I don't know if that's good or whether I should have lost more by now. I am actually consuming less than what my surgeon is allowing me to eat. I'm just not hungry! I'm due to be sleeved this week and like you I just want the experience to be over with. But at least I'm not worried about the preop stuff anymore! -
I'm in the dog house and cant find my way out.
Noor1969 replied to nancy264's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Last year I lost 60 pounds. I have gained nearly all of it back and have gained 10 pounds in the last month. I'm disgusted with myself too. I hear how frustrated you are with yourself. Whatever it takes, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start over. Every time I have seen my surgeon my weight has gone up. I'm not proud of myself, but all I can say is "tomorrow will be better" and try again. You can too. I've been on my preop diet for a week now and have been so hungry at times that I've wanted to climb the walls. But I'm trying to remember how much I want this surgery and how badly I want to be healthy. You just have to want this no matter what. I know how hard it is but you can do it. You're not alone. -
I have purchased some Unflavored unjury and haven't tried it yet. But I'm a HUGE fan of the chicken soup (I'm drinking a lot of it b/c I'm on my preop diet) and the Protein cheese sauce mix is to die for! I'm definitely ordering more of both!

Watched 'Forks over Knives' and 'Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead' this weekend. Feeling confused this morning!
Noor1969 replied to sleevethefatbehind's topic in Food and Nutrition
From what I understand about Forks Over Knives, they espouse a really strict vegan lifestyle. So of course they're going to see casein as harmful. Not to disrespect anyone who's vegan, but there's just no way I can eat like that. My surgeon and NUT have no issue with animal products at all and I certainly don't think they will harm me if eaten in moderation. Then you have the Paleo, Atkins, etc. folks who think low-carb is the only way to go. While I lean more towards eating that way, I believe that "everything in strict moderation" works best for me. I don't think that one way of eating can work for everybody. Just my two cents, for what it's worth. -
Vitamins and protein :(
Noor1969 replied to donaboss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling so well. I'm getting sleeved later this month and have also invested in a lot of Protein products as well as liquid Vitamins. If they don't agree with me I'm going to scream. I know that you've spent a ton of money already, but you might want to think about getting some unflavored Protein powder. You can mix it in your hot Cereal, puddings, mashed potatoes, etc. I have the unjury brand and Syntrax makes a good brand as well. I hope you feel better soon. -
Worried and scared, feeling alone
Noor1969 replied to yasmineSF's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
PLEASE don't feel ashamed. I spent most of last year on the HCG diet (spending a ton of $ to see a famous diet doctor) and have gained back almost all of the 60 pounds I lost. I have also gained over 10 pounds from the time I first saw my surgeon in November to Dec. 23rd which was when I last saw her. So the pounds have been piling on. I've been struggling with the shame issues pretty badly as well and I want you to know that you're not alone. I know what it's like to feel ashamed and embarrassed. If you have to have the DS eventually, so be it. What matters the most is your health. There are many people who have had both surgeries and have had outstanding results, so please don't beat yourself up because you might be doing this too. It's entirely possible to lose 200+ pounds with the sleeve surgery. I agree with the above poster to keep an eye out for butterthebean. He posts often and always has inspiration and valuable feedback to share. Please keep us posted. We care. -
Congratulations! I lost my dad when I was 6 years old. Among other health issues, he was morbidly obese. So I feel your pain. I know that your dad must be so proud of you right now. I hope mine will be as well when I get sleeved later this month. Stay strong and keep up your faith in God. 2014 is going to be your year!

Over 300 pounds, when did you notice a difference?

Wow, you have really accomplished so much. Give yourself a lot of credit! -
OH BOY can I relate to what you're going through right now. I am on day 5 of my preop diet. I'm not going to lie to you, the first 4 days were hell. I felt totally wiped out and had some detox headaches that were brutal. Then all of a sudden, last night, I got a good night's sleep and woke up feeling pretty good. Now I'm not even hungry at all. I'm allowed 5 shakes a day, but all I seem to want are 3 or 4 with some green veggies on the side. Try to hang tough, it does get better. I was so freaked out about starting the diet and like I said it was tough at first, but you will get through it. If your surgeon allows it, have an extra Protein shake or some green veggies to help fill you up. I'm still dealing with some annoying head hunger so I've been drinking its of decaf tea and Crystal Light. Fluids are your friend!

Post Op-ers You're killing me!
Noor1969 replied to KeeWee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG RJ, you look like an entirely different person!!! I will be getting sleeved soon and I'm inspired to hear that you have no regrets despite your many complications and time in the hospital. I salute you! All of you look AMAZING!!! -
Exactly what I am trying to do! Convince myself that I am worrying for no reason! I am sure we are and it's going to be no big deal!! When is your surgery? I'm hoping to have surgery on Jan. 22nd. I haven't gotten insurance authorization yet so things are coming down to the wire. We are going to be just fine, I'm sure of it!!!

Pray good prayers for me.....PLEASE
Noor1969 replied to LivingForGod's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What God has planned for you, no man can stop. I've been worried that my insurance authorization won't get approved and I keep reminding myself that if God has ordained for me to have this surgery, it will happen no matter what. You are in my prayers for a speedy recovery! -
I'm another one who's going to be sent home with a drain and I too am nervous. From what I've heard from the people who've had one, it may feel "weird" coming out but it's not supposed to hurt. My surgeon also told me the same thing. Naturally, being the worrywart I am, I'm going to worry about it hurting anyway, and then eventually my surgeon will take it out and I'll see I had nothing to worry about.

Questioning myself....HELP
Noor1969 replied to morgan53's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm ending my 4th day on pre op. Today was especially rough. I had such a bad detox headache last night that I had to get up in the middle of the night and eat a Greek yogurt. That's not allowed on this diet but I figured what the hell, it's only 8 grams of carbs. Thankfully the headache went away. I haven't been hungry, but I do feel irritable and kinda lightheaded. I have also cheated a couple of times with a cup of tea, which is also not allowed on the diet. So I'm not been 100% compliant, I've been about 98% and I think that's pretty good. I'm kinda wondering if I've lost any weight yet but I'm going to wait until my surgeon weighs me next week. Hopefully I'll get a good night's sleep tonight and tomorrow will be better. Didn't want to derail the thread, just wanted to let you know that I'm suffering along with you! I really agree with what the vets on this board have said: the preop is the hardest part of the whole process. -
Thoughts and concerns about the preop diet
Noor1969 replied to Noor1969's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What a happy coincidence that we have the same surgeon. I haven't been to Dr. Lisa's support group at the Hamilton YMCA yet but I'm going to try. My surgery is going to be at Princeton Hospital @ Plainsboro. Well, it's Day 3 of the diet and I must say I'm feeling awful. Have a major headache. I am so grateful that my surgeon is allowing me to eat veggies--I ate an entire cauliflower for lunch this afternoon! I walked in the pool for an hour today and was pretty worn out afterwards. I'm going to stay away from more intense cardio and weights until after my surgery. I'm just not up to it now. Thanks again to all of you. Your kindness and concern shown means more than you could ever know. Hopefully tomorrow will be better! -
You have an incredible story. So inspirational. I will be getting sleeved in a couple of weeks and hearing about your success has me convinced that I've made the right decision. Congratulations to you!

Thoughts and concerns about the preop diet
Noor1969 replied to Noor1969's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, Dr. Lisa is the greatest! I just need my medical clearance from my PCP and my insurance authorization, then I should be good to go for the 22nd! We are lucky to have such a great surgeon. Day 2 of the preop is almost over--going to have my last shake and a big cucumber/lettuce salad. Am a bit nervous about hitting the weight machines again tomorrow as that trembly weak feeling really freaked me out. I think I'm going to cut back on the number of reps and the amount of weight I will use. I'm ask going to have an extra Protein shake and a handful of baby carrots to sneak in a few carbs for energy. I don't think that'll mess things up.
