I developed celiac disease and lactose intolerance post sleeve, so now I'm pretty paleo. I eat an egg and apple slices for breakfast and lunch, an ounce of almonds for snacks, and for dinner some homemade grilled chicken or beef and grilled veggies. No food after 8pm. Black coffee or almond milk lattes if I drink something other than water. If I really crave something sweet I may have a banana, or berries. Every once in awhile I'll have 100% dark unsweetened bakers cocoa which was quite the adjustment for me. I don't eat any processed foods and I try to only cook for myself.

I'm no pro, not by any means, but you may consider upping your calories to 1200 a day and see if there is improvement. Just my opinion and experience.

I Want To Know What It Was Like Having Sushi For The First Time After Having The Sleeve!
Dani.o.dani replied to jaclyn.alexis's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So far sashimi is the only meat I can keep down. I'm so happy that I found something that satisfies and stays where it's supposed to! Operated on January 21st. -
January 2014 Sleevers Come In!
Dani.o.dani replied to HipsAndLipstick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My full feelings aren't at all what I'm used too. I just eat a little bit and then I try to pick up the fork and at the bottom of my sternum a little flutter whispers no more. It's a very light and faint feeling and I just don't want anymore either. So I stop. Idk what full feels like to others, but that's how it feels to me. -
January 2014 Sleevers Come In!

I'm moving on up to soft and moist food today (Yay!) and I had sashimi today. I'm having serious issues getting in protein from any shakes, they taste awful and come right back up. Actually anything other than sugar free chocolate jello and tea comes up... Until I had a dream about sushi and decided to try. I had a single piece of Toro sashimi (chewed for five minutes a bite) and it completely agreed with me. Fish here I come! Only problem is that I live in Denver and fresh fish is pretty dang expensive out here. -
Surviving when life sucks

I'm so sorry for your loss. Wishing you all the best! -
I got cleared for full liquids today, which also includes cream of wheat and mashed potatoes. My first taste of mashed potatoes with cheese was absolute heaven. Heaven I say. I slowly savored those bites. Then when I got into the car all hell broke lose and a wave of nausea like I'd never ever experienced before took over. I had to find a bathroom ASAP. The splash of cool water, and just sitting still helped me calm down. I didn't end up losing my lunch. I did learn my lesson though. Riding in a car immediately after eating is a No No!

How often do you poop? Don't be shy!
Dani.o.dani replied to Bronco0605's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yayy I finally pooped today! My last bm was just before my vsg on Tuesday. Before this I had constant diarrhea, I went 5-8x every day. It was all of the oil and fat and caffeine. Now that I'm off all that stuff I don't want to start things up again. I spent way too much of my lifetime in the bathroom. -

Stopping BC or Hormones before Surgery - What about Mirena?
Dani.o.dani replied to SparkleCat's topic in The Gals' Room
I'm freshly sleeved and I have had the Mirena for 3 years. my surgeon was very glad to hear that I have reliable bc post op because of the high risk of pregnancy. He recommended that his female patients use at least 2 forms of bc (hormone +barrier) for the first year post op. So far I've had no complications with the implant. -

Hi! I'm Dani and I had my sleeve on Tuesday January 21st, 2014. I live on the Littleton/Centennial border. My insurance is Kaiser. Dr Chae did my surgery at St Josephs hospital in Denver. I'm originally from Aurora, but many generations of my family are natives from Silverton and Boulder. I'm a married 33 year old mother of two. I look forward to being fit in the fittest of all 50 states. Hope your journey goes wonderfully! Keep me posted on your progress. -
why dont u just stay on the pre op diet?
Dani.o.dani replied to neev's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was so hungry on the preop diet that I cried myself to sleep, more than once. I totally cheated by adding in one apple before bed, and I beat myself up about it pretty bad. I ended up talking to my nut who said that the extra apple wouldn't effect me much, but I did do an extra day of just clear liquids just to hopefully be on the safe side. For most of my life I felt like I was starving all of the time. There's absolutely no way I could have continued eating like that, and my nut and therapist agree. I got this surgery to be free from the bondage of hunger. So far it's been completely different. The last time I felt starving was on the operating table. To have a few days of freedom from such horrible and constant hunger is a beautiful gift. I am truly grateful. -
I was slender as a child, but when I hit puberty I began to binge eat. I grew up without access to a lot of food, so whenever the opportunity to eat arose I dug in. I graduated high school about 30#s overweight. My self esteem was really low. I started college two weeks after graduation and I began to eat fast food for the first time in my life. My freshman year of college I gained over 100# in 15 months. I went on to lose and gain the same 100# for the next few years. Having small success only to rebound with even more pounds. I lost weight around my pregnancies but gained a lot with post partum depression. 3 years ago I started working 3rd shift. I was awake over 20 hours a day, which meant I was eating most of the time. I tried changing my diet, exercising, going back to the things that helped me lose weight, but I couldn't maintain any momentum. I was battling severe sleep deprivation and fatigue. I was overwhelmed. Along with food I have another addiction which was totally out of control. In the beginning of 2012 I started getting help. I gained even more weight during my recovery, because as my other addiction began to be slowly healed, my food addiction flared up, then calmed down too. I am in therapy and 12 step groups. I'm also at the absolute heaviest I've ever been. I changed jobs six months ago, and now I sleep every day. I have a great support system, therapist and sponsor who are working with me. I started to try and lose weight on my own, but now that the extra 100# is an excess 170#. I am in constant physical pain. I need a tool to help me with my portion sizes and a support group to help me maintain accountability. I looked into WLS seriously this year, after many years of my doctors expressing concern. I wanted to be able to do it on my own, but I have learned that if I keep trying the same things and expecting a different result I'm absolutely crazy. I need to try something different. I need a long term solution, and I believe that support groups, food journals, and regular exercise are the solution for me. The surgery will help me with my hunger and will help me with my portion sizes, but it's not a magic cure all. My surgery is going to be in January of 2014. I am looking forward to it!

January 2014 Sleevers Come In!
Dani.o.dani replied to HipsAndLipstick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I struggled so hard. And I did end up adding an apple before bedtime. I put my meal in the middle of the day so that I had time to enjoy it and I could tell myself that the food was sustaining me. When I waited until dinner to eat I binged really, really bad the second night. So I took a step back, forgave myself instead of shaming myself, and talked with my NUT. We created an action plan on how to deal with my hunger. I got this surgery because I felt like I was starving all the time, no matter what I ate. That feeling multiplied when I actually cut my food intake for the liver shrinking diet. I just did a lot of liquids and self talk. The days flew by and I'm already post op and at home. Everyone is different, and I wish you nothing but the best of luck in your journey! -
Hopefully I'm going home today

Because of Obamacare my company restructured their insurance plans. I bought the best plan and it has 100% bariatric surgery coverage. So my out of pocket expense was just 250 for hospital admission. I'm still insured under my husband's insurance policies, so they are picking up that 250 copay. In short, my hospital visit and surgery are completely covered! I'm through Kaiser Permanente in Denver, CO
