Hi Lynn, I have no idea what is going on with you, but you are taking the first step to finding out by having the upper GI done. I have a hiatel hernia as well, and mine is managed with nexium. I wish you well and don't drive yourself crazy with worry in the meantime. You will find out exactly what is going on next Wednesday. Take Care!!!

Hi Crystal, My insurance covered my first banding and they covered everything when I had my old band replaced. I can't understand why the insurance companies give everyone such a hard time about getting the band or gastric bypass. They would come out ahead with healthier clients.

Hi Nursedeeva, The banding procedure is a fairly new procedure here in southwest VA and eastern TN where I live and all of the surgeons that were offering the surgery were very new at the procedure. I was my doctor's 3rd or 4th banding. It has really taken off here though. I was anxious to get the procedure done and didn't want to wait until they worked all of the bugs out. I was willing to take the risk of complications, which I ended up having. But you know what? I would do it all over again in a heart beat with my 80 some pound weight loss. My health has improved and I feel like a new person. So much energy. It is just amazing!!!

Hey dping, That's 18 lbs gone already...That is Awesome!!! I have no idea what the pain in your side could be. I hope that you made your appointment with your doc so they can figure out what is going on. Keep me posted on what they find out. In the meantime, keep up the good work.

Hi dping, Sorry to hear that you are having probs already. You are probably still healing from your initial surgery, so hang in there. I hope that you find out what is going on with your band because we sure can drive ourselves crazy trying to figure it out ourselves. I would think that just repositioning the band would go easier than replacing the whole band. You have had an excellent weight loss so far....keep up the good work!!!

I recently dealt with a slipped band. My symptoms were acid reflux for the first time in my life. I had to sleep sitting up and even then I was up all night with the reflux choking me. I couldn't eat or barely could drink. I ended up having my old band removed and a new one put in. My first surgeon had given me the smallest band that they make. That is why my band slipped I am being told. I am three weeks out of surgery and feeling wonderful. I realize now that I never felt right after having my first band put in. It was too restricting even when I didn't have any fill. I now feel wonderful and am looking forward to many years of sucess with my new band.

Karey, Congratulations on your banding. You are doing GREAT! 13 lbs is an excellent weight loss is such a short time. Just be patient and the pounds just keep coming off. I believe that you are truly feeling hungry, and a fill should do the trick for you. You have to remember that this is a huge lifestyle change for us. I was banded Sept. 9th of last year and have lost a total of 80 lbs. I would do it over again in a heart beat. So don't get discouraged and keep up the good work!!!

My Theory on Pouch Dilation - Babs, Shelly, Dr. C
Macabella replied to luckyme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone, I was banded almost a year ago. I weened myself off of my aciphex because of the cost factor and ever since then, I have had problems keeping anything down. Food seems to be getting stuck more often and when I go to sleep at night, I suffer from acid reflux symptoms. It has been very unpleasant to me. Hours after I eat, I still have trouble drinking anything. It's almost as if my pouch is not emtying properly. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Waiting to hear back from you. -
Hey Joyce, Nice to see you here. I missed your one year anniversary...Congrats!!!! Time sure flies when you are having fun. I am so grateful to you for paving the way for me. You went first and I followed. And just like you, I love my band and wish I had done it ten years ago. I am so proud of you and how well you have done. Take care my lap band buddy....Macabella

Hey Slim, Congrats on your new band. I live in Marion...had my banding done in Johnson city by a bone headed doctor and am now seeing Dr. Sass. I am so happy to be working with Dr. Sass now. I've been very busy this summer and haven't spent much time on the computer at all, but this site sure helped me out tons with wonderful information from fellow banders. Take Care and maybe I'll hear from you again. Take Care and God Bless You and your efforts.

What is pb? I'm new and don't know the lingo yet...Thanks -
Hey Cat, My prayers and best wishes go with you as you get banded day after tomorrow. I too was nervous, but that is normal. We are always afraid of the unknown. I had my gall bladder out as well and am almost good as new 9 days later. The bra didn't bother me one bit, but everyone is different. Take Care and let us know how everything went...ok?

Hi DVSABoss, Sounds like you did GREAT at work on Sunday. Good for you! Just don't push yourself too hard. There must be a fine line between not getting enough exercise and over doing it. I know we should be getting some exercise, but I sure can feel it when I do over do it. It is amazing at how much more energy we have even from a small weight loss. I went to my surgeon yesterday and had my staples removed. I am down 17 lbs....YIPPPPPPPEEEE!!! I love my coffee too. At first it was like a tiny cup and I couldn't even finish that but now I'm up to two cups in the morning an hour before my breakfast. Well Take Care and it's great to have this website for support and encouragement. I love it.

Hi Shawn, I had to laugh about what you said about your stomach girgling...like a clogged drain. My stomach too has been making the strangest noises and it makes me laugh. I wonder if this will eventually go away or if we will have to get use to the girgle girgle girgle...Hahaha. Congrats on your band and my prayers for a speedy recovery.

Congrats Ladysplenda!!! I remember the day that I found out that I was approved.....and it felt wonderful! You are on your way now girl. I'm so happy for you. Prayers and Good Wishes to you.

Hi Everyone, I'm a newbie here and was wondering what "NSV" stands for. I tried to figure it out all on my own, but haven't had any luck yet. Best Wishes to ALL of You!

Hi DVSABoss, I too have been eating baby food, but only found one that I liked after adding some salt of course...And I like you was having the worse time getting my water down. In fact I think I was starting to get dehydrated the first couple of days. How did it go for you at work yesterday? I hope it went well and that you weren't in too much discomfort. I feel tired now if I over do it. Take care and my prayers for a speedy recovery for you.

Pre Surgery Diet...Having some Trouble
Macabella replied to Terrilen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Matt, I think we ALL agree that the liquid diet thing is the worse. I couldn't even watch food commercials on TV. The thing that got me through was jello, and I fell in love with popsicles. Even now after my band is in place, I love sugar free popsicles. I like the chocolate protein drinks, but sometimes they have a funny after taste. My All time favorite was Atkins creamy vanilla. Best wishes and prayers to you Matt. -
Pre Surgery Diet...Having some Trouble
Macabella replied to Terrilen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Terrilen, Thanks for the Good Wishes and most of all prayers. They must be working because I feel GREAT today. Each day it is amazing how much better you feel as you heal. My husband and I went to McDonalds this morning. I drank my coffee while he ate his big beautiful bacon egg and cheese biscuit right in front of me and guess what? It didn't bother me one bit. It's not an issue anymore. I wasn't hungry. Now that I am feeling better, I have even been preparing meals for him. This band is just so unbelievable!!! I LOVE IT. You will too. When is the big day for you? Take Care Macabella -
Pre Surgery Diet...Having some Trouble
Macabella replied to Terrilen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Terrilen, I too had to do a ten day liquid diet like Anne and I too didn't stick to it. I only cheated a couple of times, but made sure that I only ate protein when I did cheat. And the closer I got to surgery day....I was VERY good. And like Anne said, don't beat yourself up about it. If we could suceed at weight loss, we wouldn't need the band. I was banded 7 days ago and am recovering slow but sure. I had to have my gall bladder removed at the same time. Two for the price of one. It's tough, but it will be so worth it in the long run. The diets are intended so that the surgery and healing time goes smoothly. My prayers go with you. -
Hi fellow September Bandsters! I was banded on September 9th...plus had to have my gall bladder removed at the same time, so my recovery is going a little slow. I sure miss sleeping on my side. I'll be sleeping on my back for some time yet. Today is one week for me, and I am able to get around pretty good. We are all on our way to a new healthier body. I can't wait!!! I go see my surgeon on Monday to get my staples removed. I am trying to remember to make sure that I get enough fluids in so I don't get dehydrated. Good Luck to You All!!! We Are On Our WAY!!!!

Hi Ditzy*Bell, Congrats on your banding and weight loss!!! How did it go at the surgeon? I am doing the ten day pre op diet now and go for blood work this Friday. I am so excited to get banded!!!! Take Care Ditzy and keep up the good work!!!!
