My surgery was scheduled for 830 this morning and I had to be there at 539. Drove to my brothers last night and went it bed at 10. Felt good, no problems. Then I was unable to go to sleep. Midnight, 1am, 2am. By 230 I was in an awful sweat, my pulse was racing, and my stomach felt sore. It was like dumping but I don't know why I had been on my liquid diet. So by 330 it was not any better so I texted my friends and brother who we're coming that I was not going. I just didn't feel like it was safe given the way my stomach and heart were doing. Later in the morning I think the stomach may have been gas but not sure. I called the hospital to cancel but was unable to get anyone until 630. Then the doctors nurse called me about 930 to check on me but I was trying to rest and had the ringer off. I called them back she left a message to reschedule but then I had to leave her one too. I hope they can reschedule it before the end of the year as I've met my deductibles. But it's been an awful day still have not slept. I don't know if it was a panic attack or nerves but when she reschedules me I'm going to see if I can get an Ativan or something for the night before. I even had the bear my sister gave me when I had pancreatitis in 2009 that plays "don't worry be happy" with me! Hope none of you experience this and all goes well.

Mine is in the morning too and I've had the same concerns. A coworker had it done 4 years ago, same procedure, had no pain and no pain med! My doc has already told me I'll have a pain pump in my IV and already gave me a prescription for when I get home. Also have me something else to take twice a day when I get home but it's not for pain it's for healing or an antibiotic I can't remember. I think it's different for everyone. I'm praying you and I are pain-free and on our way to a healthy life here this time tomorrow! Another weird thing is my doc put me on a liquid diet for 2 weeks, not just two days

That is great that you are coming around. Thanks again for sharing what you went through. It's good to know even that bad experience we can make it through!

What about ex-lax? I've heard that works well. I may get me some tomorrow for when I come home. Hope you're feeling better and that you've been able to poop. I'd say if something doesn't change soon to call the doc.

Lol that's right! I told everyone I probably would not be good company that day lol. But as long as the pain mess work I will be ok. I am severely allergic to pain!! One of my coworkers had it done 4 years ago and she never had any paid or even pain meds even the day after the surgery.

Get your doc to give you a prescription for liquid hydro codons/acetomenophine. I got mine filled today. You will have to go pick it up though. They can't send it electronically. I hope I don't need it... But will have it if I do. Keep us posted and hope you are feeling better than you did this morning.

I know exactly how you felt. The first couple of days I was ready to slap someone. Then I watched a required video that talked about all the things that "could happen" which put a fear in me for a couple of days. But the way I see it is this: I have had soooooo many tests (heart, egd, eye) that surely if I wasn't supposed to have this done something would have shown up. So I'm pretty ok with it. It happens Tuesday morning so I better be!!

Congrats! Mine is on Tuesday and the day after your surgery is my birthday.

I'm worried about that too but trying not to think about it. Hope you are managing your pain and are up and walking now.

Hope you are at home now and doing well. That dilaudid is good stuff I had it when I had pancreatitis.

Wow I forgot about that. CFDC is the only soda I drink and that's usually one 20oz bottle a week on the weekend. But still, I'll miss it!

Thank you! I cheated on the pre op but not much hope it is ok.

The paperwork I have gives general instructions: the pre-op diet is comprised primarily of liquid protein shakes/drinks . . .there may be some solid food incorporated as well. Ultimately it's what the dietician discussed in detail with us. Yeah it seems it's all across the board. They did a whole lot of stuff to me. Full body scan, I mean everything. Must have determined I'd had enough meat!

Why are some people on this "liquid" duet also having 4oz of turkey?

You're right. I think getting my body cleared of all these impurities will allow me to do that. I'm just a big baby lol!
