Congrats mrsglomartin!! You're doing amazing I'm so happy to hear how much your life has changed for the better ! Keep up the good work ???? I started at 274 pounds and right now I'm 200 pounds. I've been stalled for a few weeks this always happens and the stalls are getting even longer. I take my protein everyday and I drink lots of water I also go running.. I'm just a slow loser I guess lol What multivitamin do you use ? Right now I'm taking prenatal vitamins and I'm not sure if that is a great idea

Where are all the Canadians ?
BriWLS replied to canadianchick's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Get Canadiangirl! Did they give you a date yet or do you have to wait for your last appointment ? During this waiting period I remember I would go through a lot of doubts and worry but honestly it's been the best decision I have made in my life -
How are all of you doing now ?

Where are all the Canadians ?
BriWLS replied to canadianchick's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hey ! I'm from Brampton too I am 5 months post op I had my surgery in April and I'm down 73 pounds so far. If any of you have any questions let me know ! -
Hey everyone! I was just wondering if any of you have had this surgery done more than 10 years ago and if you could let me know how the long term affects are? I spoke to my doctor about this but he told me that there are not very many study follow ups on post op patients of more than 10-15 years. I'm curious because I am having this surgery done in April and my parents and I are more worried about the long term effects such as weaker bone or increase arthritis) as well as fighting infections if one was to get seriously sick do gastric bypass patients have the same strength ability to fight these infections ?? Sorry for such a serious thread I'm just 20 years old and I have so many thoughts about this procedure before I have it on April. Thank you

Get everyone ! I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced pain on the left side of their abdomen. I am 3 weeks post op and I was healing fine but all of a sudden my left side became extremely tender and hot.. Is this normal? I have also come to a weight stall is this normal so early ? I have been doing everything the doctors and nutritionist have told me to do. Please let me know that's guys!!

Hey ! The pain still comes back for me it depends on how I sleep the night before but I'm not 100 % sure what it is yet when it happens to me I sleep on my back the next day to see if it helps so no pressure is on my tummy and it helps me the next day. When I meet with my surgeon I'll let you know what he says about it too

Thanks everyone for the feedback! The pain has gone away but I'm seeing my surgeon on the 21st so I will mention it to him and my stall has gone! I feel a lot better I changed up my Protein shake schedule and it seems to be working. Thanks again everyone bless all xo

Nerve block is that another surgery?

I'm doing good but I'm having great difficulty with the Protein. Every time I try to mix it with anything it causes instant nausea and stomach cramps. I'm praying that when I enter the next stage of puréed foods I'll be better able to disguise the taste of the protein. I discussed this with my doc and he's not too worried about me not getting the protein while it's crucial to my successful weight loss, he wants me to focus on getting in my supplements and staying hydrated. I tried the muscle milk for the first time today. It made me feel a little nauseous but as I'm sipping on it slowly it's better than anything else I've tried thus far. All the best to you!!! Hi April21Sister! Just hang in there, I too was getting fed up with liquids and purée, I just started putting in more flavor in my food, I even had mushy Cereal yesterday. I'm feeling ok except today and yesterday I was so tired and feeling chills, I slept extra hours, also having a little pain on my left side near the stitches don know what that could be. I'm seeing my doc and nutritionist on 21st, hope he can answer. Very confused on how much to eat, I guess we are afraid of eating to much and worried about any complications, we should relax I guess and learn to understand our bodies more...lots of learning ahead. I'm going to try the Premier Protein from costco. Stay strong and keep up the progress...!

Hey! I got sent home yesterday I feel a little bit better but the pain Is still a decent amount. Do you have trouble sitting up because of your stomach ? I feel like I have no strength in my abdomen it's hard to get out of bed let me know if you are experiencing the same

I'm in so much pain it goes all the way to my back

Thank you for the prayers , I hope things work out the way we want. I'm so nervous about the whole thing and sometimes I question my choice as I've never had any kind of surgery before. Now that it's only a few hours away I'm more scared! I pray for both of us and let's connect again after surgery, I want to make sure all went well with you....good luck!!

My surgery is in 8 days, and I can't help but go back and forth with the positive out comes just as much as the negative ones. Will my father say "I told you so" when I'm having my rough days ? I have never had a surgery before and this one is major. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers everyone ????

My surgery is on April 21st! I am on pre op diet optifast for 3 weeks before surgery first day has been rough
-
Thanks for your feed back that makes me feel better! Are we allowed to ask the surgeon what complication in surgery rate is like mortality number? Or is that insulting to the physician
-
Hey everyone!! So I'm meeting my surgeon on March 7th, I am so nervous! What is it going to be like? What was it like when you guys met yours??
-
Congratulations on you progress so far! I will be having my surgery some time in April so I'm nervous I always get my doubts and my fear is how my relationship with my friends will change. I will only tell my immediate family unless a close friend asks me. I am 21 years old I weigh 260 pounds at 5'5, I suffer with PCOS, I have been heavy my whole life and PCOS does not make it easy. I'm ready for a BIGA change! Thank you for sharing your story truly an inspiration!

2nd gastric bypass for me
BriWLS replied to Stacyb8923's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm sorry to hear about all the trouble you are going through Stacy! my thoughts and prayers go out to you. Did the doctors give you a explanation to why all this has been happening to you? Or did this all suddenly happen with no warnings? -
Gastric bypass rny long term
BriWLS replied to BriWLS's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hi !! thank you for responding to my inquiry I wanted so much to touch base with someone who had the surgery for a while. I am 21 and about to undergo the procedure but was uneasy about the long term effects on my body down the road. My concerns are and I will list them... 1. How are you feeling after all these years? 2. Have you any regrets about having this done? 3. Has the surgery and lack of nutrients affected your bones or health negatively long term? 4. If you had children, did it effect your ability to go full term? Were you able to provide enough nutrients to the baby? 5. Was getting sick with things like the flu harder to get over? 6. Did you have PCOS before? If so, did the surgery cure that? Did you suffer with more stomach issues due to the surgery? 7. Did you go through menopause? If so, was it normal? I know its a lot of questions and your probably thinking what did I get myself into but these are just some of the concerns I have at this point and the answers you give me Will be so much help. I know I will have more as my procedure comes closer but for now I am so very grateful for your help! -
