  1. I can have guacamole... which I love. But no tortilla chips. I can have salsa, which I love. But no chips. I can have hummus... which I love. But no pita chips. I can have dips... but no chips! Am I totally having a WTF?! moment or are there things I'm just not thinking about?
  2. You, my dear, are incorrigible. Good luck with your new life. Sorry I tried to offer you some advice on a Bariatric Forum for people seeking ADVICE ABOUT BARIATRIC SURGERY.
  3. I can tell you its helping me! I've never heard of slider foods until this post and now I know what to avoid.
  4. I also have seen you flip out on people on here as well. Don't ask questions if you don't want people's answers. We are not doctors. I made a suggestion to you. There is no need for you to react the way you are, and I also TOLD you that I did not mean it condescendingly. But please, you can act like I took a direct stab at you. Based on the information I see you post, I simply made a comment saying its not normal. If it was, why would you be asking? I suggested a second opinion by another nut. So calm down, and again; WE ARE NOT DOCTORS. We are simply a bunch of people going down the same road you are trying to help. If you don't want the help, DON'T ASK.
  5. I don't want to be rude, and please don't take it as if I am... But I have seen your numerous posts about being 'normal' or if this or that is 'normal.' Every time you get the same reactions. I fully believe that this diet is slowly undoing what you wanted to accomplish. It isn't a matter of 'starving' yourself if you are following the diet and getting the correct amount of supplements and vital minerals and Protein. You also have to weigh your food. Your stomach can only hold so much without being stretched now. The amount you are consuming is sure to be stretching it. It isn't a matter of healing faster. It is a matter of anatomy and the ideals of the surgery. You can keep posting and asking if things are 'normal.' But honestly, no. None of what you are doing is normal. Talk to another nut or another doctor and get another opinion. Again, I mean no offense. But someone just getting out of the hospital and being explained the severity of following a proper diet knows all of this. Best of luck.

    That awkward pureed stage...

    Thank you so much. (:
  7. I wouldn't eat to feel full. I would eat the amount and weight your nut tells you to. I haven't seen anyone as advanced as you in the diet at your stage. I'm not judging, but it just seems crazy that that would be your diet already. You may be stretching your stomach only 3 weeks out.

    That awkward pureed stage...

I wish I could breeze thru it. But I was put in the hospital due to my stomach not accepting the new staples in it. It got so swollen that it rubbed against my pancreas and gave me severe pancreatitis. I was actually just discharged on friday. So I have to really take it easy on the pureed foods.

    What’s in your Protein Shaker?

I personally like the Body Fortress Super Advanced whey. Its at Walmart and only about $15. Its not chalky and tastes AMAZING with an extra scoop of Peanut Butter and some bananas blended in. And I normally HATE Protein powders and shakes.

    cant get nothing down

Every surgeons diet plan is different. A month out, and I will be on solid food.

    POOP.

Does anyone know what changes happen in this area after you're sleeved? For example, when did it happen after surgery? How often? I know its gross. But it has to be talked about.
  12. Well as some of you may know I have been complaining about stomach cramps. I had my sleeve done on February 7th and less than a week out I was suffering from severe stomach cramps. To the point where I couldn't eat, I didn't drink, and I wasn't using the bathroom. I brought it up to my doctor at my follow up appointment and he switched me to the full liquids thinking maybe that would give my stomach something to do instead of cramp. Sunday morning, the cramps got so bad that I bought myself to the ER. I had a cat scan done and was later admitted because my stomach is severely inflamed. Its so inflamed that its pushing up against my pancreas. I was severely dehydrated because I couldnt swallow anything due to the cramping. They really don't know what could have caused it other than maybe my natural reaction to having the surgery done. I'm still in the hospital now, and they have me on high doses of antibiotics so hopefully make the swelling go down. They hope to watch me for the rest of the weekend coming home maybe Thursday or Friday. Luckily I didn't have any leaks or anything like that in my stomach but it's still a super painful. Moral of the story is always trust your body. If you know that you're having some pains that aren't normal, go to your doctor immediately.

    Those stomach cramps WEREN'T normal!

Oh, believe me. I asked. He said its most likely just my bodies natural reaction to the surgery. I don't like pointing fingers. I just want to get better and begin to enjoy my new life.

    Phase 2 soups? Full Liquids

Yes, definitely SIP, SIP, SIP. I say that as I post from a hospital bed due to severe dehydration. SIP!

    Those stomach cramps WEREN'T normal!

Thanks, all! You have no idea how much the support helps! They have me on dilaudid every 3 hours and two antibiotics being switched out all day. I had to get another leak test, and it turned out to be fine. (THANK GOD!) But its scary not knowing why it is infected... Will keep you all posted!

    Those stomach cramps WEREN'T normal!

My doctor wanted to tell me that at first and just have me discharged assuming 'it was just normal healing pains.' The two ER doctors knew it was more than that and pushed to keep me. Turns out, its really bad. The stomach meds aren't working, and the dilaudid is just about taking the edge off of the pains. Hopefully this antibiotic thing takes care of it. But I think my doc had his tail between his legs when he found out how much pain I was really in, and especially when the catscan results came back.

    What's this 'leak test' like?

Drink some thick watery stuff as they watch it flow down to your stomach. Its easy. I had to actually have two. One after surgery, and one a week later because I was re admitted for complications. No sweat.

    Phase 2 soups? Full Liquids

Full liquids according to my doc are strained cream soups like cream of chicken, etc. My doc said stay away from lentil and almost all of the ones you listed.... hmm.
  19. Hey all, I'm Bree. I had my surgery on Feb. 7. I'm 22, 5'7". I started at 247, and a week out, I am 232. My surgeon had me on Clear liquids for the first week, and every week I advance. I'm on full liquids now, then pureed, then soft, then regular foods. The clear diet was terrible. I was so hungry but felt like I shouldn't be eating as much so I would stop myself. I had the worst stomach cramps. The kind you get when you are severely hungry. They actually hurt! So on my followup appointment, I brought it to my surgeons attention, and he switched me a day early to full liquids and said that would help, and so far, it has. The problem now is that I feel like I'm eating too much. I haven't felt full yet. I am just eating creamed Soups and pudding and things like that that I am allowed. I do not want those stomach cramps again. I have started Multivitamins and some optisource Protein shakes. I'm just not feeling full and its bothering me. I can eat a whole can of cream of chicken Soup and still want more. Help?

just making sure this is normal...

This same thing has been happening to me. Exactly the same thing. I don't believe its part of healing since its triggered by drinking, eating, and doing common things. The pain is unreal. I don't know what it is, but I'm calling the doctor tomorrow. I was sleeved 8 days ago.
  21. I wish I wanted water as much as you do! I hate water. I just bought crystal light and have been adding lemon to trick myself to believe it isn't water. I'm having a hard time getting all my fluids because of this. Plus, I get bad stomach cramps which I'm looking into with the doctor tomorrow...

    healing

It looks like jencovi answered it. Everyone heals at their own pace. Or maybe the pains are attributed to things you're eating or whatnot. You will get better. Just take it slow.
  23. You truly are an inspiration. Congratulations!
  24. I was sleeved exactly a week and one day ago, and I dropped 22 pounds. Everyone is different.

    Gluttonous PIG!

Thanks guys! Everyone looked at me like I had 5 heads when I talked about the pains. Its good to know other people had the same issue. I'll use your tips. Water is so hard for me. I just bought some crystal light and light apple juice. Maybe that will make me want to drink more.
