  1. Bandster, It breaks my heart that you are having so much difficulty feeling "good!" I hope that the wls will help you! I cannot recommend any neuros in Ak as I live in GA. Sorry! I do know that it was a struggle for me to find one that helped me, though! As I said above, I went thru 6 and FINALLY found one I liked. I do know that imitrex is a big help! I tried maxault and axert but none of the others. They didnt work for me as well as Imitrex. Imitrex comes in several forms, 50mg pill,100mg pill, nasal spray, and injection. I find that the 100mg pill and the injection work best for me. I have not tried the nasal spray though. For you it would probably be best to get the 100mg pack since it comes in a pack of 9. The injection only comes in a two pack. I dont know about the nasal spray, depending on how many treatments are per bottle, that maybe more cost effective as well. Ask your doctor for samples. They get them all the time, and their purpose is to be given to you. Also, write the makers of Imitrex, they have drug assistance programs! Please don't suffer anymore than you have to! Your work environment has a lot to do with it too. You should contact OSHA and inform them of your working conditions! If the building is not up to code, OSHA will make sure it made to be or force the company to provide better working conditions!!
  2. Bandster 1007, You should ask your doctor about Imitrex it is like the leading treatment for migraines!!! It really works. Also I found that your body gets used to flexeril and its effectiveness becomes iffy. I only take it when I get the tension in my neck and shoulder. I wonder if your doctor is knowledgable in migraines and their treatment? Also topamax, which is an antiseizure medication causes the numbness and tingling in your arms, legs, hands, and feet. It can also make your short term memory to go on the fritz, and cause your balance to be off. I only know this because it was given to me as a preventative for the frequency of my migraines. I got so sick on that medication it cause all kinds of side effects, memory loss, tingling in my hands and feet, slurred speech, vision changes, severe low blood pressure, fainting, fatigue, my balance was off and I would run into walls, hell I even forgot words such as pillow, car, and stove. That medicine is not something to be played with. In doctors' original thinking the part of our brain that causes migraines is the same part that effects people having seizures, so they started using topamax and other anti-seizure meds to correct our chemical imbalance. I think they are still trying to study this to see if it works, in my opinion it doesn't. I hope you were weaned off of topamax correctly because it can actually cause long term complications if you were not, including seizures if you do not already have them. You can't just quit that drug cold turkey. It is probably still in your system and that is causing the numbness in your limbs. You really should try imitrex, ask your doctor. If he/she is not willing to perscribe it ask to see a neurologist. I don't hold them in high opinion but it sounds like you would get better treatment from them. I went thru about 6 neurologists before I found one that I liked. Plus, imitrex is alot safer taking in the long run than pain pills. If you are taking pain pills twice a day I would question if you are not experiencing rebound headaches from all the medication. That is something you should put to your doctor as well. Rebound headaches are when you take too much meds to treat the migraine so you continue to have them. If you have a migraine and you treat it, and you get another one a couple hours to a day or two later, I would say you are having rebounds. What I can't understand, is why your doctor is not taking a more aggressive approach to your headaches if you get them so frequently? and why have you not been tried out on any of the triptan based medication? They are especially designed for migraines. There are many such as maxault, imitrex, axert, relpax, frova, amerge, and zomig. These you take at the sign of a migraine. They are more effective if you know your warning sign. Mine is the pain in my neck, which I treat with a flexeril, and if it moves to a pain in my jaw I take my imitrex. This is just my experience with my migraines and all the treatment I have recieved over the years, I am not trying to say that this is what you should do. But I think that you should be talking to your doctor about better meds or getting a referal to a neurologist. In this day and age you no longer have to suffer from migraines, so why is your doctor letting you? I would be curious as to what pain pills you are taking? I know codine based pain pills give me migraines.
  3. I have migraines and tension migraines. I use imitrex and flexeril (spelling?) When I feel that tension in my neck I pop a flexeril and I can usually catch it before it blows into a migraine. Have you tried flexeril? It is a muscle relaxer. Pain killers, while they work sometimes, have a tendancy to give you rebound headaches. Has you doctor specifically focused on your migraines? Are you on or have you taken imitrex or any of the other triptan based migraine products? I have had migraines since I was a little girl and have gone thru various treatments and so called preventitive measures and have found that the only thing that works for me is the combination of the flexeril and imitrex. I had tried the imitrex 50mg and 100mg years ago and found that only the initrex injections worked. Then a couple of years ago my Doc told me they reformulated the 100mg tablets and I should try them because they compared to the shot. Well, come to find out they worked. I can't answer your question on if they get less frequent after you loose weight, but I have them less frequently now. I have been banded since august and have not yet lost much weight. I am now a stay at home mom, but I did work in conditions almost identical to yours, and yes the working conditions factor in as well. Where there is leaking water there is mold and that mold can trigger a migraine. Hope you get relief soon!!

    Need advise

Maybe you stomach is swollen? I think that it swells when you get a fill but I am not sure. It might explain the knot in your chest?
  5. I don't think that it will be a problem. Your body will tell you if you need to eat. Make sure to pack lots of water cause I think banded people dehydrate faster. Have you ever heard of a platapus? It is a plastic bladder that holds water and has a tube running out that you can suck from. Hikers use it cause it is less weight and bulk than a thermos. Also cyclists use it, the carry it in a pack on their back the hose has a clip that can clip to you shirt infront for easy access. You can find them a camping stores. They are kinda pricey but the are really convienant. My husband is a firm believer in snickers bars when he goes hiking. He is not banded but he is type 1 diabetic. Snickers has protien and sugar to boot so when his blood sugar gets low he has himself a snickers. The chocolate gives an instant boost cause it takes a while for the protien to kick in. In my personal opinion I think you will be fine, plus you will get some killer exercise!! That is if you don't use a 4wheeler to get to exactly where you set up. Keep your food bag handy so you can eat when you want. I would also keep something with sugar, if you don't like snickers, so if you feel weak you could make it thru. Individual juice boxes are a good choice since it is natural sugar and it doesn't take long for the boost to kick in. You could pack those in a food bag, before hand removing the plastic from the straw that is attached since it is quite noisey. Most people don't know how many calories hunters use, but I know you burn alot. Most people think you just sit there all day. LOL. Of course the is in my opinion, you should check with you medical professional before you go, he/she may have a better idea than me. Hopefully Happy Hunting!!!!

    Panic Attacks after Fill

I had really bad postpartum after my baby, and went thru several antidepressants. Paxil was the worst. Paxil gave me anxiety attacks, which I had never had before, and I would pick at my arms like a crackhead. My doctor finally put me on Zoloft and I have to say, I am on the lowest dosage and it is a God send!!! I don't think I could have made it this far if it wasn't for that little pill!! I know this is off subject but I just wanted to second the praise for Zoloft!!!
  7. Thanks so much for the reply, FFB! It help alot. As I said I am not worried about it, I was intrested in what would happen when the time came for baby#2 post banding.
  8. Hey fabfatgrl, I got the band because I was not done having children. I was just wondering, does the port become pronounced as your stomach grows? I didn't think about it before I had the surgery, but after I got it I started thinking. Does it stick out? Is it sensitive? Please let me know, I am not worried about it, but I am curious.

Working out with no wt loss

Keep in mind to that you are building muscle which weighs more than fat!! I agree though you should change up a bit. When I had a personal trainer we never did cardio and lifting on the same day. We also rotated which area we worked. Example: Monday- arms and upper body Tuesday- cardio Wednesday-abs Thursday- cardio Friday-legs and butt. Cardio was an hour long all the others were 30-45mins.

Have a life before you start a family you will appriciate you experiences so much more. Congrats again and good luck on your journey to beautiful womanhood!!

    On the go solid protien

Power bar makes a great vanilla yogurt protien bar that has 26g of protien. It is good but all the vitamins kinda make your mouth burn. Well atleast it makes mine. The vanilla yogurt bar is the only one I really like, and for a meal on the go its filling.

    special k protein water

Powdered milk gives you 8 grams of protien per 1/3 a cup. It doesn't sound like alot but try adding 1/3 cup of powdered milk to a slim fast and it is just nasty. I try splitting it up by adding part to my slimfast and part to my morning coffee like creamer. It takes getting used to but it works, I guess.

    Realized Im Failing FAST!!!

White06 I remember your post from my "Southern Sweet tea" post. If you are drinking 2 McDonalds sweet teas a day you are consuming aprox. 1100 extra empty calories! And that is a conservative aproximation. I have been a slow looser too because of my sweet tea addiction. Please go back and read my sweet tea thread. I am not trying to preach or attack you but you have to cut that sweet tea out!!! I know that the empty calories I was consuming on sweet tea is what was keeping my weight hanging on. You could avoid the extra 1100 calories by taking MSDAD's advice and try mixing the splenda, sweetnlow, and equal to get the same sweet tea effect. It really is good, and that is saying alot comming from me, a former sweet tea addict. Try to be concious of the liquid calories you consume, if you illiminate those from your diet you are probably not eating too bad. I know I dont eat bad, but I know I do drink bad things. Just trying to help, hope I didn't offend you. Good luck!

    Re-using the fill needle?

My husand is type 1 diabetic and sometimes if he doesnt get his needle scrip filled he re-uses. I know it is gross and I yell at him every time he does it. I do know that the first time you use a needle it dulls the tip so it will hurt more if he tried to reuse it. If it is a needle like what a dentist uses, you know the big stainless steel ones with the finger loops, I suppose you could sterilize it. But I thought that the needle part was fresh everytime? I would complain too!

How hard is it to paint your interior???

If you are gonna paint over a darker color with a lighter color you have to prime it first. Although, if it is a demo house the walls are probably creme or off white. If you do two coats of paint you shouldn't have streaking. The bitch is painting near the top and around the edges. I used that blue painters tape and it sucked and wasn't that easy to remove. The clean up is the bigest problem. Washing everything. I have a septic tank so I had to wash my stuff in my back yard with the hose. Then I felt guilty because I was polluting my yard!!!! Rollers are the best cause you can throw away when done, but you need to use a brush for the edges. I used foam brushes cause they were cheap and can be thrown away but they don't work as easily as a paint brush. Washing the walls is a must. I started painting cause I didn't know and ended up painting cob webs onto the wall. I was also told not to paint when it is raining cause the humidity would make you paint dry sticky. Don't know if that is true but I didn't risk it.

    Southern Sweet tea!!!!!!!!!

White06 did you know that if you drink 2 large sweet teas from Mcdonalds alone you are adding aproximately 1100 extra calories to your daily intake. Probably a little more than that since that is a conservative estimate. Most sweet tea has more sugar calories than most sodas do. Please try this recipe the sweet tea is no good for you!!
  17. Oh God, I love it. Tell me to give up sodas-no prob. Sweet tea on the other hand is my issue. I went to a restaurant the other day that was self serve drinks and they had 3 tea urns. Yes, 3: Unsweet, Sweet, and Sweetest. What is this world comming to? It helps not being able to drink when eating, but I just can't give it up. I keep telling myself that I am just giving myself empty calories-and alot of them, but it is an addiction. I feel like a smoker who can't give up cigarrettes. I have tried using splenda and can't choke it down. Uggghhh! Just had to vent, thanks for listening!

    Southern Sweet tea!!!!!!!!!

Well, I have to say THANK YOU MSDAD! Your trick worked!!! You were right too, that mixing the splenda, sweetnlow, and equal was even better! I am proud and glad to say I am cured of my sweet tea adiction. For all sweet tea lovers who view this thread try MsDad's concotion. It is awsome. I don't think I will ever go back to old fashion sweet tea again!!!!! I can't thank you enough MsDad!

I hate a lot of you. I really do.

I believe beauty is 50% confidance and 50% personality.

I hate a lot of you. I really do.

I agree with Mary Jane get a makeover. Put your trust into someone trustworthy and let them do your hair and makeup. I am the kinda person who stays with safe haircuts and makeup. If you are anything like me, go wild! Let the hairdresser take over, tell her you want something to wow people with. Just remember if your face looks like a full moon, like mine does, don't go too short! Keep it just below the chin or a little longer. Get some high and low lights and try new makeup. There are women at the department stores just dying to do people up. Get a wild new hair cut, then go to the mall and get a makeover. Then strut your stuff around the mall (sholders back, head up), while getting some exercise, you can turn some heads!

    Southern Sweet tea!!!!!!!!!

Thanks so much MSDAD!!! I think what I am gonna do is make a pitcher of unsweet and just sweeten it by the glass. Thanks so much for the recommendation!!!!

    Southern Sweet tea!!!!!!!!!

MSDAD, I am interested in your "tea sweetening" technique. So lets say I have a normal restaurant size glass of Unsweet tea, how much of each should I put in? Do you use the packets or what? Every time I try getting unsweet and sweeten it with sweetnlow I put too much and its nasty. I am really thinking your method might work. I like hot tea with sweetnlow so I might like ice tea with the mix. Please let me know!

    Grrrr! I'm annoyed.

Maybe your friend is jealous? I HAD a friend who was the skinniest of my little group and loved it. She was a size 12 and loved getting all the attention when we went out. All the guys would come over to her. When any of us lost any weight she would get mad and constanly throw food in our faces or make negative comments. I don't know your friend, but that may be a possibility.
