  1. Before I became a SAHM I worked in a very high stressed job. Everybody there was crocheting so I picked it up. Believe me it does keep your hands busy and it is suprisingly very relaxing!
  2. I am really feeling the same hassle with food now too. But I am glad I have to force myself to eat as opposed to forcing myself to stop eating!!!

    Angry Friends

People are afraid of change. And you will be changing when you get your band. Maybe not your personality but your body will definately change. While they are offering ask them to pay for your gym membership. LOL!

    did this happen to you?

Sometimes it takes a couple of weeks to feel the full effect of the restriction on your band. I agree going back to basics (liquids/mushies) and also make sure you are getting ALL your water in. For me I got even tighter when I wasn't drinking all my water.
  5. My friend has just lost a ton of weight and has mega excess skin folds. Her sister told her that a Burn unit here in Georgia where I live will do her plastic surgery for free and even compensate for lost salery while recovering so that they can use her skin to graft to burn patients. Does anyone know if this is true and if so where can I find the information?
  6. Would you have the same doubts if you were getting a pace maker cause your heart was giving out? If it was either get a pacemaker to help your heart with the chance that you might need it repaired or replace or not getting a pace maker and chancing that your heart will be ok on its own, would you still be questioning the decision? I love my band, even though it is not my friend right now, I would do the surgery all over again in a heart beat. Of course you are on the lapband forum so we are all partial to our bands. Just thought I'd thrpw down my 2 cents while we are at it!

    sorry i have to ask...

It's really funny that I am reading this cuz I had the crazy craving for spaghetti-o's the other day too! Of course I horked em up and regretted even putting them in my mouth, but I did notice that it had a pretty decent protien content. You have to ignore the calories and sodium. Well that is the one with the meat balls or should I say mystery balls of processed mystery meat. It was kinda like a donut for me though. Once you eat it you regret it!
  8. I don't understand why it wouldn't be, I mean they use cadaver skin donations to do grafts. I know that the body will tend to reject the skin but you'd think living tissue would be better than cadaver tissue. I am not saying you are wrong Chickie, it just doesn't make since to me.
  9. If I find an urge to shop I go to goodwill or thrift stores. That saves me money and you can find some really amazing stuff if you dig deep enough!!
  10. Thanks for responding, I also heard that live skin couldn't be used, but my friend is the universal blood type, I think it is O+, and she got all this info from her sister who got it from one of the horses mouths. She is one of those people who talks forever about nothing at all so I am hesitant to call her for more details. I tried doing research on it, went to the thinnertimes forum and saw a threat that they don't use living people skin, but my friend said that the burn unit here was desperate for skin donations so they might be trying something new!?!
  11. It is not odd for a man to crochet. It is super calming too. I worked with a guy who crocheted. He was kinda a rasta type and made himself hats to keep his super long locks in.
  12. I don't know about with the smaller band like we have, but I remember reading somewhere that some with the larger 10cc band were filled a little over. Other than that I can give you any insite, sorry!

    Migraines? who suffers like me?

I think we are getting onto a new topic here "what stupid things have you tried, to get rid of a migraine" maybe I should post this as a new topic!! LOL I think I might!

    Migraines? who suffers like me?

Oh wait I just thought of another one....I used to tie pantyhose real tight around my head....pressure seemed to work temporarily. Just watch out for when you take them off cuz all the blood comes rushing back and it feels like you eyeballs are going to explode:eek:

    Migraines? who suffers like me?

Yeah I fully maintain that topamax is bad. Sorry to those it is working for, but for me I really wanted to remember coversations and be able to drive again with out the fear of forgetting where I was and with out the fear of passing out!! I worked with a really nice lady who was a homiopathic freak and she swore by head on. I haven't tried it so I can't give you first hand advice. Since your are drinking gatorade I guess I won't recommend replenishing your electrolytes since you are already doing it. Yeah my head does not do well with the liquid stage either!!! Ummm, you could try banging your head on a door frame, or hitting your temple with a rubber malet.....lets see what else have I tried......you could try jabbing a pen into the offensive eye that is hurting. I am running out of solutions here.
  17. Poor Mone, when it rains it really poors with you!!!!!! I am so sorry!!!
  18. Tulip it sound like you might need some help with the "head" part of being banded. I am not saying your crazy or anything, but since you had a previous problem this might be bringing your issues back to light, don't go it alone!! That is the worse thing. I know this is kinda off subject, but after I had my baby I had postpardum and I hid it for a while. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and reached out for help! It was the best thing I ever did! I was put on and I am still taking Zoloft and I think that it has helped me with the "head" part of being banded too. Please talk to your doctor!! We are not trying to lecture you, it is out of concern for you that we responded. It doesn't make you any different or shameful for needing a little extra help!!

    Migraines? who suffers like me?

Kyethra, it is funny you should mention the lidocain up the nose. One thing I do if I have a really bad one is get flexal or any other mentolated cream and rub on the bridge of my nose, right under my nose, under my eyes, and on my temples. The mentol makes my nose and eyes run like crazy cuz it burns like crap! But it helps the pain. Or maybe it takes my mind off it, who know. If any of yall try this trick, be CAREFUL!!! Don't get the stuff on any mucus membranes, like the inside of the nose or in the eye. Also one of the main ingredients in that stuff is aspirin so don't use a lot and don't do it if you have medical reasons you can't take aspirin.

    Migraines? who suffers like me?

Bandster I am soooooo sorry!!! Since it has been 2 hours can't you take another maxalt. Imitrex you can retreat after 2hours. Take another then take a break and close your eyes for a few....and hey if you can't go to the can and sit on the toilet for a few!!! Plus, looking at the computer screen is not helping!!! Of course you know that so I don't have to tell you!! Get well!!

    Countdown to Onederland!

Hi all you sexies!!! I am comming up on onederland. I started at 235, surgery date 9/7/07 230lbs, current 206, goal 165 (to match the weight that I always put on my license) mega goal 150!!!! I am seven lbs away from onederland!!!! I can't wait!!!

    Freaking Out

While this is a lap-band forum we are all here with the same goal in mind, so don't think we wouldn't offer support no matter what surgery you choose!!! Now thats not to say that the people on hear wouldn't lean more toward the band because that is what we know. If YOU and your doctor feel that the sleeve is a better option for you, you can't help that. I did research like most of the others and I am sure you, and I decided that the band was right for me but it might not be right for you! Which ever you go with I hope the best for you; but, be sure it is what YOU want and something you can live with. If at the end of all your research you still think the band is right for you, talk to your doc and find out if there is a way to work around the problems.
  24. Smoking............I know, I know....I don't need a lecture...at least its not alcohol!!

    Migraines? who suffers like me?

Bandster, I am glad the maxalt melts work for you !!! Tell me about the $$$ of it I feel you there!! My hubby is Type 1 diabetic and goes thru insulin like crazy, the pharmacist told him to have his doc write on the script how much he is expected to take in a month to cover any ins questions on coverage of a double dose vial. Maybe that would work in your case, having your doc write on the script apox. how many you would need to cover a month. About the week long migraine, it is possible!!! But it sounds to me like you were having a rebound migraine which comes from taking too many meds to treat it. I know I know you can't win for loosing with these things! If you don't take a pill you suffer, if you do take a pill to many times you suffer.....aaahhhhh! Be careful with the pain pills, codine can trigger migraines and make them worse!! Want so bad, I love the imitrex injections!! But I hate the stat dose pen!! Plus it is a $25 dollar copay for just 2 treatments!! Now before all yall freak out I cleared it with my doc and she knows I do it...but when I was taking the injections I used to use one of my hubby's insulin needles and draw out the med from the stat dose vial that way I could inject myself slowly instead of having the pen slam it down. I alway got a nasty painful bruises from that stupid pen!!! With the insulin needle I could do it slow and steady without bruising or pain! While I don't recommend anyone doing this on their own, it helped me out. Plus my doc gave me stuff to clean the area properly and the insulin needle was alway sterile!
