    Pureed food stage

My favorite is tuna & low fat mayo pureed....tastes like "tuna dip".
  2. Wow, good point. I'm waiting to see what happens in my life~ not with my best friend but with one who ALWAYS has a lot to say about everything!
  3. From someone only 10 days post-op~ 1~ would not have packed a bag at all for the hospital....stayed in the gown & didn't use one single thing. 2~ that I could ask for a certain pain medication. I got Dilaudid and it was a nightmare. 3~ I wish I could have tasted the chewable Calcium supplements that I ordered online....they taste so bad I had to get something else....wasted money 4~ I wish I would have remembered my old "gym mantra" 'Strong Abs = Strong Back' because, people, WEAK ABS = WEAK BACK....I'm surprised at how much my back is aching.
  4. Must admit that this is super, deep down, dark secret of mine too. I feel like maybe I've messed up my metabolism so much that now, at age 53, I'll be "stuck" like this.
  5. Although I am pre-op, this is what I was told about my post-op progression too. I think you're moving a bit too fast too.

    Pre Op Diet

We have the exact same surgery date and it is MANDATORY for me to do the 2 week Pre-op liquid Diet, no ifs, ands or buts about it! You MUST do the 2 week liquid diet. My NUT is part of my Bariatric Team and EVERYone is on board with what to do and when to do it. The "day before surgery diet" that your surgeon refers to is just that~ to prepare your stomach organ for the actual surgical procedure. The 2 week liquid diet is to shrink your liver so that it won't cover your actual stomach too much and make your surgery more difficult. Your liver could be injured if it is too big and has to "moved" out of the way for the surgeon to operate. You may also have to have additional or bigger cuts if they need more room. Your recovery would be more difficult too. Are you drinking your liquids yet? lolol I'm not trying to scare you but you've made a HUGE life-changing decision~ so chin up, eyes straight ahead and GET TO IT!! The very best of luck to you!
  8. Thanks, McB~ you are a sweetie!! I'm glad you figured out how to maintain YOUR sanity!! Hugs, doll and keep your chin up, you GOT this!
  9. OH boy, you guys are making me nervous! I have avoided my own scale for quite some time now and have only been weighed in the doctor's offices throughout my screening process. After so many years of living and dying by the scale number I HAD to cut the cord. Just the idea of getting on THAT THING again on a routine basis is repulsive. Maybe I better read ANOTHER book on how to deal with THAT!! lololol (surgery date: Dec 19)
  10. Wow~ NO nutritional guidance??? That's horrible!! Looks like you are 8 weeks out and according to MY NUT info, should be SLOWLY introducing "regular" foods into your brand, new stomach. (in VERY tiny amounts) If you are male, you should be striving for AT LEAST 80 grams of Protein per day and should be paying close attention to labels for Sugar, Fat & Sodium content. Sugar~ NO more than 5 grams per serving (NOTE: there should also be NO ADDED SUGAR In your products) Fat~ NO more than 3 grams per serving (if possible) Sodium~ NO more than 140 grams per serving There are exceptions like the Greek Yogurt I like~ it has 7 grams of Sugar BUT 12 grams of Protein. And Unsweetened Apple Sauce that has a fairly high Sugar count but it's NATURAL sugar and NOT ADDED SUGAR. Geez, I am so sorry that you missed all of this. I could go on forever and I will be glad to answer more questions that you might have. You should know that I am PRE-OP but have completed all requirements for surgical approval so the info is still pretty fresh in my 53 year old mind!! As for slow loser, you are at a rate of over 2 pds per week which is awesome and I wouldn't complain a bit about that! Your rate of loss depends on how big you are to begin with too. Give us some more info so the "better informed" folks here can help you, OK?
  11. I responded on Page 1 about not wanting anyone to stay with me. I can see from the responses after mine that having someone there might be a benefit IF it's the right person. In my case, I'd have to entertain my "companion" or I would feel like I had to, so I'll stick with visitors and no sleepovers. Just wanted to amend my first comment to say that I can see that having someone stay could really be a help, so, like Jean said: whatever makes you comfortable!
  12. Wow, the second comment on this.....I think I'm REALLY going to focus on this now that all the "legwork" is done (I hope). I have Geneen Roth's book on Breaking the Emotional Ties to eating. I've got it in my hand right now and I'm going to read and read till I "get it"..... Thank you, thank you, THANK you all for sharing all of this GREAT information for the those of us in the on deck circle!! Hugs, Rosie
  13. Sorry to hear that you have to go through ANY of this at this point in the journey. I am getting my "surgery date" on Dec 3 which is also the day they are submitting to my insurance for approval. My insurance had a check list and my Bariatric Team had a check list of items for me to complete including NUT classes and multiple doctor visits and tests. I've completed every single thing and all of the clearances are done so I'm hoping for a smooth ride. Sounds like nothing is a "sure thing" though, is it? Hope it all works out for you!

    Anyone Not Lose Weight?

Because I'm so short (5'0") I can tell MOST of the time when I've lost weight.....that being said my plan (as of right now) is to stay off the scale till I "notice" a difference. (this is what she's saying pre-op ha ha)

    Today's The Day!

THE VERY BEST OF LUCK TO BOTH OF YOU!!!
  16. NO WAY do I want to have to worry about ANYONE else but myself! Come, visit, then go home and let me rest and heal!!
  17. Wow~ good point~ already worried how my Italian Mom is going to handle it and how I'M going to handle HER!
  18. By no means am I any expert here BUT I would say forget about it and move on! Stay OFF the scale until you absolutely HAVE to get on one (in the dr's office) and do your best from here on out. Are those 5 shakes Protein shakes? If so, are getting the correct amount of protein in each one? My pre-op diet requires at LEAST 60 grams of protein per day. Interesting that they DEMAND that you lose 20 pounds in just 2 weeks~ if you could do that, why would you need surgery in the first place?
