My family too lost coverage due to obamacare. There is good information here for me. We had BCBS Minnesota, but to keep it was 800 month with a 12,000 yearly deductible. I hope to have a new plan soon. Keep us posted on how it works out for you. -
Received the news today, no more health care for the family, and I was doing so good with my pre op diet and losing weight. I hope there is a positive outcome to all this. I have so much more to say but will keep it cival. paul

I gave up diet coke two weeks ago. I thought it was going to be tough but I guess I set my mind to it and I haven't looked back. I know I couldn't drink it after surgery. -
I use Body Fortress, I get it at WalMart for like 17.00 it has 30grams of protein per scoop lasts about a month for me. that is just one drink a day I mix with either water or 1% milk the chocolate is the best for me,

Your husband will come around when he sees how happy you are. Sometimes there is a fear, that with the new you comes new friends. My wife said to me once that shes a bit worried I will look for a new wife when I start to lose weight. I keep reassuring her this is for her as much as it is for me. Stay strong and stay with this forum theres a ton of great people here for support and help. paul -

I met with surgeon today and he said I need to lose 30lbs before surgery, or 20lbs then 7 days on a liquid diet, Protein shakes only. Can anybody share on what it was like to be on liqued diet pre op? I dont think I could do a whole week of just liqueds with out surgery. Thanks Paul

I'm just curious as to what they base that off of? I mean at what weight do they say you need to loose weight for the surgery? Do they all say that? Why do they want you to loose? It confuses me!! I don't think I could quote the doctor but it had to do with my BMI and shrinking my liver. Based on what I read here each doctor has a different set of guide lines some require a liquid diet pre op, and some don't just lose the weight. -

lose 30 I dont need the liquids, or lose 20 lbs and 7 days liquid diet, Im thinking just do the liquids and get a surgery date -
Starting second week of no diet coke, this is harder than quitting the booze. It should be better the second week, I do not want to go back to diet coke. Anybody else have a problem with DC? paul

I have been sober 4 years now so I dont drink but I would think that alcohol would lead to bad choices of food and Snacks. you dont want to binge eat after having the surgery. just my 2 cents

I am undecided on the sleeve or bypass. I meet with the Surgeon on the 25th of November to discuss options. I would like to hear some feedback on why some of you chose the sleeve. Thank you in advance.

Found this site a couple days ago, and decided to become a member. Lots of info here and many more people willing to share it. I see surgeon tomorrow, and hope to get a surgery date.
