    Pureed protein ideas?

pureed tuna or chicken or hardboiled eggs with fat free kraft mayo. A little seasoning and this is really good. Fat free refried Beans with a little salsa mixed in. Just be cautious with the salsa. And dont get any of the fancy stuff with corn or other harder items in it. Any kind of Soup ran through the blender. Grits (instant) 1 packet alone. Or 1/2 packet and 1/4 to 1/3 cup egg beaters Egg beaters. 1/3 to 1/2 cup. This is currently one of my mainstays for Breakfast. Western or Florentine are my favs. During the pureed stage I lightly cooked them. Meaning I made sure they didnt brown. It leaves them pretty soft. Small bites and they are fairly mushy.
  2. FYI.. Just was curious about the veterans two or three years out. I have taken my surgery very serious and followed my doc and Nut's instructions fully. I have no intentions of drinking soda anytime soon. Please don't assume I'm falling off the wagon just because I asked. My apologies, looking back at my post I came off rude. I guess it has to do with my thinking of the whole process. When I decided to go the surgery route, I made the decision I was going to completely let go of all the bad habits that got me to where I was. Throughout the process, between the seminars and other group settings so many people are so worried about what they wont be able to eat or drink anymore. I made the decision I was not going to do that. My focus was going to be on where I wanted to go, not where I came from or what I was leaving behind. With that said, everyone is different. And while my way of thinking may be good to some, it may not be good for others. So once again, my apologies for coming off rudely.
  3. I was told 700 to 1000 calories and 60 to 80 grams of protein. With all the exercise your getting, the protein is the main thing you should focus on. As someone said, add a protein shake to your day and see how it goes.

    Spicy foods?

been using hot sauce since about 3-4 weeks post op and no issues.
  5. My question is why would you be thinking about this right now. Throughout the process they tell you carbonation and sleeve surgery do not mix. Maybe once your at your goal, a year or two out, you are probably safe to have a sip or two now and then, but my question again would be why?
  6. Also give it time. I think everyone who loses weight quickly has the "skinny face syndrome" eventually the skin and body will catch up and all will be good.
  7. I had severe heartburn/acid reflux prior to surgery. When they did my surgery they also repaired my hiatal hernia, which is a regular procedure they do during all their surgery's, since they are right there and simple to repair. Since the surgery (7 weeks) I have had absolutely no heartburn. But if you are having heartburn I would recommend getting to a doctor quickly and get a prescription. Too much acid production can cause alot of problems with the healing process.
  8. Try a measuring tape. When the weight loss stalls generally you will still see inches drop.

    Fruit with protein shake

No fruit til the regular diet. 5 weeks+ Then be careful and make sure your sleeve will tolerate it.
  10. I didnt notice anyone else mention this but bring a pillow from home. Its nice to have a fluffy pillow for the hospital stay and its priceless for the ride home. I hugged mine for the full 1 hour ride home. It helps when the driver hits bumps, potholes, fast turns. It keeps your belly from jiggling. Makes the ride alot more comfortable.

Disability claim / time off work

Have you seen the paperwork? Maybe its the same as FMLA, where the doctor doesn't really provide any specifics. Either way, all you need to do is remind the boss that is taking the information about HIPPA and that should keep his lips sealed.

    Trans nasal Endoscopy

I guess I was lucky. They put me under for my endoscopy. I thought it was such a great feeling fading out and then waking up to it being all done. I never have been under anesthesia before then.

Disability claim / time off work

It probably depends who is providing the disability benefits. If it is the employer themselves then they would be entitled to the information. At least the person handling the claim.

    Coffee?

I just looked at the papers my surgeon gave me and after the 2 days of Clear liquids they have coffee listed. So its probably just doctor preferences.
  16. I am a bit late on this thread, but I go tomorrow 12/23/13. Palms of Pasadena Hospital St. Pete Florida
  17. I am still pre-sleeve (24 hours til surgery wheeee!!!) But I have told my co-workers which is about a dozen people and my immediate family. I am not shy about it. And I really dont care what people think or say. The only thing I have not done is put it out to my extended friends and acquaintances on facebook and such. But they will all know soon enough.
