Something that might help is getting a cast Iron skillet! It adds iron to your food that’s cooked in it.

Tink22-sleeve reacted to vsgchick in Pouch Reset and Mounjaro?
Hello! Mounjaro has been great for me. I lost the remainder of my regain and 10 additional pounds. I am currently under my lowest sleeve weight and see my bariatric office in 2 weeks to discuss a maintenance plan. I didn't go higher than the 10mg dose (the highest doses are 12.5mg and 15mg). I didn't have any crazy side effects. GLP-1s seem to be a game changer for a lot of people...especially veteran WLS that need a boost but don't want revisions. -

You're welcome! Both medications delay gastric emptying, so that can definitely bring back the restricted feeling. I haven't had any side effects with Mounjaro yet. I ended my Saxenda run at the highest dose, so the beginning dose of Mounjaro (2.5mg) probably won't be an issue. I move up to 5mg next month, so we'll see what happens then. My side effects with Saxenda happened early on and were very mild...fatigue and a little nausea during the first week. I was fine after that. I am grateful to have a bariatric doctor that is educated on GLP-1s and open to prescribing them when needed. I didn't want to go the revision route (and probably wasn't a candidate because even with the regain, I've maintained over 70% of my original weight loss). I just needed an additional tool. Tink22-sleeve got a reaction from Arabesque in My Weight Loss Journey: From 150 kg to 64 kg, and Now Back to 94 kg - Seeking Support and Advice
Hi Seif_s88,
Yes I can relate. I lost about 100 pounds and have gained back about 50. 10 days ago I restarted a Keto diet which has worked for me in the past. Down 10 pounds so far. I find that the keto diet helps with cravings and I like the discipline. I check my urine ketones every morning, and I find that to be motivating, as well as seeing the scale move down. I remembered to get baseline measurements, so I can see progress that way too.
Omgoodness- body image issues. I get that too. I am 55 and was sleeved almost 10 years ago. The ups and downs sometimes make my head spin. Some days I look in the mirror and am shocked to how time has gone by. Overall, I try to be kind to myself. When I get too much in my head about my appearance, I try to remind myself that I am more than this body. So much more.. and so are you

To piggyback on this comment, an FYI. You can buy bags of ice from sonic. They used to be $2 but are probably more now.

I'll tell you a tip that really helped me get in enough water--- Good ice chips:)
8 oz ice chips = 4 oz Water
I prefer the ice chips at Sonic- perfect for enjoying ice chips. A Route 44 cup of ice = 22 ounces of water.
Also sugar free popsicles will really help you out- so helpful, soothing and yummy.
Hope this helps.

Tink22-sleeve reacted to Arabesque in Low On Iron
Just found these two articles about Iron malabsorption you may find interesting. Basically it’s more common with bypass than sleeve & with post menopausal woman. Also said one possibility as to the cause is your reduced diet after surgery while you are losing. To absorb iron you need a range of nutrients which you may not be getting. You are eating much smaller portions & many struggle with beef which is considered an easy source of iron. Worth a conversation with your surgeon & the experience of their previous patients & whether it will be a permanent issue for you

Tink22-sleeve got a reaction from fed-up in Low On Iron
Hi fed- up. So sorry to hear about your situation.
To answer your questions- I had one and then the 2nd infusion about a week later. No not painful at all- just an IV poke. The first infusion took an hour and a half- just to watch for side effects. The second infusion was about 20 minutes. No major Side effects. Kinda tired the day after. The infusion felt a little cold going in. Perhaps a little achy in the bones the night after the infusion- but all mild and transient.
However there are major adverse effects risks like low phosphorus in the blood that could lead to increase in fractures and other yucky stuff. By the way - The name of the medication was Injectafer.
Hope this helps you out.
Sincerely,
tink

Hi Tink , thanks a lot .I do have questions about infusions .How often do we have to have them ? Are they painful ? how long does each infusion take ? She said there was sometimes side effects - did you getting apart from what you said ?
The NHS may or may not let me have an infusion/s , I don't know what the criteria is for it .The dietitian says it's nothing to do with them as it's not included in the private op I had .Sorry ,I meant to put in my post above - that my doc said there was NO Iron supplement she could give me that I hadn't tried .
thanks everyone .

Have you tried popsicles? Give it a shot. Helps with the need for chewing and helps get your fluids in.

Some ideas for getting in liquids that really helped me:
Ice chips- Sonic has the best ice chips for chewing. Remember that a 44 oz cup of ice equals to 22 ounces of Water.
Popsicles- So nice to enjoy the chewing of the popsicle. Very satisfying. You'll be wanting more.
Hope these tricks help.

Today I had an unexpected and surprisingly satisfying NSV. I noticed that my belly button shrank. It's about 50% shallower than it used to be! Who knew I would be so pleased about less depth to my belly button? 😆
