Bypass revision after sleeve? 8 years post op Sleeve
Tink22-sleeve replied to Tink22-sleeve's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks so much for your comments...they are so appreciated. I have made an appointment to be seen by a Bariatric Doc here in Vancouver, WA. I have to wait a month to be seen, but that doesn't seem to long away. I will need to wrap my brain around possible surgery. Ugh. -
Bypass revision after sleeve? 8 years post op Sleeve
Tink22-sleeve posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi All, I am about 8 years out from a sleeve. Overall, happy. But often in the middle of the night I wake up, literally chocking on acid from GERD that developed immediately after the sleeve surgery. I am looking to talk to people who have had a sleeve and then converted to bypass. Would you please share with me: 1) Your reasons for conversion from the sleeve to bypass. 2) What was the post op period like compared with sleeve? 3) What is the best and worst part of having the bypass? 4) Any dumping issues? Thanks so much! -

Sleeve revisions
Tink22-sleeve replied to Chelsea0604's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'd sure love to know the answer to that myself. The sleeve was laparoscopic, so I had a LOT of referred shoulder pain. Is the RNY laparoscopic with a few small incisions, or is a larger incision than the sleeve incision(s)? -
heart attack?
Tink22-sleeve replied to liveaboard15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, this is really a wake up call to many of us, liveaboard15! I am an RN and a nursing instructor. Women really do experience heart attacks differently than men. Please check out this 3 minute video called "Just a little heart attack." A true story. Glad you are OK! Tink22 -
Bypass revision after sleeve? 8 years post op Sleeve
Tink22-sleeve replied to Tink22-sleeve's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you Greentealael and Tuffla for you responses. I so appreciate it. I have been trying to tolerate the discomfort after eating anything and the GERD for years now. I didn't have insurance for quite awhile, but now that I do I will make an appointment with a bariatric surgeon this afternoon to get checked out. Thank you again! -
Awesome Chris77 Thank you for your update. Super great work on that weight loss!

Sleeve or Bypass? Confused
Tink22-sleeve replied to GinSunflowers's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi GinSunFLoweres. I never had GERD until AFTER I had the sleeve. Thinking of converting to bypass. -
That is awesome to hear catwoman7! It feels pretty good to be content, huh? Blessings to you!
-
Great job on that weight loss! That's doing it the hard way.
-
Ill bet. I go back to logging every now and then. Why did you decide to revise? I am thinking about it for nasty GERD.
-
Oh that is awesome! I wish you all the best! I will be on the lookout for your posts!
-
Oh interesting! Other than GERD, where there other reasons for the revision? I'd like to consider that myself. When are you scheduled?
-
I have been doing pretty well, overall. Life goes on after surgery for sure. But, I have been blessed. Really my only complaint about the sleeve is that I developed awful GERD immediately after surgery, so I am dependent on Prilosec twice a day. I suppose a revision to bypass would solve that problem.
-
Oh wow, it's been over 9 years since surgery. GERD came with the sleeve, unfortunately, so I am on prilosec for life , it appears.

Hi! I am about 7 years out. What kind of protein are you going to try? I lost all my weight , but gained about 25# back over Covid Years. I could use a kickstart. I live in the Pacific NW, so it's cold and rainy. Looking forward to Daylight savings time and spring so I can get out more. How are you all today?

Alcohol, addiction and weight regain
Tink22-sleeve replied to cmbtexas's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey cmbtexas! Good to hear from someone from the "good old days" with the chat room. It made me sad to hear about your struggle with the bottle and depression. I must say- I've had similar experiences. Wish we could chat more about it. I've managed to keep off all the weight I lost (100#). I've also managed to lose another 180# (LOL- got rid of the husband). But I picked up the bottle (again). Self-medicating? So, I went back to Alcoholics Anonymous. They have been the answer for me. I enjoy the meetings, the structure, and especially the people. A place to belong. Well wishes my friend!! -
Anyone here from New Mexico? I live in albuquerque. Love to hear from you!
