OK so i need to vent a bit about the receptionist at my surgeons office. I have copied and will paste from another thread about what happened this week at the surgeons office. then when I had to cancel my appointment as I was ill and was told I should not come in, the next day when there are no patients in the office, my husband and I went in to weigh. I received a phone call later that afternoon to call the surgeons office. I thought maybe there was a problem with my bill even though I am paying on it several times a month, she answers the phone says 'I am on the phone with an insurance company, I will call you back.' an hour later no call back and I am napping before going to work so I ask hubby to call, he then gets an earful about how dare we come in to the office (pubic large hospital run building mind you) and weigh I possibly make her and the nurse ill. Don't we know that they have plans for the holidays and one of them has a new grandchild. wait just a minute...what are you....a doctors office. I was not contagious, but had a coughing attack when leaving after being there less than 5 min. so now I am to blame for either of them getting sick....that is of course if they get sick... not the people that come in and are not aware that they are ill (local support group had a get together Friday and one of them was ill but did not know until later in the weekend and did not tell anyone until Tuesday. 2 from that group went to the docs office on Tuesday) or all the people that she is in contact with outside of work nope me and hubby are the ones that will have made her sick. (hubby has a sinus infection btw) this lady has never liked us that well and will holler out that 'the Hillebrants' are here' to the nurse when we are only half way to her desk her tone is not professional or friendly while doing so. I work in the public a very busy merchant franchise this time of year and am around hundreds to close to thousand of people a day. I am allowed to work because even though I do have a coughing fit and had laryngitis this weekend, I was not contagious. The days that I was was Wednesday that I missed work and then Thurs the day that I had off. Sorry just had to vent. I believe he has told me before that she is from a temp agency, maybe they should increase her training in Human Relations. By the Way Happy Holidays to everyone on lbtalk. and if you get sick this weekend think of me and know that it was little ol' me (well bid ol') that got you sick and for that I do apologize. :rain:

My appointment was canceled on Monday as I still had laryngitis, nurse said he would not want me to come in and would not do a fill in her opinion. I went in Wednesday when I was better for a weight is all. not there for more than 5 minutes. the problem was and is that I had a coughing spell while there. I had been told on Saturday that the cough would last for a long time but it was not because I was sick just that with what has been going around, they have noticed the cough lingering. I have had problems in the past with lingering coughs. If I were to stay away from public places because of a stinking cough I would been a recluse half of the year. Hope this explains it better Wasa, I wasn't still sick appointment for Tuesday canceled Monday for Laryngitis. As for contagious wasn't, the clinic doc wanted me off work to rest voice and able to return Monday to work. All this over Laryngitis.

Well this morning I got a nice surprise.... I fit into a size 16. I knew the 18 were getting loose and had to keep pulling them up but was not sure if I could get into a 16. well a friend that has had the surgery a year ago passed me a bunch of clothes and in it were a couple of size 16 pants. So being curious I tries them on, little snug across apron area but not on my waist. I tried them on at about 2am, my hubby was so excoted he went and got one of my presents out. slacks and a skirt he thought both were 16 but only the skirt was but that is ok he has been watching and before I told him things were getting loose again he noticed. I love him.. now if things would start moving better for him too it would be great.(he was banded in Sept) Well Merry Christmas and happy New Year everyone

I haven't got to talk to him yet, he is out of the office Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I will not get to see him until the 3rd thou I need a fill but with me being 'sick' and Christmas I am not sure if they have room for me next Thursday. but needless to say he will get an earful.

What do you love about your band surgeon and their practice? Personable and willing to go over things even though at times it seems rushed What do you hate? (hubby has a sinus infection btw) what patient relations with the receptionist simply put not there What do we do well? they to get us in when we need a fill before our scheduled date What could we do better? teach receptionist basic human relations What more could we do to help you succeed? explain more on how you want things such as hubby has aa hard time with serving size, I try to get my Protein in and then get told no cheese yet cheese is approved protein and use low fat explain this from the start also let people know they should not feel a failure while waiting for restriction How could we improve your customer experience with our practices? I get hungry so I just take a snack. I have taken a Water bottle with me since the first Sunday after banding and now I just take along a snack. because you can hear my stomach if I don't, it gets loud. now my husband choses not to take a snack, just waits it out then is over hungry by the time we get home. (block is 11-2 until the first of the year then 1-4) good luck and welcome all

every doctor is different. My husbands' and mine said after one week we were allowed 100+ lbs on lifting. there for I would ask your doc as he/she is the only one that can tell you what they want you to do. good luck.

went in today for a fill as I am hungry all the time now. the surgeon did not give me a fill the last 2 times first time because I had lost 12 lbs in a month and the next (2 weeks ago) because of reflux the reflux ended up being caused by the large un crushable pills I had to take and am now off of, one of which surgeon wishes I were still on (metiformin). He commented on the fact that I am his only patient with the APS band with so little fill and had continued to lose weight, 34 since banded 20 before. I now have 2 cc in my 10cc band with instructions to come back in a month if not sooner if still feeling hungry. got the impression that he expects to see me back. we will see how this fill goes

Salsa that is exciting and thanks Nana I just about did faint when I went to just try them to see how close I was to fitting in them and the fit great and now I can buy more (but just a couple as I don't want to spend money on lots of clothes that I will only wear a few months) thanks for the support and you are doing great too

next nsv......I fit in a size 18. I am now able to buy clothes that are not plus sized. bought a skirt and shirt last night for church today and they fit the top is even loose. =) forgot to mention started in a size 6/28 bottom and 24/26 top

just a question....why are you grinding metiformimin it is time released and you are not supposed to cut, chew, or crush it. this was the instructions from the doctor and pharmacist. because of this I was always afraid to take them and when I did start taking them regularly reflux started. but as my A1C's are good I have been taken off meds and reflux is gone.

I think it is doable and I am planning at having lost 100 by 8/20/08 one year bandiversary. we can do it

I get the gummi vitamins and take 4 a day (child's dose is 2 a day double for an adult) does not taste like vitamin and is fruit flavored. I get the Wal*Mart brand. as for the calcium, I found one at the vitamin shoppe that is citrus flavored. can't remember the name right now but if you go in to a store and ask for their calcium citrate chew ables , they can direct you to them. you have to take several a day to get the recommended dose. I am looking for one that is petite and not chew able as it is too chalky for me. and the liquids are not for me at all. good luck ask your surgeon and nutritionist what they suggest, they can be a big help. Mine insists on calcium citrate where others just say calcium.

first fill was at 6 weeks then I see the surgeon every 4 weeks to evaluate whether or not I need one. I did not need one at the end of Oct as I had lost 12 lbs in the 4 weeks from my first fill. I see the surgeon this tuesday 3 weeks later (he is gone next week) to see if I will get one. I have not lost weight this time but I have lost 2 pant sizes. I was in a 22 at the beginning of October and today at fit in a size 18. so we will see how it goes on tuesday. it depends on your surgeon on how aggressive he/she is with fills. my husband was able to eat more than he should so he went in a week early for his 2nd fill. good luck

I was able the other day to eat the ones you like (I like them too, no I love them) the only problem was the nori. was afraid to eat that ate some but not most. I am able to eat most things. the only problems so far (3 months post surgery) is most white over processed rice. sushi rice was fine. good luck each person is different.

I have been diagnosed with pcos also but the doc waited from July last year to march this year to tell me. after the ultrasound last year he was like 'you have a cyst on the ovary and a fibroid in the uterus' nothing else was mentioned until i mentioned that hubby and I wanted to have another baby and he says 'oh, then we had better get the pcos under control that is what is messing up your cycles' that and the pre diabetes and said the weight gain was causing both problems. so I went on metiformin. went from 292 in march to 278 in July for pre op and am now down to 228. my question is, does one cysts mean pcos? from what I have read it does not. but maybe I am wrong.
