I wonder if your age has to do with the mammogram and colonoscopy. I did not have them and know others that went to Anderson that did not have them. with Cahn we had to have all required procedures done before we saw him. went to initial weigh in appointment, was given to diet that he follows the slim fast Protein shake and veggies. given the amount of weight to lose and to start the diet 3weeks before surgery. on the way out we scheduled surgery tentatively, until insurance approval. no mention of extra tests. that shows how each surgeon is different good luck you will do fine

I was banded here in good ol Boise Idaho and yes they require 10% of body weight lost before surgery. My husbands surgery got rescheduled as he had not met the goal. I lost 20 of the 25 he wanted me to lose by day of surgery. (15 the day of pre op visit) he went ahead and did the surgery. the diet I was on was 8oz ff milk with 2 scoops protein powder, 3 slim fasts a day, and all the veggies I wanted, no sauces. my surgeon used to use the cottage cheese and tuna diet but moved to the one I had a while back. three weeks of that is horrid but I did it. my husband did 6 weeks. good luck and where are you located and who is doing the surgery?

raw spinach gives me problems, it doesn't chew up well. I had one spinach salad and decided then and there to stick with crunchy lettuce like romaine. good luck -

girls only please...regarding TOM
gweniper replied to bandster_1007's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I hate the water gain during TOM and very month it is around that time that I see the surgeon, either right before or right after and over course water weight is there. HE, the surgeon, wont take TOM in to consideration when you are weighed. I am hoping one of these times I will visit when not having retained water. -
This just shows how different all surgeons are. my husband and I were cleared to lift 100lbs after 7 days and any exercise. The trainer at the gym, that we joined, 2 months after my surgery was hesitant about giving my ab workouts, so I had to recheck with the surgeon. yep they said cleared after 7 days, do what you are comfortable doing. My advice talk to your own surgeon as each one differs.

girls only please...regarding TOM

I would go to the doctor and have them do a blood test for pregnancy. false positives are not common and if you have only had one cycle that lasted 4 hours that could be implantation bleeding. but then again it could be just the shock of your body going thru surgery. I have had no change or minimal at best on my cycles, once a month my visitor comes. I would really seriously look at making an appointment with my pcp at this point. IMHO -
Do you think there is discrimination against obese people?
gweniper replied to milton5a's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was pregnant and obese, took a girl that I took care of with me out to breakfast, this young lady is pretty disabled, age 15 at the time with mentality of a 18 month to 2 yr old. my pre-pregnancy weight was 272 lbs, size 24. I was 5 or 6 months pregnant and so was getting larger. (only gained 29 lbs over the whole pregnancy and most of that was in months 8 and 9). We were seated and brought drinks. then started the half hour of waiting for our order to be taken. I watched 3-5 more tables be sat and all the orders taken. Finally I got up, when asked what was up by one of the staff I said I was tried of waiting while others that were seated ofter me ordered and were served their meals. I went to the register, the manager was there. the only thing he was going to do is give me our drinks for free. I paid for them as I did not feel that I should condone their discrimination by accepting their non-apology of a free drink. never went back to the restaurant until I moved to a new city. -
Roberta nicely said I happen to agree I have no thyroid problem but the tone and gist of the op is don't have the surgery. Well in 5 months I have lost 60 lbs, 20 pre-op and 40 post op. You have to do the work, the band is just a tool to help you while you are ding the work.

I was called as an assistant nursery leader just before Thanksgiving, so when I read the note about Joseph Smith I had to ask my hubby if that is the book this year, yep I am just out of the circle being with the kids but I enjoy them. Teach them about Jesus and Joseph Smith will be fun. I get to teach 'Heavenly Father has a body' next week.

what are you craving on that baked potato???? I don't believe in depriving myself of what I am craving, because latter I will gorge myself on it. so I, myself, would fix a small potato, use ff sour cream or ranch, low fat cheese, and salsa, on it. that is just IMHO though.

Good luck with you goals. my next one is to be 192 by March 8. !00 pounds lighter than last march when they started me on metaformin for pcos and pre-diabetes -
