MAJOR SET BACK... I went for my pre-admin testing on Monday, surgery scheduled for 2/24/14, because it was discovered that I have walking pneumonia (in a nut shell I was jumping through hoops all day and night because there were thoughts of something more serious) So here it is now Wed. and I think I have come to the resolution that there must have been a reason that I was not to be a Feb 2014 sleever. But I have not given up hope that one day I will be healthy, I have been tentatively set for mid April. I want to thank you all for the support and wish you all a successful journey my mantra is "I may not be where I want to be, but I'm closer today than yesterday" . Thanks for all the support! Rosemary

Congratulations You look wonderful! Where did you find your dress, it so pretty!!! -
Hi Pepper 1382 Yes we do have the same date, can't believe it's just a bit over 2 mos. and our big day to getting small will be here. I for one feel that that that couple of months have blown by. Granted there have been quite a bit of hoopes to jump through and being overweight isn't easy, lol (I actually mean medical appointments and nutriction classes). I know I am ready to get healthy and being smaller won't be bad either. I want to wish you all the best in your journey and keep in touch Rosemary

Hi from South Jersey, I just received my Nutribullet today and wanted to give it a whirl. I make my 1st green smoothie. OMG I was amazed how good it was and it was only 2 ingredients: Spinach and Strawberries (must of been thinking Christmas ) I added Water and 2 splenda to it and let it rip. I will admit it's not the prettiest drink I have ever had, but one of the tastiest by far, even my hubby enjoyed the taste. If anyone is willing to share their smoothie receipes I would love to give them a whirl. I am pre-op and my surgery is tentative for Feb 2014. I am looking foward to my new lifestyle (journey). I have been reading and researching as much as possible be for the big (or should that be small) day. Any advise would be greatly appreciated, would like to hear your comments. Rosemary

Which Blender Do You Have?
rpcamper replied to gastricsleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After reading your comments JewlJ and Covatila84 AKA: Feb. 2014 sleevers, me too...(2/24/14). I was checking out the topic, cause I thought it would be a good idea to see what blenders/sticks that are out there that would be better than what I have on hand especially when it comes to the soft food part. So I compared the Nutibullet vs. the Magic Bullet. after doing the reseach and reading the pro and cons I decided to go ahead and purchase the Nutribullet. I was able to pick up the 600 watt model at Kohl's on a pre black friday sale plus 30% off, plus got $15 kohl's cash. Final price $85. I can not tell you yet how it is because I only ordered it a couple of days ago. I am hoping I choose wisely. BTW I found a Feb 2014 sleeve forum http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/289491-any-february-2014-sleevers/?view=findpost&p=3260111&hl=%2Bfebruary+%2B2014 check it out Rpcamper aka Rosemary -

Hi all and Happy Thanksgiving, I am from So. Jersey too. I have Dr Kakilaya as my surgeon and I really like him alot, he is very versed in VSG. I have a scheduled date of Feb 24, 2014. I met with him in Sept. to get a feel prior to going to a seminar. I attended Dr. Goldstein's seminar approx. 5 or 6 yrs ago. I don't think I was ready then, f you are wondering why I didn't stay with him. My PCP has been telling me about Dr K. for a few years and I really trust my PCP so I met with Dr K, It's been already a journey researching and nutrition classes, seminar and support group and I know it's just the beginning, I wish everyone a sucessful journey to a thinner and healthier South Jersey

Honey g, You are soooo right, Feb will be here in no time. My doctor is Dr H. Kikkalaya, he is out of Memorial Hospital Salem NJ. I found this awesome blog and youtube series called 7 bites it's a Mother-Daughter that have both had the VSG and they wanted to help those that are either thinking about or going to have the VSG with ways to go from liquid to soft to regular foods and how to make it better. the address to check it out http://7bitesshow.blogspot.com/2013/10/episode-1-preventing-yuck-in-cup.html I have found the more I read and research the more questions I keep coming up with, how about you? Is your family being supportive of your journey? I have read that there are pre-op sleevers that are mourning that tommorow is thier last Thanksgiving. I don't feel that way at all. I am looking forward to coming up with a healthier holiday. Have a Happy Thanksgiving Rosemary

Hi Honey g, I'm scheduled for Feb.24 th. You're the first person I've heard that's scheduled in 2014. Who is your surgeon and which procedure are you having? I'm going with the VSG.
-
Hi all, I am new here I am from Southern Jersey, Glassboro area. I am pre-op still going through the evals and nutriction classes, although I am over 1/2 way thru all that and my tentative date end of Feb. 2014.
-
Hi Everyone I am new here. I am Pre-Op and I started my journey just about 2 mos ago. I went to see my PCP and told him I have had enough and that I wanted to meet to the Surgeon he had been telling me about for the last 2 yrs. Within less than 3 weeks I was meeting with the surgeon and his clinical staff. I had done a lot of research on the VSG the internet and had read the book "Everything Post Weight Loss Surgery". Side not alot of good information, I am now reading "The Big Book on Gastric Sleeve" ... Everything you need to know to lose weight and live well with the VSG. It contains information for making the descission, pre-op, post-op and even receipes. I have completed about 50% of my surgeon and insurance's requirements. I feel every time I come out of a nutrition class or seminar I find something new, even if it's just a little bit of information I didn't have previously, I want to wish everyone a successful journey to a healthy new you. I really am looking forward to the day can do something I haven't been able to do in 30+ years, (ie, go on a roller coaster, horse back ride and most of all fly on a plane and not feel embarasses that my butt doesn't fit in the seat and that I had to ask for an extention for the seat belt) and most of all taking a walk without becoming short of breath. Well now that I have chewed off your ears, I will bid you a good evening and hope to talk to you soon,
