Should I stay in the hospital overnight?

I agree, stay the night and let the nurses check up on you and have the fluids that you need from the IV. I was very happy to have stayed over night, but was ready to head home later the next day. Good luck!

    Fourth Fill and Counting

I was banded on April 21st and have been very frustrated with the weight lost going up and down since. I lost a total of 12 lbs since surgery, but I'm having a hard time keeping it off. I go in on June 10th for my first fill and have been told by my dr that I'll be getting only 1cc in my 8cc band. I feel like I need my restriction so I can continue to lose weight and I'm worried that 1cc won't be enough......but then again I have had a few issues with eating to fast or certain food items (chicken breast) getting a little stuck:crying:, so I'm worried what it may be like after I get my 1cc fill.....maybe I'm trying to rush this to much and should be happy with the 1cc for now. Well, I guess I'll know by Tuesday, but then again some say that you may not feel the restriction for a couple weeks after the fill. Reading all of what you guys experience really helps.....thanks so much for all of you who write on this website, it really helps all of us who are in the dark and have so many questions and concerns.

    My before and after

Ronwifey, Thamks so much for ansewring my questions, I'm feeling myself getting discouraged and in fact I got on the scale this morning and I have gained 4 lbs.....what the heck!!! I do feel like I'm going to start my period so maybe it's Water gain. I hadn't had one in 8 mos and then after surgery I started. Iwill take your advice tho and just the 1cc and try to be patient, it's just hard when you want to see more results after going through everything I did to get this far. I'll let you know how I feel after June 10th when I get my first fill....hopefully restricted. I need that help, isn't that why I got the band.

    1st Lap Band Fill

I had surgery on April 21st and I am not having any restriction at this point, I can eat normal portions of food, just like was before surgery. I go in for my first fill on June 10th, but am discouraged because my dr already told me that he'll be giving me only 1cc in my 8cc band. I feel I need more than that to get a better restriction. Maybe I can talk him into more.

    My before and after

I'm curious as to what size band you have and how many fills you had, oh and how much of a fill if any? I have a 8cc band and go in for my first fill on June 10th. My dr says he'll be giving me only 1cc. I don't feel that will be enough! I am not feeling any restriction at this point and I've had my band since April 21st and have only lost about 12lbs. I can eat anything! Please tell me this is going to get better.

    Port Site Bulge??

I was banded on April 21st and I too noticed a slight bump on my left side where my port was, but as of now I don't see the slight bump any more just the hardest (like a rock ) just under the skin. It's kinda weird to feel that there, but have no soreness at all. I've been wondering if I'll always be able to feel that bump? Can anybody tell me how to update my ticker?

    Is this normal?

I go in on June 10th for my first fill. After asking my doctor how much of a fill he'd be giving me, he told me just 1cc.....I was hoping for more, as I have read else where on threads that they get 3cc on their first fills. I'm a bit jealous! But then again maybe not, as I don't want to much restriction to quickly. Hey everybody, is this normal for a 8cc band to get only 1cc on my first fill? Just wanting to lose more weight than I have so far......it's been a slow process. Had surgery on April 21st and have only lost 12 lbs so far.:crying: Oh yeah....how do I edit my ticker to change the weight loss???
  9. iluvlongnecks

    Can't stop eating!

Are you having more restriction now that you've had your first fill. I too can eat anything as long as I chew it well.....I get my first fill on June 10th and I'm hoping that I'll be more restricted. Is this mormal guys?
  10. iluvlongnecks

    7 holes??

Had surgery on 4/21 and have only 5 holes. My port area was the only sore spot that I had and is just now feeling much better.

    Day 4 doing worse...

I'm post op day 6 also and I feel that I'm doing really good. Had to quit the pain meds after day 3 because I didn't like the way they were making me feel. Just stuck to Tylenol instead. I've noticed this evening that Im really sore in my port area, but I think that's because I was doing alot of sitting up today and moving around more. I think it may even be alittle more swollen, but I can't be for sure, it's just kinda uncomfortable to sit right now. Is it normal for the port to be sore off and on like this?:confused2:

Is this site moving really slow for you too?

I've noticed it moving slow also
  13. I had my surgery on Monday and was able to start on my liquids on Tuesday just before going home. The gas has gotten really bad and my stomach sounds alien like:crying:. Is this normal? I thought once I ate some creamy soups and jello it would get better but it hasn't. Do I need to be concerned?

Whats up with all the gas!!

The Gas-X does help also. I got some yesterday and have taken it to get rid of some of the gas. I'm also feeling pressure on my shoulders from what I'm guessing is from the gas. I went to my pc doctor today for a check up and I checked out okay! Now to just get through this 2 wks of post op diet.....don't get me wrong it hasn't been to bad, but I have another 11 days of this...YIKS! My energy level is down too! I have not taken anymore of the pain meds due to me not feeling very well yesterday and I've been alot better today. My doctor suggested that I just take Tylenol if I need anything for pain. I just can't wait to start seeing some real results from all this effort that I have done to get this far. I'm sure you all feel the same way, but as you can see from those who post on these threads we will soon enough.

    Incisions

I had my surgery on 4/21 also, but my instructions were to remove the outside dressings as soon as I got home and to leave the steri-strips on till post op day 2. I think we all have different instructions from our doctors so your going to get different advice. If unclear call your doctor and ask.

    Surgery tomorrow AM!!!

Congrats JennyLynn!!!! You made me feel alittle better about having my surgery on Monday.....I hope mine is just a piece of cake. I don't think they'll let me go home on the same day tho, they told me that they'd keep me till the next morning. Husband is going to stay in our motor home since surgery is in South SF and we live in Sacramento. Keep all of us up-dated on your progress!!
  18. I am being banded through Kaiser in SF on Monday. They did ask me what my choice was for surgery and I went into this wanting the Lap Band. It's a long process to get all your appointments, but if you want it bad enough you do what is required. I have a wonderful, supportive husband that has driven me from Sacramento to South SF for each and all of my appointments....and believe me there was a lot of appointments. I am now finally having my surgery on Monday and am ready to get started on my journey to being a thinner me. Kaiser is pretty strict, but I kinda liked that because they sent a message that it's a life time change and you need to be mentally ready to follow their guide lines. I researched about the Lap Band for almost a year and loved it when I found this site as they can answer alot of your questions that you may have. Just reading what others have posted is very informative. Good luck in getting started if you decide to do so. I'm hoping I have no regrets in my decision in becomeing a bandster, but I don't think I will, this forum has convinced me of that.

    Surgery tomorrow AM!!!

i to would like to lose about 80lbs or even maybe a little more, but I'd be happy with 80lbs. I have sever sleep apnea and that's the only reason my insurance is covering it. I know that it would have been just a matter of time tho that I'd start having much more health issues. Since I've been doing all the walking that I've been doing, I am now having problems with my hip area and knees. I hope that all will improve after I get some of this weight off. I'm so looking forward to buying small clothing....like some of those really cute shirts that I see in the barbie size. Good luck and let me know how your doing after surgery and I'll do the same!

    Surgery tomorrow AM!!!

Abby....WOW! you got to go home the same day? I'm having my surgery in San Francisco on Monday and I was told that they'll keep me over night. I guess it may depend on insurance. Were you a self pay?

    Surgery tomorrow AM!!!

I'm having my surgery on Monday, April 21st and I too am a little nervous , but excited also. I started this whole process back in August and have been jumpping through all the hoops that they have required me to get this far.....but it's finally happening and like you, I hope I will as happy as the others are on these boards I want to be a success story and look as good as they do.

    Hello, My name is Francine...

Hi Francine, I'm having my surgery on Monday, April 21st:thumbup: I started this whole process back in August, but had researched the Lap Band for over a year before making the decision to go for it. It's been a long process to get there, but I'm finally having it done in 4 days. I can't believe it!! I didn't have to do the liguid diet, but they had me do a pre-op diet to lose 20lbs.....they told me that at my orientation back in Sept. and it's been hard to keep those 20lbs off with all the holidays and vacations. I have done diets in the past, only to get stuck at 20- 25lbs lost and then gain back more. You can do this....just look at it as only 2 weeks!! then you'll be on your way to losing so much more. Good luck and soon you will be on your way to being thinner and healthier.

    counting hours

It won't be long and I too will be counting the hours to having my surgery on April 21st. I started this whole process in August and have had to jump thru hoops to get this far. I'm a bit nevous about the surgery, but excited about finally getting on the road to getting healthier. I found this web site when researching about the Lap Band and I have to say that all of you have been so great. I have been able to get on here and answer any questions that I may have had just by reading what all of you have written. I just want to be as happy as all of you are with your decision to get the Lap Band. So if I have any concerns or need some suggestions you will be hearing from okay!!!

    A little discouraged...

I started my whole process in Sept. 07 with my orientation and was told that I wouldn't get my next appt. till 16 wks out and had to lose 20 lbs, it turned out to be like 20 wks. and then the ball has been rolling since with appt after appt, having to drive from Sacramento to San Franisco for each one. I said from the beginning that I'd jump thru hoops to get this band and I now have a surgery date of April 21st. It's frustrating like everyone tells you, but in the end it'll be worth it. I still have 2 more trips to SF before my surgery date, but I have a wonderful supportive husband that drives down there each time I have to go, which helps! Good luck with starting your journey!!!
