Hi. I had surgery in Israel 2 3/4 years ago. Reached goal weight after 6 months (lost 43 kg). Glad to join the group!

Hi. This is my first post on this group. I was wondering if anyone has developed HYPERthyroid issues POST-surgery? I am 3 months out. Very early after surgery, in routine blood tests, it was discovered. Pre-surgery, thyroid was normal. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone with this problem and what was done about it, if anything. I am told that it is helping me lose weight faster (thyroid overworking) but this is really not desirable. Thx.

Hi there, I had bypass surgery on May 7th, 2014. Went to my women visit and bloodwork showed I also have hyperthyroidism. I have never had a thyroid problem & my doc also said it's not related. I have not gone to endocrinologist yet, cause I just found out today. Can you tell me what happened to you after this post? Thank you! Hi. You asked what has happened in the interrum. It was found that I also have multi-goiter toxic nodes and I am not absorbing iodine on one side of the thyroid. Apparently the dominant side is suppressing the iodine absorption on the "weak" side. Anyway, the dr. hasn't treated me yet. She wants to see what happens to the goiter (not anything visible on the outside and I don't even feel it) after 3 months. I'll have an ultrasound in 10 days. In the meantime, I did another series of blood tests. Post-op now 8 months and down nearly 100 lbs. Blood work was great except that I'm still hyperthyroid. I was told that if the thyroid nodule has grown, I'll probably have to have surgery to remove it. Good luck on yours.

How do you feel about eating out after weight loss surgery?
Ladybug333 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't go out very often. Actually, since surgery 5 months ago, restaurants have not been much of an attraction at all. I don't think I am over the "well, if you're at a restaurant, eat the most fattening thing on the menu" mentality that I had before. It's stilllll too soon. Everything interesting is cooked in rich sauces or else it just seems boring...or too tempting and it's better not to be tempted. So that's why I stay away, if I have a choice. If I'm invited, I go, however, knowing that most times, I can take the leftovers home in a doggie bag. -
Ok, the hair thing again
Ladybug333 replied to mentalistfan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately, I am not passed it yet. I was sleeved 4 1/2 months ago and it started about 3 weeks ago. My hair is already thin. To be honest, I am concerned but I have seen YouTube clips on the subject and everyone assures their audience that the hair will grow back. That's the important thing. Keep a healthy, high protein diet and it will grow back. Good luck on your surgery. It's worth it. -
November buddies where are you?

Congratulations to all you LOSERS! Yes, we are all losers. It's been 3 1/2 months since my sleeve and I've lost 66 lbs! Tonight I went to my first gathering of friends who haven't seen me since pre-op. I hadn't told them of the surgery. It was fun to watch their expressions. I feel great, am off my former meds and don't regret it for a minute. I want to say here that my sister was my initial inspiration. She had gastric bypass, and while I didn't want my insides rearranged and so chose the sleeve instead, she served as a model and encouraged me all the way. I wish everyone could have as supportive a family as I have had on this journey. -
The endocrinologist insists that WLS and my thyroid problem are unrelated. I'm still doing tests to see exactly where the problem is.

Intractable and severe Pain in the Feet ?
Ladybug333 replied to Truth&Gutz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started getting cramps at the bottoms of my feet ONLY at night about 2 weeks post-surgery. The only way to "uncramp" them is to get out of bed and walk around. It happens several times in the course of the night. My blood tests came back OK. My dr. told me to take 2 magnesium pills and eat a banana before bed. It doesn't help a bit. Any ideas? -
Glad to see someone else from Israel. I had Sleeve surgery in Jerusalem on 26 Nov., 2013. And you?

November buddies where are you?

Hi. I was sleeved on Nov. 26 and have lost 26 lbs so far (including pre-op diet). I also stalled from about day 9-14 post-op. Don't know why. I've been careful to follow dietician's directions. Since about Day 14, I started losing again, but only like 1/2 lb./day. Yes, very frustrating. I am trying to get the exercise in and the fluids. Maybe that's my problem. I've been off work for 3 weeks. When will I have the time (with 2 nearly full time jobs) to do exercise?? Anyone else so busy they don't have time for exercise? Anyway, seems to be a common thing to stall at 2 weeks. Weird. All the Youtube clips I saw pre-op said that the pounds just melt away. Testimonies here say otherwise.... -
