    Mexico Vertical Sleeve

Thank you for moving it to the proper area. Yes, I'm aware that it is located in a strip mall. I've heard great things about it though. LOL. I've looked very hard into this. On this forum, on youtube, their online websites & through people I know locally that have been there. I may have been worried, but not anymore.
  4. Don't know where to to put this thread, so I decided to put it here. I just got off the phone with my surgeons office and they said that my insurance will be going through and we started talking surgery dates. Needless to say that was one of the moments I was looking forward too. We decided on the 23rd of this month and she is explaining to me all the lab work and hospital paper work and such. Then she explained to me about the fees that insurance doesn't cover. To be hones, I completely forgot about that. I've been just so focused with life I guess that I spaced the other fees. So sadly, I'll be postponing my surgery date till maybe early Feb. With a $5700 out of pocket co-pay my tax return will have to cover it. Even though I have to wait a couple more months MAX, I know that I will be having the procedure and that is a goal that is something to look forward too. Thanks for reading..... Please post if you'd like. I just wanted to share my info on a site with other people that understand the situation. -Dave

    Out Of Pocket Expenses.

Isn't it nice that they decide to tell us this after we jump through hoops. They know exactly what they are doing. If they were to tell people before hand, I bet their profits would drop.
  6. After my Psych Eval, the Dr. got me thinking about things that hadn't crossed my mind before. So I'm curious if anyone has an answer or two from your experience post-op. Has the Flavor of food improved or gotten worse. For example, Does Jello taste the same post op or no. Do the foods that you once enjoyed pre-op hold no flavor to you now post op or taste nasty. I know its an odd question to be asking, but I like to think this may be a question that other people haven't thought of and are wondering too.

Agreed, it is hard to complain. I just gotta keep my goals in sight and let time do its thing. I'm just glad that things are rolling in the right direction.

Tastes Of Food? Better Or Worse?

Thank you everyone for you insight. Very interesting reading everyones experiences.
  9. That sucks. I know its hard to feel better while reading these posts while going through pain, but on quote that makes it all the goals come into focus is: "you have to go through hell to get to heaven" Just try to rest and follow the Doctors orders and the nurses instructions. I worked in hospital with post-op bariatric patients before and one thing I've learned regarding pain is, once you feel something coming on, DON"T try to man up and not take any pain meds. Because by the time you give into the pain and demand meds, the pain may be to intense for the meds to do any good. I also recommend that if the nurse asks you if you want anything for pain, TAKE it, because he/she may be with another patient if you need the med later. hope this helps brother. Best wishes.

    Mexico

I know someone that went to Mexico for her Vertical Sleeve and she has had ZERO issues. She had to get a personal loan to finance it. I think it was around 6 thousand not including air travel and traveling expenses. hope this helps. Edit: the fees were 4,199 not including air fair.

They talked with me about a deposit and payment methods. Just at $6,000 expense is out of the blue. I just didn't think it would be that high to be honest. I'll be making a $1,000 on Friday or Monday from my Union Contract signing bonus, than smaller payments over the next month and plan on paying rest with tax return.
  12. One thing I've learned about online blogs is some statements care easily be taken out of context real quick. I try to not take offense too quick while reading online posts/blogs. But I always do say, "Consider the source". Meaning, think about the person you are getting your information from. Then make your opinion. food for thought.
  13. he mainly asked me about my family history, eating habits, how educated I was about the process and my support group. Mine only lasted for about an hour and some change, but I found his final thoughts interesting. I cam in scared that he would refuse to endorse my referral and then that was the end of my WLS journey. Someone I was projecting that thought and he came out and asked me if I was worried that he wouldn't endorse it. I though, WOW, didn't think he would know that. All and all, he said that he would endorse my procedure and recommend that BCBS approve me for WSL. He did ask to see me in one month as a follow up for other reasons that he feels would help me in the long run. I made an appointment and see him in Dec. I was like you, my psych appointment was the one think I was most worried about, but I feel much better. I believe that you will pass this hurdle and move onto the next like me. Best of Luck!!!
