Let's talk scabs and scars! Oooh! Aaah!
Branmuffin replied to Teachamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had several surgeries and the scars mostly fade and are unnoticeable. I do apply organic coconut oil to mine and I believe it helps my skin. -
DRY HEAVES HELP!
Branmuffin replied to Lovely London's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to say maybe you take Meds at night and wake up with them on empty stomach is making you sick? I get sick if I take Meds at night or before I eat either one. -
Me too!! Almost wish I had waited to watch it until the first season came out so I could watch it all!

DRY HEAVES HELP!
Branmuffin replied to Lovely London's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is there a chance you're pregnant? -
I'm almost 10 weeks post sleeve now and although I hadn't realized it until my husband commented on it, I no longer have issues with monstrous belches or gas. I can't even make myself burp like I previously could to alleviate the stomach gases. Anyone else have these results? I'm guessing its because I'm not scarfing down food and I'm also not eating much raw veggies yet.

Bypass or Sleeve?
Branmuffin replied to pupichupi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have two acquaintances who had the bypass. The first friends intestines twisted and fell into the "gap" where they had removed them from and she almost died. The second is in an induced coma right now because she hemmorhaged during the procedure. On the flip side I have 4 acquaintances who had the sleeve and the worst complaint was having gallbladder issues and acid reflux. I chose sleeve and am 10 weeks post surgery now and have lost from 237 to 190 with minimal acid indigestion. It's a huge decision whatever you choose and no matter what your choice, I wish you luck. -
Change for significant other for vending machine, Insurance card, Earplugs, Chapstick, phone, charger, slippers, makeup, deodorant. My hospital provided small tummy pillow. Leave at home: jewelry.

I'm definitely not complaining its just something new to get used to. At times it was a relief to burp and now the fact that I can't even make myself is just different. Lol no burping contests for me!

So funny! Two of my co-workers told me this week that if I lose much more I will "blow away"! I responded that I have 50 more to go and that I still weighed 193 and their mouths gape as if I'm lying! It's funny how different people react. I just try to be positive and act appreciative.

Which artificial sweetener do you prefer?
Branmuffin replied to Jen_Bach's topic in Food and Nutrition
Splenda or I have monk in the raw too. Sometimes I just use locally made honey though -
Would love a recipe for the marinade!

Lol tell her she's come over when you were "getting in the mood" and that to eliminate any embarrassment she needs to call before showing up.

Not doing good with foods!
Branmuffin replied to sweetjam69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im in my third month and still can't do scrambled eggs or egg whites. I can do fried eggs though so not sure what's up with that. There's an egg custard recipe on bariatriceating that was a staple for me early on. It sits well on the stomach and is easy to make in individual portions. I also ate cream of chicken soup, mash potatoes with processed chicken or turkey mixed in them, the broth from chicken noodle soup.. Keep trying different things. One week something won't work and two weeks later it will. -
I have Aetna and I had to do 6 consecutive months of dr visits with documented proof of weight and a dr prescribed weight loss plan, a nutritionist visit, a psych eval & my dr required a scope test down my throat to check for hernias etc before surgery as well as I asked for a gallbladder test.

Branmuffin replied to Kristen*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had 2 c-sections a partial hysterectomy and then my cervix taken out all pre-sleeve and my dr didn't have any problem performing the sleeve surgery from what he said. -
