Veterans-I have a question for your wonderful peeps!
Mustang2013 replied to KatieD6982's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I went with the Sleeve because I did not struggle with Reflux or indigestion. I also had less to lose than some and that is also a factor. I am now maintaining and still don't struggle with reflux. I have lost 94 pounds from my highest weight and am no longer on a CPAP machine. So it is very individual. I was up and down my whole life and was capable of losing the weight but unable to keep it off which is not good physically or emotionally. The sleeve was the boost I needed to keep it off. Life is good. -
December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
Mustang2013 replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Surgery Date 12/8/2013. Down 96 lbs. Weight 157 Goal 155. I would like to stay between 152 and 155 even if I just stay below 158 I'm happy. I'm 5'7" and in a size 8 life is great. I'm basically concentrating on exercising and toning. I also concentrate on protein first. I struggled when I was overweight and this surgery has given me freedom. I don't want my life to be about my weight. I could say I want to be at 140 lbs but really I want to celebrate all I've accomplished and live life to the fullest. I look amazing just as I am. I refuse to beat myself up over a number. Wherever my body feels happy that is where I will stay. Congratulations to everyone. What an accomplishment. -
Sleep apnea and sleeve surgery

Yes it is very important to have another test done to be sure the sleep apnea is gone. Not everyone's sleep apnea is weight related. -
Sleep apnea and sleeve surgery
Mustang2013 replied to Ramman313's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told many times to make sure to bring my CPAP machine for the surgery. It is very important with sleep apnea as you can stop breathing through the night many times depending on the severity of your sleep apnea condition and without it can be very dangerous. Especially after surgery. I am nine months out from surgery now and I haven't used my CPAP in four months as my sleep apnea was weight related. My Specialist sent me for testing just to be sure this condition is gone. I can't tell you how awesome it is not have to wear my CPAP every night. I am 3 pounds from goal and hopefully when you get to that point you won't have to wear yours either. Good luck. -
This is from a conversation I tried to get into on Vet Forum. I am 9 months out, but it did not allow me to ask the question. My question is How do I add friends. Do I do it through Facebook. It is asking me if I want to add through Facebook, email or contacts. But I only have everyone's user name. I would really like to get snack ideas and learn more through other VSG friends. I have been doing Fitness Pal since the beginning. I am now a couple pounds from goal. Let me know. Greatly appreciated. When am I a vet. It still states on my profile that I am a newbie.

December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
Mustang2013 replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you Mythgirl for your support. I have been in a stall for ten days but felt the need to have some caffeine. I am not too stressed about the stall; I take it as my body adjusting to my new sleeve and the fact that we are eating so much less. I am sure my body is in shock. I was able to lose 20 during the liquid diet and 11 since December 18 surgery date. So I am down 31 which is great. Every pound counts if I hadn't had the surgery I would be the same weight or more so the last thing I want to do is complain at this point. Thank you for responding you made my day. -

Hi I have a question. I am four weeks out. Am I allowed to have a tall skinny latte with one pump of vanilla. I guess the real question is can I have an ounce of espresso once a day. -
You must be so proud of yourself. You have inspired me. I was sleeved on December 18 so I am on my way as well.

December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
Mustang2013 replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi I had my surgery done on December 18 I am doing very well it's five days out now and I feel great. Day two and three were the hardest for me but that went by quickly. I think it had a little to do with the lady that was in my room with me. She was a year younger and was waiting on a Liver transplant it really got me thinking about life and health. Because I was weak and emotional I thought why did I do this and how come I could not do it on my own. And now I feel so blessed I feel like I have a new start - I feel wonderful and full of energy. Good luck to everyone. ???? -
Good luck to you. You will be right behind me on the 20th. Wow it is so exciting and scary all at the same time. I will post how I'm doing after surgery and look forward to hearing from you too.
-
If I can I will send you a message after my surgery.

Yes I guess whatever works. I think it's going to be hard going out for lunch with people that don't know - that'll be interesting. I haven't told anyone at work but some friends know. I'm usually somewhat of a hermit and need to be more honest with friends so I think this is a good way to start. I guess when everyone's gained weight after the holiday season you and I we will be down. Have to keep looking at all the positives.

It is tough I went to a dinner a few weeks ago and watched other people eat. Not fun. I am very excited for you. You are going to do awesome just take one day at a time knowing that it will get easier and easier. You have your whole life ahead of you. I turned 50 this year wish I had done it sooner but just grateful to have the opportunity now. I feel more like 38 though. Just remember how great you are and enjoy the journey. One day at a time.

I have been on shakes only for 30 days. Down 19 lbs. I can't wait to have chicken broth. Not sure why my surgeon is so strict for preop but surgery can't come quick enough. 3 more days. I am so ready. Not a lot of energy. Sleep a lot too.

Hi. Sounds good I am new at it as well. Not really sure how it all works. I am just trying to read everything I can and learn from everyone's experiences. I was supposed to have the surgery on the 11th but was bumped to the 18th. I am excited to start this journey.

Thank you I need support can't seem to find anyone from Canada and would love to keep in touch with you all. Wish I was in your area. My surgery is Wednesday I have been on a liquid diet and for the first time today I was thinking that I might really miss eating. Wondering if life might get boring. I've spent a lot of time eating when I'm happy, sad, stressed. I will find a replacement though. Maybe shopping. Haha.

No I am in Canada. British Columbia.

I'm having surgery on December 18th. I will be your buddie but I'm new at the whole chat thing. Not sure how it works but I have read everything about VSG and watched a lot of YouTube videos. I feel very ready for this surgery. Very excited.

How do I make my ticker show up like yours.
-
Thank you so much for the information. I am not going to weigh myself all the time. I will be happy in the fact that I am getting healthy. It is great that you and your husband are doing it together. Congratulations on your success so far.

My surgery is coming fast December 18 and I am excited. Just take one day at a time. You will do great. I have read so much about the procedure and watched so many you tube videos that I can't wait until it is finally here and I am recuperating. Tired of thinking about it 24-7. Let the adventure begin.

November buddies where are you?
Mustang2013 replied to soonerorlater's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have never chatted like this before so hopefully I am doing it right. Haha. Anyway I'm going to put my tree up next weekend I've never put it up that early but I want to make sure everythings done before my surgery in case I have complications which I won't. Day 1 of liquid diet and no coffee complete. Very excited but scary. Hopefully I don't starve.
