  1. Thanks. I did buy some Greek yogurts to try, I did get the Fage 0%, it seemed to be the highest rated. I will try that in a smoothie tomorrow and see if that helps.
  2. I use Myfitnesspal to track and report my food journal to my doctor. When I went for my 7 week check-up yesterday I was told that I am having too many carbs, not enough Protein and I shouldn't indulge in sugar free treats such as pudding and popsicles. She said that the taste of sweet items will keep my sugar addiction going and could eventually cause weight gain. She even offered putting me on Contrave to stop the addiction feeling. It is strange though because all my Protein shakes are sweet so what is the difference? I am eating for better health. not pleasure. so I need to break that habit. I am having a hard time with protein because post-op the taste of Protein drinks gag me. I have 7 different powder flavors and brands and they were all good prior to surgery. I am going to try to do a protein mug brownie to see if that will help. I have tried the clear liquid Protein drinks and they are also gross. I go to a local nutrition store and do tastings to see what I can switch, but that hasn’t helped either. Things sometimes taste good at first but then goes back to gross after a few times. I have updated my goals to match as close as I can to her recommendations. She suggested 600-800 calories, and 100-120 grams of protein. She was happy I lost fat, gained muscle and my hydration was up, but she just wasn't satisfied with what I am eating. The item she did point out was a baked potato. I know it is full of carbs but my husband stopped at Wendy's and that was the only thing I could have on the menu and I didn't think that would blow my month. I could only eat half of it, and ate the other half the next day. I'm not throwing in the towel by no means but I am aggravated because I don't think I am doing what I should be doing but I'm not sure how to correct it without just drinking protein shakes or eating Protein Bars. I may be putting too much thought and stress on myself to make this work. Sorry I feel like I am just blabbering and making no sense. For anyone that says having weight loss surgery is the easy way out, they have no clue. It takes dedication, determination, control, and much more to become a new healthy you. 3. Thank you and you are right I'm still trying to live a sugar high carb life. The potato and pudding were both during my soft phase. I lost 70 lbs on Atkins at one time, so I think I am reverting to that and of course I gained all that weight back plus around 50 extra. I'm just going to have to rethink what i am doing and try to stay away from the sweet things. I know I can do this, I have lost at least 1000 pounds in my life time, I just need to make it stick this time!
  4. If you have an obsession with weighing, don't get one yet. If you are okay I would also recommend the Fitbit. I wish I didn't have a scale when I hit a stall because I do obsess.
  5. I wish I would have bought different tasting things instead of a bunch of the same. My taste changed a lot the first two weeks and it was hard to eat everything I tried pre-pp. For example, I only liked orange Popsicles and that was my least favorite before, the same with jello.
  6. I'm not a doctor but it sounds like diverticulitis. I had a flare of that about my third week along with a UTI. The same antibiotic took care of both so I would see your doctor as soon as you can. My problem was I didn't know who to contact, my bariatric dr, my family dr or my surgeon. I ended up with my family dr.

    Fried Foods

I tasted some fried calamari that was a shared appetizer. All I felt was grease in my mouth after chewing it and swallowing it. I won't do it again.
  8. I did not have gastritis but the sense of smell will go away soon. I know I wanted to crawl into our microwave when my husband cooked something. As soon as I got off the clear liquid diet it got better. Now I don't even notice since I can eat. Good Luck!

    October sleevers

I would advise not to. I have drove myself crazy with the scales. Once I hit my first stall I would way up to 5 times a day. I'm on my second stall now and I'm about ready to ask my husband to hide it from me.

    October sleevers

I was sleeved 10/19 and found so my discrepancies between the bariatric center and the hospital. I feel like I'm on my own. Could you please add me to the group. Shariterry@hotmail.com
  11. My date is tomorrow the 19th in Florida! I'm not nervous for the actual surgery just for messing up after. Good luck everyone!!!
  12. My date is 10/19 and I am so ready since I have been working on this since 2013. I am not doing good on my pre-op diet because at the pre-op seminar with the surgeon he said that they found it doesn't matter if you do the diet or not. However, as I have been working with my Bariatric doctor that has always been the plan. My mind now has its own battle going on and the wrong side is winning.
  13. I have been on this roller-coaster since January 2015. I started out at our Bariatric Center and went through all the hoops and 6 months required by UHC. After my paperwork was submitted to the surgeon the first part of July then waiting for a month for them to submit my paperwork to UHC I was denied. WHY? I wrote a 5 page letter to my company HR department 18 months prior to get this added to our benefits plan. I contacted HR because UHC said that it was not a covered under my benefits. My HR department stated that it is and that I have to submit an appeal to the surgeon and then they have to resubmit all my paperwork again with the appeal to the appeals department. Here we are in September and I have fallen flat on my face with my dieting and have been eating sweets more than ever before in my life due to being so stressed out over my life crumbling down. Most of you know the excuses. But really I have some valid stresses. I contacted UHC and they told me to be patient with them. Me: "Be patient, you made a mistake and should have just changed me from denied to approved, I have a BMI over 50." I'm not proud, that is for sure. I weigh almost as much as I did after the birth of my first child and my twins put together! Then I did WW while pregnant with my youngest (that just moved 1,200 miles away for her first big girl job) this was so I didn't reach 200lbs because I would never do that. As you can tell I am a random writer and worst at it when talking. Now, I have kidney stones "or something" and it started the first week of August and I had been drinking and eating Protein shakes and bars a lot. I was actually doing what I was supposed to do. I have had bleeding, pain and infections, 5 antibiotics and a shot, my body itself feels better at the moment, but the cramping and spasms haven’t gone away. I have a CT and IVP done this week to see what is going on for sure. I am just worried that this will stop my surgery if it EVERY gets scheduled. I drink a lot of Water, at least a gallon a day, but even at the bariatric center I only show 32% hydrated. My blood pressure medication does include a diuretic. Anyone have some words of wisdom for this wannabe sleeved? @ShariAnn
  14. I am awaiting insurance approval and I take prednisone and will for life. I take 10mg every other day for a high EOS. None of my doctors have commented at all about it even the surgeon. I guess I'll know for sure when my surgery appointment is set.

    Atkins Diet

Atkins was one of my many diets of the past and every one of my specialist I see still recommend it. However, as every diet that I have been on, I lose but gain it back eventually. I lost 70 pounds on Atkins and felt good. I am trying to get back to watching my carbs and have already started the Protein shakes. I have been taking Topamax for 10 months to help with my weight. I am in the process of the Gastric Sleeve approval and I would have had it last year had my insurance covered it. They added procedure to the plan this year after I sent a 10 page write up on the benefits of Gastric Bypass. Good Luck!
