jodie1961 replied to takingaleap's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Way to go Tebowfan! I am so glad to hear your surgery went well. And better than you expected, that is great. I pray it will go that good for me too. Hopefully you are getting home and getting some much needed rest now. Keep us updated on your recovery! -
Luckyinluv, so happy for you. It is like a weight lifted off of you just to get the insurance approval! It can happen so fast now. I finally got my approval on a Monday, went for labs on Tuesday, Friday the office called and scheduled to see surgeon on the next Friday (May 2nd)..saw him, they scheduled me for May 13th! On my 4th day of pre-op diet, and and only 4 more days of diet before Surgery day! Here's to a surgery date in the near future for you!

I am going thru Anthem bc/bs...and I noticed that my surgeons office gave me my co-pay and deductible, after they showed almost a $5000 insurance write off. They agree to do it for the lessor amount covered by insurance. I thought to myself, "Oh wow, I would hate to be self pay, they charge them more", but who knows, you cannot get a straight answer when it comes to cost in the medical field. Hang in there.

May surgery peeps from lapband to bypass?
jodie1961 replied to tebowfan's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
EmergingMissP were they able to do the lap band removal and the bypass in the same surgery? I see you are having some pain, hopefully it will subside soon. Just wondering, my surgeon is going to try to do both at the same time next Tuesday. Get well soon. -
Thanks for sharing, and best wishes to you and your wife on this journey.

Band revised to sleeve revised to bypass! Please help
jodie1961 replied to jamiep5's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Jamie, I am sooooo sorry you have to go through all of these struggles. I have a lap band and I am having it removed plus revising to bypass on May 13th myself. My doctor discussed changing over to sleeve at first, but I have reflux now myself and he said it wouldn't be good w/the sleeve. I know my recoup time is going to be longer because of both procedures at once. Makes me nervous. I have faith that the RNY Bypass will be the right tool for me, and I pray it will help you to feel less pain as well. The good news is at least there is something out there that will help you. I start my pre op liquid diet tomorrow. Hang in there, and I will keep in touch. Maybe we can support one another. My band is a long story, surgery was in 2007, revised 2008, still not good. I can understand some of your frustration. -

Wow that is great! Thanks for sharing. Surgery on May 13th. A little nervous now, but I know it will be the right tool for me to live my life fuller and longer. I am having my band removed and a revision to RNY bybass. -
My date is May 13th! I have learned so many things on this site during my journey. Thanks for sharing James. I just met with my surgeon and nutritionist yesterday, and they gave me notebook full of info and suggestions for Protein supplements, etc. One other good drink on the go is Isopure 0 Carbs. Clear fruity drinks in bottles. The Vitamin Shoppe carries and you can get on line as well...16 grams protein 8oz Fluid and 0 carbs. Good luck!

Anyone scheduled for May 2014?
jodie1961 replied to takingaleap's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Just found out yesterday-surgery date May 13th. Start my pre op diet Monday! I am so excited, I can't believe how fast this happened after the months of waiting on the insurance and doctor's office to understand each other since February. Keep us updated as you get to surgery and post op too. If you have any advise to give that would be great too. Good luck to all! -
It is always helpful to have someone in your corner at the Drs office. Debbie was my angel at my office. They take on the insurance and follow through. Sad that insurance people let us slip thru the cracks. It is life or death in many of our situations, not just paper work to be lost! Praying that your "angel" will get you back on track real fast. I went today, met with the surgeon, and I can hardly believe it, I got a May 13th surgery date! I have to start my pre op liquids on Monday! Keep me posted.

What a difference a 51 pound loss makes
jodie1961 replied to shmily's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Shmily you look fantastic already, I am so inspired by your pictures. Also, have to tell you that your profile pic is beautiful, the headband always catches my eye because it reminds me of a tiara. My dearest friend is always saying she is the Queen bee of her home, you remind me of her! Congrats again, keep up the good work. -
This exercising is a pain... in the foot? what gives?
jodie1961 replied to The Laughing Cat's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I agree with PdxMan. Get fitted at a runner's store, even if you are walking not running. They know how to fit your personal traits with the best fitting, most supportive shoe. I cannot believe as overweight as I am, they fitted me before I walked a 1/2 marathon (my first ever). The shoes with a discount were $110, and the best money I have ever spent. We trained for 20 weeks, 3X a week, at the least 9 miles a week - up to 22 miles in the last week before our week off, then the 1/2 marathon. Probably 250+ miles on that pair before I did it. Only had a blister one time, towards the end when shoes were stretched out (and it was on the ball of my foot)....the runner's store fitted me with inserts to tighten up the fit. And off I went. If you continue to have trouble after getting good shoes, go to a podiatrist. We need our feet to be fit, to continue our journey. Good job on your 5 miles ... keep it up! -
My exercise routine-finally
jodie1961 replied to tyt221b's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds good. I need to get back with it myself. Last year I walked in my first 1/2 marathon, took 3 hrs and 50 minutes. I was #2000 out of 2012 entrants. I am so wanting to have my surgery by end of May so I can recoup and start training again. The YMCA starts a jumpstart program May 17th, but the real training starts in July. Hoping to cut some time off. Keep up the good work, you inspire me to get it going. Thanks. -
LuckyinLove...have you heard anything yet? I go to see the surgeon tomorrow. They said it would be a few hours all together. See the nutritionist about pre-op diet and post of diet, etc. Should get my date for surgery too. Hope you have gotten some answers by now. Hang in there, thinking of you and praying for a good outcome.
