Hi, it is very common to have gall bladder problems. This happens to anyone who loses a significant amount of weight. The bile needed to process the high fat food is no longer needed and it sits in your gall bladder and can create stones. Get it checked out before you leave. Good luck in your journey. Mona

Hi, I can totally relate to your fears. When my band sliped I was scared. I was afraid to have my band removed. Fortunately my band was intact and my surgeon just repositioned it and I have been fine.It was a pain to do but worth the time. Call me and I can help support you. My number is 308-630-2249. Mona -

Hi Jennifer, It is a scary thing you are facing with eating a different diet and listening to your body. I was 45 when I had my band. It was a new procedure when I had it done. That was scary. You picked a good time to have it done. Just follow your surgeons rules. Slow down your eating and chew well. Learn to listen to your body to recognize when it is time to eat and when it is time to quit. Always try new foods in the evening. That is when your band is most open. The band is tightest in the morning. Some people can't eat until later in the morning. I wish you the best of luck in your journey. Mona

Hi Everyone, I would like to be the Nebraska Bariatric Pal support group leader. I am a lap band patient who has lost and has kept it off. I am very passionate about helping people get to their weightloss goals. It doesn't matter what surgery you chose. What matters is that you are doing what it takes to get healthy. I live in Western Nebraska and would be willing to cover this area. I also oversee several support groups in this area. I wish everyone the best of luck in their journey. Mona

Hi, I have had a band for 12 years. I had a slip in 2003 but otherwise everything is still the same as when I had it implanted. The band is designed to last about 800 years. Just follow your surgeons rules. Good luck in your journey. Mona

Hi Amy, everyone goes through questioning your choice. But it will be worth it once you start seeing the pounds come off and start feeling better. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I wish you the best of luck in your journey. Mona -

Hi Everyone, I wanted to tell my story. I had my band on Jan 22nd,2002. I was overweight, unhealthy and unmotivated. I had diabetes and hypertension. I was at 270 lbs. I was hungry 24/7. The day following my band I tried to drink all my fluids. I couldn't get half of them down. I finally knew what it felt like to be full. It took me 2 years to get the weight off. I feel so much more energetic. I feel like I have been given a gift. I have been able to maintain my weight loss for 10 years. I wish everyone the best of luck in their journey. Mona

Hi Cindy, how are you doing? Good for you that you have an exercise room set up. How is the eating going? Are you making healthy choices? Taking your time when you eat? Putting your fork down in between each bite? Using a salad plate to eat your food? Good luck in your journey. Mona

Hi Everyone, I am new but I am a vet. I had my surgery on Jan. 22, 2002. I am like everyone else cos I had tried every diet known to man. Since surgery I feel so much better. I got off of my diabetes meds for 7 years. But since I have a terrible history of diabetes, I went back on insulin. But I take small doses of insulin. I don't ever regret getting the band. I have been able to keep most of the weight off. That is a miracle for me because I was constantly hungry. I give thanks to my surgeon who saved my life and made it possble to help other people reach their weight loss surgery goals. I can help others and learn from the" Vets". I am happy to belong to such great bandsters. I wish everyone continued success in there journey.
