    Not losing weight

I don't have a NUT. I talked with my doctor and he says give it more time. I have a low BMI. I weigh 171. I am not working out because I feel weak and tired. I am just starting to have a little bit more energy. I write things down most days. I have been getting between 500- 650 calories a day. My water is good and my protein is about 50 per day.

16 days Post-Op, Sad & full of regret

Here is another thought to consider. People think that seratonin is in the brain but. The vast majority of it is in the stomach. You have more seratonin and dopamine in your stomach than in any other part of the body. Since the stomach has been cut away I wonder how that affects our neurotransmitter

    Band to Sleeve.. Need help!

I had a slipped band. I had it replaced and it never worked right again. After that the doctor told me they usually do not give good restriction the second time. I wish he had told me that to start with. I had a second slip and had it removed. I now have the sleeve. Weightloss is very slow with the sleeve for me. I have lost eight pounds in 21 days. I am in a stall so I am not sure where I will end up.

Day 5 Post Op - Feeling weak. Normal?

I am 18 days out and feel tired and weak. I have nausea every time I eat. I have to take Dramamine doe it. When I get the shakes I have a little juice to stabilize blood sugar. I am not a diabetic.
  8. I had my surgery two weeks ago with Dr. Alvarez. It was a great experience. He is very friendly and checks on you at least four times a day. They have two girls there who are there for you and your family, in case you need anything. It is not like the US as far as nurses go. There are 3-4 patients there at a time and there are 4-6 nurses and 3 doctors there most of the time. You don't have to wait for anything, they are right on the ball and meet every need you have. If I had to do it again I would go back.
  9. I had the band put in 7 years ago. I had a slip and they repositioned the same band. About 2 years ago the pain started again. I had the band removed this past Sept. And had the sleeve done on Jan. 28th. I do not feel that I failed with the band. I lost my weight with it and gained it all back but I feel that the band failed me. I think the band has to many problems to still be on the market, but it is. As far as the sleeve I have had it for two weeks. The first week I lost 8 pounds and the second I didn't lose any. It looks like it is going to be a slow process. I am following the plan but it is going slow. I also have a taste for sweets but am not indulging. I think you are doing good. You have lost about 2 pounds a week. It sounds like a healthy loss. You still have a good six months to lose the weight. I know it is discouraging when you hear other people are losing such large numbers. I to feel this way. I also am afraid it isn't going to happen for me. I am just going to keep doing what I am support to do. I hope you don't feel like a failure because you are not. The band failed you and the sleeve is working it is just slower than you thought it would be. It's going to work just be patient. I need to take my own advise too.
  10. I had to take the 2 antibiotics and a PPI's for this. Make sure you take all three because it can come back. I didn't gain weight. It can cause weight gain if you get an overgrowth from yeast because of the antibiotics . Also after you are done with the meds start taking a very good probiotic. There are good ones like Dr. Oheria I think is the best. There are others like Renew Life. Best of luck to you

Oye! These post op stomach spasms.

I am 8 days out and I am still having them. I have a heating pad on my stomach. I have to slow down the drinking and it helps a lot to wear a binder.

    January 2014 Roll Call

I am just had my surgery yesterday . Today I am up and around with hardly much pain. I was so scared and anxiety for months before the surgery. I had Dr. Alvarez do it. He is great and his surgical technique is right on. I have a very low pain tolerance and I am doing great.

    January 2014 Roll Call

I am having my revision to sleeve on Tuesday the 28th.i am 5'4 and 180 pounds. I am excited and scared at the same time. I keep asking myself what are you about to do, then I read these awesome stories from people on here and I can't wait for my turn to come. The anxiety of what's going to happen after surgery scares me.

    Didn't work for me.

Dr Alvarez has a radio program every week on ifm.mx radio and he talked about the cottage cheese test a few weeks ago and he said it doesn't work. He also is on Facebook and he will answer questions for people even if you are not his patient. His email is galvarez@endobariatrics.com. He has a passion for helping people who are having problems.

    Ashamed !

I had the band removed about 4 months ago. I am going for the sleeve on January 28th. I had some of the same feelings as you did. Felt like a failure with it. I had lost all my weight with the band and then gained some back. I was embarrassed in front of people who knew I had the band. Now after reading all these posts about band to sleeve, I feel the band failed me. I wish I had known all the complications there was going to be. I wish I had known that most people don't keep the weight off and most never get to more than a 50 percent weight loss. This time around I have not shared this surgery with many people. I do not want their judgements about it. I wish I had known that was how it was going to be before I had the band in, I learned a lot with that and I only want people who are not going to be talking about it to other people that are going to be an encouragement to me. I wish you well.

    What was the deciding factor?

Your story sounds just like mine. I had a lapband placed in 07. I had it repositioned in 09. I again had a slip and wanted it switched to a sleeve. I have seen 4 surgeons and only one told me no way he would only do a bypass. I am having the sleeve done in 17 days. I too had a lot of scar tissue, so when the band was removed the doctor had me wait for 4 months until he would do the sleeve. The doctor I chose has done 5200 sleeves. The other doctors did have that much experience. The one who only wanted to do bypass had done a lot of them and few sleeves, so I think he felt more comfortable with what he knew how to do.
