Band to sleeve...gaining weight
lauriearnold replied to calitexan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i'm doing really good. i'm prob one of the only ones that miss my band. I have a hard time knowing when i'm full now until i'm sick. i measure everything out 3-4 oz a meal but sometimes it seems like everything i eat makes me nauseous. I'm dealing with that all day today. I do good on most days but the weight loss is really slow after having band removed cause your body is use to not getting alot of calories still. I had no problems with my band, the band just decided to do it's own thing and went into my stomach where the stomach tissue and scar tissue grew around it and i didn't know it and had no symptoms. I'm 10 weeks out now and taking it one day at a time. I didn't have all this nausea with he band. the dr said it's just going to take time. I think in the long run it's going to do really good and i look forward to see where i'm at in 6 months and a year. i believe you'll like it but just have to get use to what you can and can't eat. sometimes i eat the same thing and one time it'll make me deathly sick and i may have just eaten the same thing the day before and i was fine. i'm just on a emotional roller coaster right now and they say it's normal so i'm hoping it will ease up. good luck girl. gym and working out is a big deal also. -

NO you won't gain weight but you won't lose either and i have 2 clients that are overweight and anorexic's and they both have counselors that do work with them and help them. it is not an excuse but a disease and it's really sad to watch them and listen to them about food. One client was in the hospital a couple months ago for starvation and dehydration and she weights 193 lbs at 5 foot. She is very sick and in bad danger. the skinny ones that "think" they are fat and start the starvation diet does loose muscle and weight. it does not work that way for overweight people!!!!! @@NewNewMe -

oh, starvation is not a myth!! yes, your body will know when it's not getting enough calories and will start storing the fat away and you will not lose weight. she is totally wrong on that part. find another nutritionist!!! -

no, i'm not hungry. like this morning i got up and ate a boiled egg and i'll have to make myself eat lunch later which will prob be left over turkey meatloaf. if i snack, i snack on turkey Jerky that i got at krogers that i am addicted too. it's made by Krave. I've upped my workout to 4 days a week with trainer and the other days i ride my bike 3-5 miles and do sit ups, jumping jacks, jump rope and a few other things. the weight is not coming off like i thought it would at all. since i had my surgery 6/29 i've lost like 3 lbs. I don't know if me having the band for 8 years before is the reason and my body is use to the calorie intake or what. i'm just gonna go with it right now and see where i'm at in a year. hopefully at goal!! -

i'm a personal trainer and a nutritionist and this has just thrown me for a loop. It's not good if i get in too many calories and it's not good if i get in less either. being 9 weeks out i thought this would work like the band but it doesn't. I don't eat carbs unless i have 1 pc of bread a week. I'm totally depressed and disgusted too @@calitexan, especially working out 5 days a week with my personal trainer. i go to my surgeon next week on 23rd and i'm doing to ask him about this and what to do about this. i was a self pay in the US and i'll just be sick if i stay where i'm at after paying a whole lot of money to them I am a strong believe in Protein first (which needs to come from as much food as possible), then i eat my veggies. -

i'm not losing good either. i her people say your getting in too many calories or you not eating enough. either way i can't lose. i had surgery 6/29 and have lost 15 lbs that's pre diet up to now and i work out with trainer 5 days a week and ride bike on weekend. i'm so discouraged too. i had to pay for my surgery here in the U.S. and i am so down and disgusted!! -

lauriearnold replied to undeserving777's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
oh YEAH @@undeserving777, I literally thought they pulled my arms out of my sockets of my shoulders i hurt so bad. I used ice, heat and ointments and nothing helped. It was the gas slowly seeping out of my body and it just so happens to come out the shoulders. mine took about 3-4 weeks of finally leaving my body but don't worry. i was afraid they ruined my shoulders, lol. gas-x didn't help, Water didn't help, pain pills didn't help. The dr just said it has to slowly leave your body. so sorry your going through this too, i know it's rough but it DOES get better -

Lap band to sleeve revision in 2 surgeries?!
lauriearnold replied to Pinkgirl1234's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
@@Pinkgirl1234 NO, i had no symptoms at all!! The new dr could not figure out how i was not deathly sick but the band went into my stomach and scar tissue and my stomach healed all around it. I had no reflux, was able to drink and eat anything, no chest pain. NOTHING!! As i said, i just could tell i could eat more and my old dr told me to just push myself away from the table and got very rude and hateful with me that last appt and that's when i decided to change drs. I did it cause i hated my old dr and i thank God every day that that man was rude to me or there's not telling what would have happened to me. I had it in for 10 years with never ever a problem. Lost a good amount of weight and was doing fine with it. The new dr had to do an upper gi because my old dr wouldn't tell him what band i had or how many cc's was in it so i had to go through a battery of tests so he could find out what i had and that's when he found the erosion. -

yeah i had no symptoms at all that my band had eroded into my stomach. the only problem i had was i wasn't losing and i could tell i was eating more. I switched drs and the new dr found it and said it had been in my stomach for a good 2 years or more. good luck girl. -

I have United Health Care and they would not pay for me to get the sleeve. they paid for me to get it and they paid to have it removed but denied the sleeve for afterward 5 times. I'm very glad i did mine in 2 surgeries now. He told me at one point he could do it in one surgery but that i would have to stay in the hospital for 6 weeks to be checked twice a day for bleeding out or leakage. i took the other choice of waiting 7 months and doing a gi then and see where we went from there. long story short, my 1 1/2 hour surgery ended up being 5 hours long and during it he had to send a nurse to go get the upper go machine so he could use that to go into my stomach to guide him through it. it was a living nightmare. BUT i am now 6 weeks out and doing good. Have had some complications but were fixable without surgery. I am losing weight more slow then a virgin sleeve but that's ok too as long as i'm losing. I'm eating normal food which to me is Protein and veggies, my fav. if you have any questions or need to talk just let me know girl. I've been through the worst of the worst and have now become one of his case studies to show other dr's and patients what can really happen. -
Lap band to sleeve revision in 2 surgeries?!
lauriearnold replied to Pinkgirl1234's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
my insurance didn't cover mine and mine had to be done in 2 surgeries. I had to wait 7 months because the amount of damage the band did to my stomach, it was horrible. I was having upper gi's every month for 4 months and i still had a lot of holes, damage and paralyzation of my stomach. We decided to quit putting me under the stress of coming in for upper gi's every month and decided to wait another 3 months to let it heal and let my body heal. we knew the whole time my insurance wasn't going to cover it and my dr was just being cautious for me. If i would have done it all in one i would have bled to death internally do to the damage and scar tissue of the inside of my stomach. trust me, take the time and let your stomach heal or you will have big problems. i only gained 6 lbs in those 7 months also. i watched what i ate. -

hey girl. my band eroded into my stomach and i am just now 4 weeks out from having sleeve. They removed my band 11/14 and i had to wait a while so my stomach would heal. I am now on normal foods and so pleased to have had the chance to get this sleeve. It is so much different. I love this better then i did the band cause i always worried about the band doing exactly what it did and doing the damage that it did. I would def recommend take band out and do sleeve. I've already started losing again and doing so much better. i wished the sleeve would have been available in 2006 when i got my band or i would have went this route first. good luck and prayers -

I use muscle milk from GNC in Cookies and creme. It tastes awesome and has a lot of Protein in it. I also like Jamie Easons protien powder on Bodybuilding.com, i love it too. i just like something already boxed up and ready to drink. i've got 3 cases right now waiting for my surgery on 6/29. i had to wait 7 months for my stomach to fix itself after having the band removed on 11/4/14. now 7 months later, i'm ready to go!! Good luck!!
